  1. I think we've gotten a little off topic. The original post wasn't about should you check the oil every time you fill up with gas. The original post was why is the truck burning through oil so fast? Why is the truck getting low on oil 2,000 miles before its due for an oil change? Why is this happening on an engine with only 50,000 miles? And is anyone else having this problem?
  2. There's no excuse for an engine to be burning through oil and needing to add oil after 50,000 miles on the engine. When the low oil light came on and told me it was low I took it to the dealership to investigate the problem. The dealership is trying to tell me it's normal (to get me past the warranty). However, they're talking out of both sides of their mouth by telling me it's normal oil consumption rates even though I keep getting a low oil alert 2,000 miles before an oil change. Because if it's normal then, according to them, I should be able to keep driving another 2,000 miles on low oil until I'm due for that oil change. I'm not sure how long the engine can run on low oil, but I guarantee if I did that then they would sing a different tune that there was a problem and I should have brought it in to get looked at and then it would be my fault.
  3. That's a lot of good information, but unfortunately it sounds like it's all going to boil down to that they are going to screw me out of the warranty. Correct?
  4. I didn't go in the shop and watch over their shoulder to see if they were doing their job correctly. If they didn't, then they would've had to have made the same mistake twice since the low oil alert has come on twice now, each time 2,000 miles before it was due for an oil change.
  5. Driving habits haven't changed. I was getting oil changed every 5,000 but since this started happening it's been every 3,000 the last couple times.
  6. Oil change every 5,000 miles. I'm sure it was using oil, but not enough to trip the low oil sensor.
  7. 6.2L V8 I suppose that would've been an important detail to include in my original post hahaha
  8. I have a 2020 GMC Sierra AT4 that I got in 2019. Not long ago my instrument cluster dinged and alerted me that I was low on oil. I thought it was odd because I was still 2,000 miles early for an oil change. I called the dealership and scheduled an appointment, but unfortunately all they did was an oil change, they didn't investigate the problem to see what was causing it. I thought that was kind of weird because just doing an oil change wasn't going to fix it, just like if someone comes in with a flat tire, do they just pump it back up with air and call it good or do they try and find the problem, like, is there a nail stuck in the tire, pull the nail, and patch the hole. I hoped it was a 1-off, but unfortunately last week it did it again - low oil 2,000 miles before it's due for an oil change. This time I checked the dipstick and it was bone dry. There's no puddles under the truck anywhere I park, so it's not a leak in that sense. They filled it up to do an oil consumption test and I have to bring it in every 1,000 miles so they can see if it's burning too much oil. I'm still under warranty. It's a 5 year/60,000 mile warranty and I'm at 4 years and 53,000 miles. Strange thing is they billed me for the oil change even though it's part of their warranty diagnostic test. Has anyone else had this issue where their AT4 is burning through oil too much like this?
  9. I do like the install; looks nice & clean, but it does look like more cutting than I'm prepared to do. I was shooting for the radio hidden more in the flip up part of the center council. I did see that President just came out with a handheld CB with ASC. I might have to give that a whirl first before I consider a more elaborate install. 10. Worried about scratching paint
  11. My cousin & her husband are both EMT’s; might have to ask them.
  12. I'm in eastern South Dakota. I think the state does all the lights, radio, etc for PD/Fire/EMS.
  13. I checked with the local 2-way radio company here, but all they deal with is business band radios. The only places near here that sell CB's are truck stops, they wont do any install & just sales (and probably just a radio & antenna, nothing else; replacement parts basically), and they wont know what you need, you'd have to know all of that stuff ahead of time. Just doing a quick google search of the nearest CB radio stores, it looks like the closest one to me is 5 hours away, but that one is also in a truck stop, so it might be just like the other truck stop ones. The next closest one, which is an actual dedicated CB radio shop, is 7 hours away. Yikes! looks like my options are pretty slim. Know any way, other than google, to find actual professional CB radio installers?
  14. So I did find the original article of where the antenna picture came from, the Ford forum, so obviously the antenna mount would be a little different on a GMC, but probably a similar process. http://www.frontiernet.net/~jmray/F250cbAntenna.htm unfortunately once the dude in the link above made a nice, clean, hidden in plain sight antenna mount he went & stuck his radio in the most visible place in the cab. Would still want to have the radio somewhere hidden. And this is/was the radio I was eyeballing https://president-electronics.us/CB-Radios/AM-transceivers/ANDY-II-FCC
  15. My brother just put them on his Ford Raptor, but Raptors are a different kind of truck all unto themselfs
  16. Mine came with Goodyear. They have about 16,000 miles on them and maybe have about 1/4 of their life left.
  17. Gonna be honest, I don't know much about different tires. Whenever the subject even comes up I have to look up how to even read the damn numbers & what they each mean. My factory tires are getting close to the end of their life, and I'm considering the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W's. That's what they've started putting on the 2WD work trucks where I work, and the guys say they're great in the summer & the snow, even on 2WD trucks. I asked one guy if he just got new tires put on his truck and he told me "yeah last year." Sounds like they last a long time too. Anyone have any experience with that brand before? So far that's the brand I'm leaning towards when my factory tires are wear out. I don't want to install a lift, leveling kit, spacers, or any other kind of mod. I got my truck with the 20" rims; I liked the look of them better than the 18's. I know the larger wheels sacrifice some of the ride comfort. Anyone know of the biggest size of wildpeak tires that'll fit without lifts, levelers, trimming, spacers, any mods in general, and doesn't have any rubbing? I'm not a fan of super wide tires, I kinda like a stock look, but I want little bigger tires for a better ride, and obviously I want better traction in the winter.
  18. Has anyone ever looked into WildPeak tires? Its what they started putting on the 2WD work trucks where I work. I guess they work great in snow & mud even for just 2WD. I asked one guy if he just got new tires put on his truck and he told me "yeah last year." Sounds like they last a long time too. Anyone have any experience with that brand before? 19. The whole truck being higher wouldn't bother me, just having the front end up higher is what would bug me; I'm only 5'8". Yeah, height doesn't look like isn't much of an issue, but there's definitely not much room front to back, and don't really wanna rip my mud flaps off haha. I'm not a fan of wheel spacers or wide tires either. I don't like the look of them. Thanks for the tip on tiresize.com and as I was google image searching I came across this haha
  20. I like it! Same color as mine too, only difference is I got the 6-1/2' box. I don't want to put the 1" leveler on mine...my brother did that with his old All Terrain & I thought it made it tougher to see the nose of the truck. I have a hard enough time seeing the front end the way it is with the shorter hood style (I had to put a 1-3/4" lift kit under the seats so I could see front end better). I don't really do much off-road driving (not counting gravel roads), the little I do isn't like extreme rock climbing or anything (construction sites and farm land). But we do get a pretty good amount of snow here though, so I don't know if that makes a difference or not with snow build up. How were you able to figure out which ones you could use without having them rub?
  21. I got my truck last year with the 20" rims, so I was kinda curious about this for the 20" factory rims. Has anyone ever looked into WildPeak tires? 22. I don't even have towing mirrors. If I had a camper or something, or towed more enclosed trailers then it'd be something I'd look into swapping out. I know what ya mean though, my dad got himself a 3/4 ton 2020 denali, and those towing mirrors are huge. He got a 3/4 ton diesel because my parents tow their 5th wheel camper with their boat behind the camper (good thing our state's max length for trailering is 75')
  23. Saw this on another post, a dude named Randy owns Seating Solutions and makes these seat lift kits. I ordered these from him (1-3/4" seat lift, the tallest one he makes) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Drivers-and-Passengers-Seat-Lift-2020-Silverado-Sierra-Truck-Full-Height/303669827414?hash=item46b421d756:g:Sx4AAOSwQoxdFAzs Anyone else looking for these, the guy's name is Randy and his phone number is 770-401-9307. Great guy! He'll definitely help you get the right ones for your truck. Looks like they just shipped today. I'll post pictures once I get them installed.
  24. A car pulled out in front of me a few weeks ago. I thought for sure we were gonna have an accident when all I could see was the roof of their car over my hood.
  25. Yep, I have the surround view cameras, but I still like to be able to see over the front of the hood better. Using my foot I can push myself up off the seat and I can tell it makes a huge difference. It might not make a difference for you since you're 6'1", but I'm 5'8"...you're already 5" taller than me
