  1. Thank you, I will continue to work this issue monitoring the oil consumption. Modern day engines - haaa!
  2. Did they get you a new short block or rebuild your engine.
  3. This week we did the 1,000 mile oil consumption test. It did not use anything. When the two quarts of oil were put in it brought the level on the stick to full. I am the second owner to the truck. Carfacts doesn’t show any recorded issues. Again. For the third time in following my oil consumption since the original finding, my truck uses 2 quarts of oil in 5k miles when I go in for an oil change. According to GM - this is normal for this engine. I don’t tow or run it hard. Mostly a commuter truck driving mixed roads for about 65 miles per day. It just annoying that this engine is made this way on this truck and GMC equal size truck Canyon. Bulletin #01-06-01-011K. Oct 9, 2019
  4. I am jealous!
  5. Doug i purchased the truck as certified used with purchase of extended warranty with the certified warranty. I paid 1 year on loan thus far. GM has an oil consumption bulletin out stating the oil consumption allowance for this truck. I was not aware of it at the time of purchase. And I did look up any available bulletins while buying the truck. The reason I found out was when trying to schedule a oil change with the dealer. I had 8% left on the oil schedule reminder. Sitting a a traffic light the “low oil message” light came on. I pulled it off the road and checked it out. No oil on the oil stick. I called the dealer service as they were closing and said just put two quarts in. I got to the dealer 4 days later for oil service and they gave me the bulletin and a chart to monitor my oil each time I filled gas. They also enabled the engine hours on the info dash and had to write that and other info. GM states if I burn more then 1 qt oil in 1,000 miles that would be an issue. Or more than 2 quarts in 5k miles. I use 2 quarts in 5k miles, so GM said it’s normal. Thus, the dealer can’t repair anything as there isn’t anything wrong.
  6. I have a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado with Z71 package. I consume 2 quarts oil in 5k miles. The dealer and manufacture said this is NORMAL. My questions; why is it normal, any fix to this issue. My 2006 Honda Ridgeline with 135,000 never consumed oil. If anyone can help with my truck oil issue it would hopefully help me to continue paying it off over the next 5 years!!! Any new trucks out there that don’t consume oil like mine????
