  1. Already 21K on your '19, that's amazing. Let everyone know on the 2019 threads of your impressions so far of the '19, I would be interested to know if the seats have been improved, for example.
  2. I ran across this article abut changes to the 8-speed affecting the 2019's, which is reassuring to anyone who wants a new truck but doesn't want to spring for the $2500 6.2/10-speed. Maybe this gives some insight to the "fix" everyone is alluding to for our trucks. Perhaps (lets hope) that this will lead to updated parts and/or software for our 8-speeds. Mine harsh shifting and clunking isn't severe at 15K, and is better than when new, but its still annoying. http://gmauthority.com/blog/2018/07/gm-8-speed-automatic-enhanced-for-2019-silverado-sierra/ Speculation but maybe in a year GM will follow F*ord's lead and install the 10-speed in just about everything.
  3. Interesting, thanks for posting. Exhaust tuning my '17 truck has been one of my biggest frustrations. By tuning valve do you mean flapper valve, like the one that is currently in use? That thing is the bane of my existence.
  4. I have then same wheels/tires on my 2017. I installed a RC 2" level and began to experience UCA rubbing at full lock and plus it rode like shat (stiff on the front). So, I removed the level. The level kit helped at some kids' sporting events I had to go to, where there's never enough parking, and allowed me to park up on the curb side along with all the other trucks. However, this is my DD so I just decided out of practicality to put it back and keep it stock for now. I'm getting great gas mileage and its a comfortable ride.
  5. I have the adjustable pedals, but they're not adjusted all the way down. The play in mine seemed to be all side-to-side (huge-amazing! but probably isn't be a factor for me since I'm pushing down). Not too much slack when pushing down with my hand. Put the paint stick fix in anyway, wrapped with electric tape, but couldn't tell a difference with the built-in hesitation that these engines already have...may try to put more, if 1/2" is possible as mentioned above.
  6. Let us know. By the way, I also have the round valve that protrudes from the pipe on my '17. How did you clamp it open, any pictures?
  7. Hi all. Getting the right exhaust sound and performance on these trucks is one of the most perplexing upgrades I have done on a vehicle I have owned. You want loud? Easy, a number of options exist. Quiet? Easy, leave it stock. In between - with no chopper sound? That's where your problem begins...I had great difficulty achieving nirvana on this issue. Here is what I have done, good and bad. Mistake #1 was using a good/honest, but run of the mill "muffler shop" to dial it in. I let them replace my factory muffler with a FM 40 replica (these are everywhere now a days with lots of brand names, or even brand-less). Left the flapper on. No pictures on this one. I found it had an annoying hum at all speeds, but no drone really. Start up sound great with the remote start. I wasn't satisfied. I felt like the truck wasn't running as good (less power - is this possible?) with this muffler. Being a slow learner in general, I returned to the same shop and ask for one of their magnaflow replicas. They seemed offended I came back, but were polite enough overall I suppose. They had magnaflow knock-off's in an 18" offset, and also a 24" 5x8 oval stainless available, with 3" in and out, which I purchased. I looked it up when I got home and the magnaflow equivalent # is 12289. They charged me the difference. Their comments made me realize how little they knew about these vehicles, such as: the flapper is useless here in warm weather, it only works where its cold...the magnaflow is only for big trucks (not mine) with 6.0's...and other astounding observations. Sadly, this "stainless" muffler already shows corrosion after a week, around the factory welds. The sound - back to stock, plain and simple. The straight through design seems better, but I couldn't tell if the truck was running better than stock. Then...I discovered an actual performance exhaust shop, Top Gun Muffler in Ft Walton Bch. Wow. Drove an extra 40 miles or so, but it was worth it. Whole different crowd both in the shop and in the waiting room. Lesson: drive little farther if necessary. Lots of choices and in-depth knowledge. I had them delete the resonator only, my idea (see pic), in hopes of a little more sound and perhaps having the sound behind me and not underneath the cabin. Still have the flapper. I was surprised how much louder the rez delete made it. It has a slight drone at 1500 rpm in V4, but no real noise in V8 mode unless accelerating. Good WOT sound. Much closer to what I was looking for. Its more of a V8 gurgle type of noise (truck stays in a low gear always, unless you're almost WOT, so its hard to achieve that quick V8 burst noise from the days of yore). I'll run it for 6 months, if the drone annoys me I'll have them weld a small bullet type resonator in and be done with it. Wow, all this aggravation just trying to avoid paying for the GM Borla. Sorry for the excessive information, I'd rather give too much than too little. Hope this helps someone or at least provides a good laugh.
  8. It's all personal preference, depends on if you're a chrome guy or not. I love the looks of the '17 front end, especially on the darker ones as pictured above.
  9. Software update helped, but still a low-quality picture with two "rings" behind the backup lights. It was about a 45 minute appointment at the dealer. Like another post said, I also have 20% 3m tint on my side windows and need to roll them down to see the mirrors more clearly when reversing at night, depending on the situation. As a side note, I haven't found the "auto tilt" mode helpful, and have mine selected to normal.
  10. 2018 e-assist's are available in FL. I know because my dealer let me use one as a loaner - it is sweet. The stop-start is really smooth, almost imperceptible. It also comes with a cheap-a.. folding tonneau cover. I read that the e-assist and cover combined give a total of a 2-mpg increase (when I got home, I looked it up to see what the heck they had given me).
  11. Love the red graphics on the bed of the blue one!
  12. Thanks. Dang. Good to know though. Currently I have an S6 with an otterbox case, which is too big for the mat as others have pointed out. However, the phone is due for a replacement. Def interested in a lid mod and/or software update that will look ok.
  13. Mine is round as well (2017 5.3, two weeks old). I tried a little WD40 (helped a little, changed it from a screech to a chirp). I'm curious how you remove it, since I assume there is a piece inside the pipe? I'm always in traffic, so its constantly sounding off, but I could live with it if I had to.
