  1. I have 160,000km on my factory battery in a 2500HD 6.0L gas that I bought new in January 2016 but is a 2015 model year so it could be as old as 7 years. It's starting to show signs of weakness; the pause/rewind live radio stopped working first and now it struggles to start by remote in extreme cold (-25C). It starts every time with the key. I'm not sure why there is a difference. I put a tester on it and it reads about 548CCA and 48% life. I'm debating a new one but I love stats and specifics, and hate replacing unnecessarily early but I think I might be due.
  2. Today, I remote started my ‘15. It wasn't until I unlocked the doors, got in, turned the key and shifted to drive that I was alerted the right rear door wasn’t fully closed. I didn’t think it would start under that circumstance.
  3. Thought about that… Probably to keep the overhead centermounted cab high light from shining in the faces of drivers behind you.
  4. I’ve only ever tried it with the radio screen to be honest, and I find it a bit of a gimmick. You can get there with the control buttons on the steering wheel anyway, and I’ve never really found this to be a “must have” option.
  5. ...and you can swipe left from the middle of the main screen to send the display to the driver info centre screen!

  7. The whole story is the USB stick works pretty well, but occasionally stops randomizing. I just turn off random and turn it back on. It’s my preferred media for its consistency. SD plays it’s own game... sometimes it works fine (like the USB stick), sometimes it picks a song and sticks with it (even if it’s Selfie by the Chainsmokers)... The USB and SD each have their own icon but when scrolling through My Media Library with the “Media” button, there is one setting that is a musical note as an icon and I have no idea which media device it’s pulling the song from, so I can only assume it’s using them all, but not sure. (Both the USB and SD have the identical song list because this is somewhat experimental)...
  8. Does it find them again? Or do they stay lost? I haven’t had anything lost, but it will occasionally stop randomizing when playing off a USB stick. All I do is turn shuffle off and back on again. As far as the SD card... sometimes it will just pick one song and play that. ONLY that. Over and over.
  9. Ditto. Also, it doesn’t play nicely when you have an SD card full of music in the SD card slot either. USB works much better.
  10. Perfect, glad to hear that.
  11. LMAO to be 100% honest, when I posted the steps with pics, I made a mental note to go back and verify if I phrased it correctly because I had a suspicion I may have reversed the 10 to 11 or 11 to 10. I never did get around to checking that but I was comfortable enough that with the detailed steps, even if I reversed it people would know where to go and how to switch whatever they found. I think you just called me on it!! Glad you ended up getting what you wanted out of it though!
  12. I gotta say, I love the thread for finding out little things I didn’t know, but for every little thing that I find out I DON’T have, I just chalk it up to being a “TRUCK”! Don’t need all the niceties! At least that’s my line and I’m sticking with it! And I know I’m missing a few, I have an SLE so there is still SLT and Denali stuff I don’t have. I love old fashioned in a truck. A good old fashioned key-turn to start the engine. A column mounted gear shift. Stuff like that. I couldn’t begin list all the Dodge drivers I know that HATE the gear shifter knob on the dash.
  13. LMAO I just discovered that in the last few years too and I thought I was the last person on earth to know this... so I am proud to pass title! In my defence, I had my last truck for 17 years before this one though... 1998 GMC Sierra K1500 364,000 that I loved but was just rotting too much to work for me. Too bad... if I’d known I was going to keep it that long I’d have had it sprayed every year.

  15. I like the light! Nope, haven’t seen those louvres yet. New to me, not on my 2015 6.0L I wonder if they would play nicely with a snowy, icy northern climate…
  16. ...or, your lane assist is fighting really hard to overcome bad alignment! ;) (Sorry, couldn't help myself!)
  17. Perfect, that's exactly why I asked. With the knockouts there, it gives you somewhere to drill for switches... For some reason I'd hate to do that to the smooth OEM one piece trim.
  18. One of the other “Retained Accessory Fuses” is labeled as #50 in the passenger side fuse panel. But... I just checked and when the diagram in the manual is lined up with the actual panel, there is nothing there. Love when that happens ? If anyone can shed light on that I’d appreciate it too.
  19. Thought I’d include a better write up and broader picture of what you’re looking for. In the driver’s side fuse panel, pink 50a fuse is now in position for RAP for the outlet on the dash. It was originally in the other position from the factory, for constant power... just pull it out and move it over. Also, for what it’s worth, it’s much simpler to slide the fuse puller on from the side rather than force it over the top. So glad I found this thread, it accomplished what I was looking for.
  20. Agreed... I’d actually like to reverse them and have the center console ports constant and the dash RAP... I had a dash cam fry because (I think) we had a crazy hot summer and the dash cam ran constantly in that heat. I’m ok if it shuts off when parked, it has a parking monitor. Same with the GPS, I’d like it to shut off when I’m done driving without having to remember to do it manually. But, I have other things I’d like the option to power constantly, and those are plugged in the back seat. I’m working on it... Although, in the category of “things discovered”, I think I’m going to try this kit and that way my ports are open and free for use with other more temporary devices while the more permanent devices don’t need to occupy ports.
  21. You’re right. 3 pins. The panel is grounded so the hot is the only circuit required to run through the fuse.
  22. Sorry, that one was in a different thread. For simplicity’s sake, pull off the driver’s side fuse panel cover and switch this 50 fuse from the position it’s in, to the second position... referred to in the owner’s manual as postions 10&11. This changes the power outlet on the dash from constant, to RAP (switches off after 10 minutes). Hope that helps!
  23. Gotta admit I’m having fun going through the posts and making a list of things to try... so far I’ve discovered the “turn and release” the key to start the engine, and changed the power at the outlets to retained accessory from constant. There is probably a half dozen things I’ve discovered too that would be useful to add that I’ve gotten so used to I don’t even realize it was a “discovered tip and trick” any more! Most are mentioned here but there are still things... like the seatbelt alert only chimes twice, and not constantly like many other vehicles/manufacturers. If you you want to drive 500 miles with no seat belt, the truck will remind you twice and that’s it. Not saying it’s a good idea, just that that’s what it does.
