Thanks for the suggestion. I thought about that but I've never been a fan of Frankensteining stuff like that. I used to work at a Chevy dealership as a mechanic and hated working on vehicles that had aftermarket or home made electrical components because they almost always caused problems. I trust myself enough doing a wiring job for this but I guess realistically it isn't worth it for me. I'm hoping some good incentives come along the next few months and I can upgrade to a Silverado or Sierra that has 4wd and defrost/heated mirrors. I guess those are options I took for granted when I traded in my Jeep that had them.

Thanks everyone for the replies. It looks like what I want to do isn't possible then. It's odd Chevy wouldn't add this automatically to their work trucks or as an after market option as the WT trim is usually used to work in snowy conditions around here by plow companies. My Ford I could literally just swap on the heated factory mirrors and it was good to go. I guess I'll have to wait until I get my next truck in a few years.

I have a 2014 Silverado work truck. It has power windows, locks and remote start. I would like to add heated mirrors as mine have already frozen over and it sucked. I don't have rear window defrost. The mirrors on it currently are manual everything. Is there a somewhat easy way to add heated mirrors to the truck?

Depending on where you live it could be a mouse or other animal chewed on the wires. I'd take a close look at the wiring harness under the hood to make sure that isn't what happened.

EFLine, I have a 14 that was neglected by the previous owner and my frame seems to have more rust than most on here. That being said I don't have as much as you. I wonder if there is a way to report this to GM even with your truck being out of warranty. The more people who complain the more likely something more than just recoating the frame with junk wax will happen. No matter what conditions it's been in, except maybe being submerged in the ocean, that is unacceptable for a 3 year old truck in my opinion. I used to work as a mechanic and 10+ year old trucks didn't have as much rust as your frame or mine, and I'm in Ohio with all the nasty road salt and grime they put down in the winter. It really shows the lack of quality gm put into protecting the frames on these things.

I know this has been talked about but I can't find an answer after searching. I have the IO3 radio. I originally believed it was not possible to add a backup camera without aftermarket equipment or upgrading to the IO4 and up. However that seems to be incorrect. After speaking to a family member who has the same truck as me, I found out their truck came from the factory with a backup camera. I assumed they had the IO4 but they showed me they have an IO3. They gave me their camera because they put in an aftermarket system. Their radio is already sold otherwise I would take the radio and put it in mine. Here's my question, has anyone here had the dealership program a backup camera with an IO3 radio? I'm not asking if it can be done because I now have proof it can be.This family member has an IO3 without an hmi or any special after market devices. I just have not had success in getting a dealer to say yes to programming it, all of them say they can't. Anyone who has had this done, what did the dealer do exactly so I can tell my dealer? There's no good info out there about this.
