Nice job!!!
I was debating whether to add on to the GMC wide flaps but didn't know if they would look funky but I like yours. How far did you hang them down past the OEM's.
I have no problem getting the Acc. on for 5 min. without starting the motor but is there anyway to extend the acc. time on more than the 5 or 10 min. allotted? It would be nice to listen to some Sirius XM while detailing my interior!!!
I have a GMC Sierra 2500 HD loaded. We haul our horses back and forth from Ct. to S. Carolina thru the mountains of Penn. and the Smokies (995 mi.) I kept getting "no trailer connected" fault like you. I talked a dealer in Ct. and (she was extra nice) sent me a service bulletin #21-NA-155 ( I uploaded the file). As the bulletin stated the OEM tuck side plug is made by Pollak and for proper fit use a Pollak Heavy Duity 7 pin 12-706 or 12-702 trailer side plug. My trailer plug was in perfect condition, no corrosion or damage but I wanted to stop this problem and was ready. It's to dam stressful to have problems on the road towing horses. I ordered the Pollak trailer side plug ( $13.) installed it. I hauled the horses to and from S.C. with no faults at all. I do have to say the Pollak plug fits nice and tight. While I was at it I installed 10' of new 7 strand wire back to the junction box in the trailer.

I towed a large horse trailer and my truck both loaded with our horse, 14 heavy bales of hey, 20 gal water, tools, etc. (app. 8000 lbs.+) on 89. The truck averaged 10.8 GPM for 987 miles from South Carolina to Conn. thru the mountains of Virginia and Penn. Power was no problem at all, ran great.
GMC sells a 2 camera set that plugs in near your 7 way trailer plug. They can be used inside your trailer if your trailering horses or anything else and they also show the other camera on the rear of the trailer to see traffic in back of you. I have a 2020 2500 HD and trailer horses and looked at them a year ago. I’m surprised the dealer didn’t mention them so don’t know if they still offer them. Go to GM parts. Lookup part# 19421453, good luck.
I have a 2020 2500HD Crew Cab X31 6.6L gas loaded. Just towed my horse trailer and pickup loaded, around 7500 + lbs. a 1000 miles thru the mountains and flat lands. I averaged 10+ mpg and no problems with power or handling at all going up the mountains and keeping up with traffic or faster. Didn’t feel the trailer at all. Good luck with your decision!!!
My truck is at the GMC dealership now getting the rear window resealed, both corners were leaking. They said there was a new TSB on it. That was on 12/09/2021.
