Replace standard tailgate with Multi Flex
Basketcase replied to ertmpm's topic in 2020-2026 Silverado HD & Sierra HD
Subbed. I have read a lot of thread on this already, and most said the wiring wasn't there.. but they were referring to lower end models or older models and trying to retrofit the multiflex gate. Specifically interested in this because it is the power up/and down gate so the power/wiring would be different then the other situations I have read about. -
you sir are correct! saw the truck today and sat in it! The seats are definitely softer and have the slighter larger bolsters. the softer padding was a much appreciated upgrade!
-
They ZR2s come with a 1.5" lift front and rear, along with new knuckles and upper and lower control arms for more travel and better geometry.

Anyone in Ontario that has a Multiflex tailgate in black want to swap for a brand new power up/down? Just noticed it wasn't spec'd on this truck. Coming form a GMC... I thought all the top of the line trucks came with them now... I sure will miss my AT4 gate. I know people ****** on them, but I used mine daily for work.

Well look at it this way... if you get the power folding, you get to enjoy the convenience (and they are very convenient, I use them way more often then I would have thought) and if they ever break, then you end up with the standard ones! Best of both worlds! haha

So was at the dealer for 2.5hrs, and left with a deposit down on the truck. Supposed to be here any day now, but he said the transportation to dealers right now is severely lacking and unpredictable. It is sitting on a lot a few hours away, but waiting on a truck to come pick it up. The payload numbers looked very similar to my current AT4, and the towing and GVWR was also comparable. I guess Ill see when it lands and I can read the door sticker. And on the interior, nobody knows if the ZR2 received the different seats for the 2500s because nobody has seen one or heard anything yet. Guess I will find that out too. Apparently this is one of the first ZR2s to land up here. My only complaint, is it doesn't come with the flex tailgate which I currently love on my AT4. I use it all the time, and would much rather have it, than the power up/down that comes standard. Apparently the dealer said they had a stop sale on them and GM was keeping the few they had for GMC models before Chevy.
-
Really? I didn't know that! I am not going to lie, I don't love the seats in my 2020 AT4... My 2017 LTZ was much more comfortable to me. If this is true for the 2500HD ZR2 then that will be the biggest appeal to buy this! The dealer website is very generic really. Has an options list, but doesn't really show everything like it should. This one is priced the same as a well optioned High Country Dmax, so assuming it has most things I would want. What differences are you referring to? I LOVE the ZR2 1500, it is the nicest truck I think currently on the road. I however still need the payload and towing of a 2500 so it isn't an option. Everything I have found in reviews says the payload/towing numbers don't really change on the HD ZR2 which is awesome! And my wife (and kids) are hoping the DSSV dampers will make it a little more compliant on the road when unloaded. All of these would be perks to me! Is there anything you can think of that may detract from the truck?

Anybody? Dealer called and said it is arriving early next week, but said there have been a lot of interest since they posted it on their website. I should go in today or tomorrow for a deposit if I want it.
-
Hey guys, Anyone have one in their hands yet? My dealer has one arriving this week or next and says I can take it if I wanted.. But I haven't seen one yet and there aren't too many pics of them online other than the original press release from this spring. Wondering if anyone here has their ZR2 in their driveway yet. I would be getting one in black, which I have not seen at all yet. I originally wanted an LTZ Z71 Midnight (with most of the options) like my 2017 was, or for similar price (after the LTZ options added) I could get the High Country since it is now offered in a midnight package (can you see my theme here?) and think it looks great! Dealers around me don't have too many trucks coming in that are unclaimed in either trim, which is why the one dealer offered me the ZR2 as a comparable (since its blacked out). Like the idea of the ZR2, but wondering if there would be anything I am missing from the other options? Only think I don't really LOVE, is the ZR2 interior colours... I like black on black, or in my current trucks case, the AT4 interior is a very nice colour way. But with more owners pictures of the interiors, it would be helpful to see the ZR2 in different lights.

So, to bump this thread again.... I posted on this issue back in 2019 when I tried to connect my sled deck to the bed mounted trailer plug for the first time and it didn't work. After some research, I ordered the Putco light bar pigtail harness that ties directly into the taillight plugs under the bed. That solved the issue and worked great! Now, I went to load my truck camper up for the first time since owning this truck and it didn't work. The running lights on the camper aren't all LEDs, so I thought it would work fine. It also uses this plug for power to charge the onboard battery, so I thought there was plenty of draw to trigger power to the outlet. I have looked up this Tow Ready 20142 adapter that people have recommended, but in some of the reviews, says that it didn't work to trigger the cameras and such. Will this fix my problem? I don't just need the running lights to work, I also need it to provide power to the charger and would like the turn signal cameras to work as well like they should while towing.

Does anybody else hate their seat?
Basketcase replied to edgexcsp's topic in 2020-2026 Silverado HD & Sierra HD
I also complained about my seat... I blame the lane assist vibrators as well as all of the complaints above. I find the passenger seat much more comfortable. But my biggest complaint is the lack of adjustable pedals. like LMCrazy says.. I used a combination of the pedals and seat adjustment on my 2017 to think it was the most comfortable truck I've owned. My wife and I drove it across Canada, down to California and back to Ontario for an 18,000km road trip with our truck camper. Many 12hr days in the seat with no complaints. After 4-5hrs in my 2020 and my right leg and hip get uncomfortable and I get a restless feeling. I also find the lumbar support isn't the same as my last truck and my lower back will start bothering me. And I drive around most of the day to look after multiple job sites so I my truck is my "office" and the comfort matters a lot. One of my biggest complaints with the new body styles.. I have 70k on my truck now, and do find them better as they have broken in a bit... but the base is still hard compared to my 2017 and the seating position can't be changed no matter how much they break in. -

Basketcase replied to BBE's topic in 2020-2026 Silverado HD & Sierra HD
Just got my truck back last week after being at the dealer for 3 weeks with a bad DEF heater. My truck ended up being the guinea pig for a fix they wanted to try until the part comes in. They spliced two wires together that should not work together but did it anyways against GMs wishes. It has been working flawlessly for the last week and my dealer asks for an update everyday to keep GM engineers in the loop. My truck was the first they had seen with the problem... now some dealers around here have 20+ trucks sitting in their lots with the same issues. I have a $100k truck and own a business that I use it for everyday to haul. This was a big pi$$ off to me that GM couldn't fix the problem. My part was ordered weeks ago and was canceled by GM because they had so many failures coming in they are going to try and redesign the part before sending them out I am told. Sounds like a recall will be coming. I'm just happy that my dealer chose me to be the guinea pig because my loaner (at first it was a Terrain which I told them didn't work for my job, and they gave me a 1500 a couple days later which helped a bit) wasn't cutting it for what I bought my truck to do. Also, I drove it in reduced power at 104km/hr (65mph) which was good for about 100 miles or so, and then it alerted me that it would reduce again to 88km/hr (55mph) which is barely the speed limit on the side roads, and less than the speed limit on our highways... if it didn't keep dropping the Max speed, I would have advised you guys to keep it until there was a fix... but it doesn't work that way unfortunately -
Just had mine replaced under warranty yesterday as my warranty is almost up. My passenger side was intermittent for a while for how far it would close.. Then started only going half way all the time. Took it in, they said it failed and would be replaced under warranty. I didn't argue. The dealer did tell me though that GM just issued a notice saying the warranty for all mirrors will need to be applied for and approved as of Feb 1. I guess they are replacing too many of these things because they are a low build quality. I do believe they will fail again though just based on their design...

Who's running a Sled Deck & What length?
Basketcase replied to edgexcsp's topic in Modifications & Accessories
The headache rack went straight into the spoiler actually. When loading it by myself I actually slid it in thinking it would clear and it hit the bed view camera that points down. I would try and get them to get you a 2021 model or maybe swap out the headache rack for you to the new one? If not, I used the deck to drive around a bit before I got to cutting it and lifting it up. The horizontal top bar directly blocks the two cameras in the spoiler (if you have them) which is another reason I lifted it up. I had a piece of 1/2 plywood between the front of the box and the sled deck as a spacer which kept it from hitting the camera/spoiler again and could have been a permanent solution if I didn’t care about the blocked cameras. -

I forgot I also lifted the headache rack to be able to use it for work and clear the cab as the new cabs are taller and the top of the rack was lower than the roof -

I have a 7' Marlon Xplore Pro II deck on my standard box. Couldn't ask for a better fit! I had the same deck on my 2017 2500hd and it sat roughly flush with the back bumper. The new truck it sits perfectly flush with the tailgate curve like it was meant for it. I did have to modify the headache rack to not hit my rear cab brake light/camera though... the new 2021 Marlon decks have a new headache rack design to address the new trucks with cameras.
