  1. Since they replaced my head unit, I have not had any problem with it. That being said, its not my daily driver at the moment. I have driven it maybe 6 times and have not had any issue. Before being replaced, it would do it almost every startup.
  2. I would do some more "testing" before spending money on refrigerant. Other than putting some gauges on it, try putting yourself in the same scenario of idling in the the sun but bump it down to "LOW." I guess if it were me I would have turned the temp down while sitting to get it cooler in the cab. I usually keep mine around 70 or so most time but if I find myself sitting in the sun I drop it down for cooler air. Stick an instant read thermometer into the vent with it running and see what the temp is coming out of the vents.
  3. Got mine back from the dealership today. Here is the service comments they provided. There is a new plastic film over the touchscreen so I assume they replaced the whole head unit. I hope this works but some have reported that this did not fix it. I know a parts manager at another dealership and he said the Cadillac units were bad for doing all of the described behaviors, but he was surprised a GMC unit was doing it. I would assume they were basically all the same...

I have a 2017 Sierra at the dealership now getting warranty work for the exact same issue...touch not working, then icons moving around themselves, the radio info popping over to the DIC by itself, and I keep hearing the touch sound like someone is touching the screen. They told me they had to order a part and it will be ready tomorrow. I will post the results tomorrow and I hope it works.
  5. Sorry, when I get to talking about stuff like that I switch to the jargon...You usually dont see officer's pulling people over for registration violations in other states...it is not really an NC violation if a PA license is expired...
  6. Here in NC it is all tied to the tag, i.e. license plate...officer runs the tag and the DMV status comes back (inspection, insurance, annual registration, etc.). The officer doesn't need to stop the driver to run the tag and any hits like failure to register, no insurance, no inspection give the officer RAS to stop the car.
  7. It is disturbing that they are framing this as if YOU caused the damage, not them. They wrote the false narrative that you brought it in because of some unknown problem. They are trying to mitigate culpability in a lawsuit by minimizing their own negligence. The reason an attorney was brought up was to say, "you are getting screwed on this deal." Yes they dropped in a new engine but that doesn't solve the problem. These are the ancillary problems that I was referring to when I said you need a free extended warranty at a minimum. What happens when you are on the highway and the engine just shuts off because of an issue they caused? You die and they say, "see right here, it says the customer brought it in for all these problems..." not because we (the dealership) seized the motor and are grossly negligent. I just fear that gremlins will follow this all the way until the end and it will never be right again. You can ask for a new truck and they laugh at you but you already have a new truck that they destroyed. That is where a lawyer can come in, nothing puckers people's anus like a strongly worded letter on some attorney's letterhead. You are taking on 100% of the risk by continue to drive this truck and the loss you are suffering from is the diminished value from this truck.
  8. It seems odd to have two separate stickers for safety inspection and emissions inspection. In NC both emissions and safety are done simulataenous and tied to the vehicle registration (as well as the weight), thus, no stickers. I think a safety inspection here is like $14 and emissions is $30. Only 22 counties out of 100 here require emissions.
  9. What do all of these stickers represent? I see the "Class 2" is for weight i guess, what are the other two for? We don't do window stickers in NC, did away with them 10 years ago...
  10. I believe it is No. 2 on the driver side; it's a 10A fuse (SEO/Retained Accessory Power)
  11. That would only be if the dealership reported it to Carfax or wherever, right? They may not report anything other than a Lube/Oil/Filter service...
  12. Does it not come with one? All of the other kits I know about also come with the wiring harness, zip ties, and instructions...
  13. This would be a prime time to demand an extended powertrain warranty on the house (5 yr/100k minimum). The future complications/result of this action cannot yet be fully seen or realized and you should not be the aggrieved party. You may need to get a little "aggressive" in your demand; especially when you are already hearing that they wont even comp you a 2500 mi. oil change and are already giving you "I'll have to talk to the service manager about it" routine.
  14. Is the crease along the bottom pulling away from the fender where they meet? Have you backed over something and it bent them? It DOES look like it is bending in a little to me but it's hard to tell.

  19. It is about $2.30ish give or take around the piedmont-triad area of NC and $2.10ish in southern, VA for regular. I use the Gas Buddy gas card and usually save about 9 cents per gallon in addition to Shell's 5 cents off (14 cents total). They send you a card and you use it in conjunction with the app. I always use a Shell about 95% of the time unless some circumstance dictates otherwise.
  20. There are several codes that deal with the MAF sensor...We seem to have a whole rash of folks joining then asking super-generic, non-specific questions on the forum already this year...jeesh... What was the code(s) Were there any associated codes? Were there any related symptoms that occurred? Is your warranty expired?
  21. The switch is in the door latch, I think they started putting them there on these trucks since about 2000.
  22. Mine have been on for over 2 years and no signs of warping...It seems odd they would warp considering how thick/stiff they are. A picture is worth 1,000 words ?
