  1. The truck is a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 4wd. I had a 6L80E fail on me and I just finished installing a remanufactured transmission. I need to tow the truck to the dealership which is only a few miles and I was planning on having my friend help me flat tow it. Is it safe to run the engine in neutral so I have power steering and brakes? I am concerned since everything I’ve read says it needs to be reflashed before driving but I can’t find anything about just starting the truck in neutral. Thanks, Cash EDIT: I talked to a mechanic and figured it out. You can start it in neutral just fine and attempt to drive it. Mine drives fine but is stuck in 2nd gear and doesn’t communicate with the truck so I think the software is a different version. I’m going to limp it to the dealership in 2nd heat tomorrow and have them reprogram it.
  2. Thank you. Do you know how hard it would pull? I wouldn’t think it would be very bad but I don’t have experience with it. And couldn’t you align it to pull to passenger side slightly to compensate?
  3. I understand how it would operate in 4wd and have no issue with that, it’s just the 2wd operation I’m trying to understand.
  4. So in 2wd it will pull to driver side? Can you explain why? I don’t know a ton about differentials but I have a basic understanding. Why would it have a load spinning the front driveshaft? Does the open diff in the front allow the wheel to spin while the driveshaft doesn’t and then a locker would make the driveshaft and driver wheel locked together?
  5. I’m wanting to have a front locker in my 2015 Sierra 1500. If I can just weld the gears that would be even better because Im a on a tight budget but I am a good welder. From my research and understanding it seems like the front differential has a disconnect so that in 2wd a locker (or welded gears) in the front wouldn’t make a difference. It would only be noticeable when the center axle disconnect is engaged due to 4wd being engaged. Does this sound correct and does anyone have experience with this? Also its on 35s and I know that the strength or the front end isn’t great and I would have to be very careful with a locked front end. This is also a daily driver but it seems like this would not effect anything while in 2wd.
  6. I moved my PA speaker into my grille. I had it in my spare battery tray but I needed to move it to make room for the second battery I’m installing. I’m about half way done with the battery install. Im not sure how I feel about the look of the PA in the grille, but it’s definitely louder than when it was in the engine bay.
  7. I have some in the overhead console. You can fit up to 5 switches in there. I also have some in the dash behind the turn signal. Those are pretty discreet since they’re behind the steering wheel but also easy to hit without looking.
  8. I finished changing out my single throw switches for my horn and compressor to DPDT switches. The compressor switch is on when the ignition on in the bottom position, off in the middle position, and on regardless of ignition in the top position. The train horn switch is connected to the stock horn when the switch is in the bottom position, off in the middle, and honks in the top position. I also changed my wiper blades today because the old ones were worn out. On my truck I use a 21” driver and 19” passenger wiper to clear my light bar because it sits low on the windshield.
