Its the top the line AT4, the grill looks like it has a black chrome overlay on all the cross bars of the grill, but the part # 84508683, says that there all paint to match.......maybe these elk chrome overlays attach, but I guess the grill might still require paining first....really don't know...anyway kinda stuck now for a while anyway....but its ok, still looks great

lets see, just ordered one from the Chevy parts web site posted in this file....got it in about 5 days with the 4th Holiday in the middle. Now to the install: spent a lot of time with all kinds of trim tools and small screw drivers, had an extremely difficult time getting the clips on the original GMC emblem to release, no matter how slowly or carefully I worked on them eventually broke a couple of the tabs off the black grill mounting surface, not happy, the only way you can get a replacement for that part is a whole new grill, paint to match by the way, and around 400-500$.... Tried an install with double sided 3m molding tape as an assist, nope, there is just enough curvature in the factory grill that the clips on the new lighted emblem would pull away from either one side or the other, the stock clips would not grab and hold.......OK, so now what??? tried everything I could think of, finally decided that the only way I could get a nice mount was to epoxy the new emblem to its mount, hated to do that, but choices limited!....Thought about tiny screws, but figured soon as I drilled thru the new emblem, I would hit an internal wire or connection and that would be that.......anyway, think its on, epoxy is drying, looks great and works, so overall I'm happy....just hope I never have to try and remove it one day.......

Side detection system temporarily unavailable
Theweavman replied to Theweavman's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Thanks again for trying to help me solve my problem, sure appreciate it!!! I’m pretty sure my Nav is operating correctly, never had any issues with that, the dealer reprogramed my lane change assist awhile back when it to was not working, it seems to also be working now as well as the parking sensors and following distance indicators... I only have a normal tow hitch installed in my tow receiver, nothing else on the rear of my truck....even tried removing it, no change.....not sure if my cross traffic indicator is working, I suspect that it is linked to the side detection system, so sometimes it works and sometimes I’m not sure..... I read in this forum, someone else is having a similar problem to mine, thats still unsolved also...... too many computer and electronic systems installed these days, all great when everything is working -
Side detection system temporarily unavailable
Theweavman replied to Theweavman's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
thanks for your feedback, not really sure when the problem started, as its something I never paid a whole lot of attention to......I live in NV.....no real snow, or mud problems here, and my truck is always kept pretty clean.........the parking sensors are all working properly as far as we can tell, and the two larger rear proximity sensors have been recently replaced with the latest superseded part numbered ones, and as stated, an entirely new factory harness.......The dealer has made all kinds of suggestions, including changing the rear bumper back to stock, having the new sensors matched to my vehicle, removing my CB and radar detector, etc...... but the system works fine sometimes, so I know some of these can't be the problem, and the other sensor related systems seem to work fine....... I hate to take my truck to the dealers for anything, as it always seems to end up with more damages than fixes.....last time, two paint scratches on my hood, broken mounting clips on back of fuse panel covers, my CB radio and radar detector were disconnected and left that way, The service manager is very nice and offered to take care of damaged items, but I don't relish having to keep leaving my truck there for days and using a loaner......Hopefully I will find the offending problem or component eventually. thanks again -
just an FYI, not having this problem but my truck now has had 11 software (recall / updates), my truck had NO problems before they began all these updates, and now I have had a few problems that all seem to be possibly related to all these updates

Anyone else seeing this DIC warning? My yellow detection indicators in my side view mirrors fail to illuminate on start up as the owners manual says they should if the system is working, and I get the described (title) warning........Now the weird part, sometimes it all works as it should for several start up cycles, then suddenly it stops working for weeks at a time........It also seems effected by water, sometimes washing the truck or a heavy rain, will start the system working again for a while, and sometimes when it is working a short drive will shut it down again..... My servicing dealer has spent a couple of days with it and cannot figure out what's going on..........I have replaced the two rear corner proximity sensors, the entire rear bumper wiring harness, and even put on a new rear after market bumper, made for vehicles equipped with the sensors. and still have this problem.......my thoughts are a bad connection somewhere in the system, but where? also all new connectors treated with dielectric grease, still no help......the sideview mirror & all cameras seem to work fine in parking assist mode, and the lane keeping system seems to work fine also.......folding or unfolding side mirrors makes no difference either, ........fortunatly, this is a system problem in a system that I don't really need, but since its part of the equipment that came on the truck, it would be nice to have it working.......appreciate any comments or ideas from anyone who has had this problem....thanks

Lane Keep Assist "Unavailable"
Theweavman replied to tech2therescue's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
How is this for nuts, I take my truck thru a drive through car wash, and then my Lane Change alert and side detection system starts to work, it appears to work until my truck becomes completely dry then it stops working and I get the SDIC side detection warning that its temporarily unavailable.......my guess is there must be a faulty connection somewhere, and when water gets in there somewhere it completes the circuit..........problem is finding exactly where this bad intermittent connection may be, if we can find it, it should be an easy fix........ -

Lets see, truck in shop 2 1/2 days for LKA & side detection needs service. Damage done to my truck, 2 2” scratches added to paint on hood, passenger side dash fuse panel cover, 3 of 6 snap in panel tabs broken.. LKA system repaired and now working, Side detection system now just reads “temporarily unavailable “, I guess better than need service!!! Took truck home after Radar detector, added forward vision camera & CB radio had been disconnected by dealer, also was being advised to remove after market high quality Sensor ready bumper, so they could move installed sensors around......everything was working fine prior to 10 software updates, by the way I have another update it todays mail?, wonderful...,,how many are there going to be????......interesting, had truck washed and side detection system started working again, then quite upon next start up. Comes. & goes, I suspect s bad wire connection somewhere in that system, I imagine it will get located eventually.... at least the service manager has been awsome, he told to bring it back again and see him personally, and he will work with me......also I reconnected the radar, camera & C B, and everything working Again other than the side detection, ?, as it had been....... good luck my friends -

I agree, all the different systems do add confusion to what’s available and what each system does, and how they all work, I’ve been studying the owners manual, trying to sort out each system and its operations and controls, I think I’m starting to get a grasp of them all, but doesn’t mean I can’t learn more, thanks for reminding us and listing all the related systems, also seems like some of these systems overlap with shared components, and then there are all the related software for these systems, all very cool when their working as designed, but a big headache when a problem shows up.... back at the dealership this morning, we will see what today holds, at least the service manger agreed, that the hood scratches were their fault and would address their repair, my service advisor tried to tell me that they weren't near the hood yesterday and had nothing to do with the scratches, glad the service manager is more responsive -
Lane Keep Assist "Unavailable"

I understand, but I think its the factory software engineers that are being pressed to engineer software too quickly, and then they try and work out the problems later, the dealers & the techs are forced to just follow GM’s guidelines and install what are told to.......the techs don’t have any outside resources they can turn to when these up dates don’t work or make things worse, everyone has to wait until GM finds these problems and comes up with a fix, I have had 10 so far, never ever had this many before, and now my perfectly fine new truck is all screwed up -
Lane Keep Assist "Unavailable"

So here we go, took truck to dealer for 9:30 return repair appt. Sat at the dealer. About noon they said my truck was ready to go, and that they had installed a new module and re flashed the computer. I drove away, got 1 block and the DIC lit up with Side detection temporarily unavailable.....immediatly returned to the dealer, the tech was at lunch so had to wait for his return.... they started working on my truck again, the Tech drove off in my truck and was gone about an hour, said the Lane Change Assist was now working fine..... but they still couldn’t get the side detection system working, I have a high end heavy after market bumper made with provisions for all original factory sensors, first they said one of the sensors was missing, having done the bumper install my self, I showed them right were it was located on my truck, then they said they wanted to keep my truck over nite, I told them I prefered to just bring it back tomorrow. The Service manager said that was fine and he would have a loaner car for me, he asked what I brought the truck in for. I advised it was a 3 fold issue, 1 side detection needed service, 2 lane change assist was unavailable & 3 cross traffic alert was not working..... also advised him that everything was working fine before the 10 software recalls were preformed, he rolled his eyes, like this was not the first time he has heard this......spoke again to the service advisor, said my radar detector could be causing a voltage drop, I told him that was nuts, as it had been installed in my truck for over a year with no problems, then he said that the sensors in the rear bumper were 8 inches away from where the are in the factory Bumper, the bumper is made for them, and worked prior, so that doesn’t make sense either, and the lane change alerts in the mirrors, come On sometimes briefly, so he concluded they need the truck again tomorrow for more trouble shooting....so about 4pm I took my truck home after being at the dealers all day, does seem like they at least got the lane change assist system working again, so not a complete wasted day.... when I got home I found the best part of my day, 2 brand new 2 inch scratches in my hood, took photos and left a message for the service manager, so we will be back at it again tomorrow....... good thing I have no life!!!!!
