  1. Interesting thought, I will let you know! I'll update my HMI first and install it into my truck and post the results. I unfortunately suspect a radio module will still be required...
  2. Oh no! This could have been from an early 2016 model without the software update for Android Auto! Let me verify that there is a setting for Android Auto in my version. I am almost positive there is. If he did mess up, send it back and make him pay shipping both ways. That's not acceptable. I have a feeling he isn't updating the firmware before sending the modules out, he's just changing the VIN. I say that because my HMI doesn't show the shop icon that others do and when I went to check the software version in SPS it showed there were updates available. Hang on...
  3. First of all, congrats on teaching your family the ways of a proper mobile operating system. Second, can you try with one of their phones as well just to verify? Seems like your USB connection is fine. You can also turn on or off android auto in the settings menu. Please verify both of those are turned on as well. Next up, test the iphone when you can get your hands on one.
  4. Honestly, fair. Have you sourced any of the parts yet? If not I'm sure we can work something out pre-programmed. I'm in Canada like yourself so shipping will be easy and cheap.
  5. At it's core it is simple. There are just a ton of variables. And honestly for me I paid almost exactly $200 USD for all of my modules which is pretty damn cheap in my opinion. It's just a matter of programming that's the only missing link.
  6. Nope you have the proper receptacle. 2 things I can think of. First verify the time on your radio is correct. If it's not, Android Auto will give you an error. Second, if the LT without the console has a secondary USB plug (I'm unsure, I haven't worked on that model yet), try plugging the device into that. I was able to get AA to show up in projection at the very minimum using the stock USB plug. If there isn't another USB plug, try swapping back in your old USB plug and test. Some other things to try - Get an iphone and plug it in to see if carplay shows up. I'm sure you know someone with an iphone. Also, is your phone charging when you plug it in. Does the aux input work? Can you play audio over a usb stick? Keep us posted.
  7. Your comment didn't go unnoticed! Just doing a bit of research on the subject, and while YES, AA and ACP do have different volumes based on the task at hand, the problem most certainly lies in the module not being compatible rather than there being a software issue. I ran some tests to check out the fixes in THIS THREAD that I found when I Googled the issue you suggested. Unfortunately none of them worked. Furthermore, to be more convinced it's the module and not the device, I can unplug my phone and plug it directly into another car that has AA and everything runs and plays fine, I'll unplug it and put it into my truck, and nothing. I tried adjusting the volume knob during a song, using the steering wheel paddle volume controls, Spotify volume controls, android volume. Nothing. Looks like we need to hold out for the radio module programming.
  8. What trim is your 2015? Do you have a center console? What cable are you using, OEM, aftermarket cable? What kind of phone do you have? Let's try to get this solved for you.
  9. Woody, what was the part number of the usb connector you purchased. Also, do you have Android auto installed on your phone? You need to download it. A lot of people think it will just work when they plug it in like carplay does. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks for supporting my laziness @pgamboa
  11. Hey guys, wondering if anyone might be able to tell me where the BCM is located in our trucks. Much appreciated!
  12. In the case that both need to be programmed together I`ll be happy to offer the viewers of this thread a 2 for 1 programming for their patience. I too have a dokus programmed HMI so I`ll be able to tell without a shadow of a doubt if both units need to be programmed together or if we can program the radio independent from the HMI. Cheers!
  13. I`m hoping that will be the case as well. I`m waiting on some hardware to come in. I will commend the people offering the programming, it is certainly not easy. There are a lot of hurdles to get over and there is quite a substantial initial investment for everything that`s required. I`m just waiting on a few pieces of hardware to make their way up to the great white north and by the time I have them I should be able to finish my testing. I will continue to update the forums with my progress. Thank you all for following along!
  14. For anyone interested I believe I will have the ability to do programming very soon. I have made quite a bit of progress and hope to have the reprogramming method refined and ready within the next few weeks. Please stay tuned. You won't wanna miss this ;)
  15. Me and you are in the same boat my dude. Android auto completes calls through the vehicles bluetooth which is why they work in android. Anything that requires audio over the USB connection does not work.
  16. That's the plan. If I can get this all figured out I'd like to be able to provide the service at a fair price.
  17. I know dude. It sucks. Radio module is $80. $200 to program the radio and HMI. What year is your truck
  18. Yea do not go this route lol. Go buy an HMI from dokus. Get the USB connector GM 13509942 Then buy a compatible radio module GM 84278527 or any from any 2016-2018 Silverado/Sierra. It's unfortunate that programming costs as much as the actual hardware but it's our only option currently while we research more on how to program them ourselves. Total cost will be $400 - $500 (Parts will be $200-$250, programming will be around $200 - $250) Hope this helps.
  19. Also if any of your are rolling in it, alpine has a pretty badass new system with carplay and android auto
  20. I think he potentially might be contracted by MVI to do programming to be honest. Just send him an email and he will sort you out.
