  1. It sounds like since I don’t really have a need for the 6.6 Duramax it doesn’t get me anything special. I’m guessing the 3.0 Duramax falls in the same category, although the mpg is tempting. The 6.2 in a 1500 for the hot rod feel is tempting. Don’t want the small turbo, and the 5.3 doesn’t seem too exciting. The 6.6 gasser sounds pretty reliable. I guess I have a lot of research to do.
  2. In the market for a new truck. My primary decision point is long term reliability and total cost of ownership. Thinking 20 years/ 300,000 miles is the goal. Ride is not a factor, mpg is not a factor. Anything I would tow could be handled by a 1500, but a 2500 would be ok and maybe give more flexibility if I have a need in the future. Would a 2500 with the Duramax be much better than any of the 1500 offerings? I’m just not sure what’s the best way to go for long term reliability. Thanks.
  3. 2020 Chevrolet Silverado Custom, 2wd. 4.3 V6. @4000 miles It had been raining pretty heavily in Florida the past couple days. Got in the truck yesterday and started it up, noticed a little bit of a funny smell. At the same time my wife opened up the passenger door and there was a large puff/cloud of smoke. Don't know if it was from in the truck (door area) or from under the truck. Then it went away. Almost smelled like electrical burning. Everything seems to be working ok, no warning lights, etc... I'm going to be making an appointment to have it checked at dealership, but probably won't be for another week. Any thoughts, or has this happened to anyone else? Not a good sign from a new vehicle in my opinion.
  4. I used the Sealight LED bulbs. Bought them from Amazon. I can’t remember, maybe $135 or so. Work awesome. 15 minutes to swap out. For high beams go in through wheel wells. They were discussed in detail in another post here a few months ago.
  5. I did a search on Etsy but couldn’t find that exact one. I’ve been lookin and that’s my favorite so far. Could you find out where you got it? Thanks.
  6. How much space do you have between the tire and upper control arm? I have a 2.5 front 2.0 rear and this looks like a great setup. And you just trimmed plastic and no metal? No rubbing?
  7. What lift do you have and what are the tires?
  8. Did you paint the factory mirror Caps and door handles or did you buy separate ‘paintable’ ones and have your body shop shoot them?
  9. Thank you for the info
  10. I guess I didn’t pose my question clearly. 1. What make and exact size are the 35” tires shown on the stock wheels? and 2) with those tires and 2” wheel spacers how much rubbing/trimming is required with a 6” lift? Thanks.
  11. 6.5” front and 4” rear is actually level. Ideal would be 6” front and 4.5” rear if I can find them. If not might do 5” rear to leave some rake. That’s not the point of my original question though thanks for pointing that out...
  12. I’m working on a project to do a 6” front and 4” rear and want to go 35” tires (Either 295/65r20 or maybe 35x?) if possible on stock wheels. What tires are in these pictures? What if any issues did you have with rubbing, and did you run any wheel offsets? With the lift I’m planning it kicks the front wheels out about .25” and was going to run 1.5” wheel spacers to clear spindles/links, etc... Which puts me at about a -28 offset and was wondering what kind of rubbing issues I’m going to run into. Thanks for any insight.
  13. Best news I heard all day. Thank you.
  14. With the wheel spacers did you have to trim the wheel studs or get shorter studs? Can you provide details on how those installed? Also, what brand did you use?
  15. Did the 1.5” wheel spacers fit without trimming the studs?
  16. Backed into my mailbox. Anyone know the best way to remove light scratching and scuffs? Northsky Blue color.
  17. Here’s what I’m thinking of trying. I have the basic Custom door mirrors without task lighting. Not that I think I’d use the task lighting much, but I think those mirrors look much better, and plan on painting the mirror caps to match my truck in Northsky Blue, which are not available off the shelf. There does not appear to be different door wiring harnesses between the Custom mirrors and the basic task lighting mirrors from what I have seen on parts lists, so I assume that the wiring harnesses are the same. If anyone has more detail on this please let me know. Now, I am also planning on adding the fog light kit. I am going on the assumption I can get the switch set for With task lighting and when I have the dealership reflash the fog lights then, if they weren’t plug and play, the task lights on the mirrors as well. Anyway, that’s my plan. Am I being naive? I don’t know if there is a different wiring harness to that switch. At this point all variables are in the wiring harnesses.
  18. I was wondering the same thing. Had asked on another thread but no responses. Side warning would be an extra bonus, but just the features you listed would be awesome.
  19. Added the Sealight LED headlights. High and low beams. Looks much better, can’t wait to try them out tonight. Hope they don’t bother other drivers. Super bright. Took about 20 minutes start to finish. Lows went in from the top. Highs went in through the wheel wells. Not a scratch on my arms.
  20. 2020 Custom 2wd 2.5” front/ 2” rear Motofab Stock 20” wheels and tires for now. Would like to go up a little on the tires, maybe a bit wider. Not sure if I want/need spacers and if so how much. Rear wheel well inserts will really help. If I go with spacers with stock 20 inch wheels I wonder how big/wide I can go without rubbing. So many variables to consider...
  21. 2020 Custom 2wd Dark lettering package. Debadged the tailgate and added the black vinyl Chevrolet graphics. Black tri-fold tonneau cover Black 12” antennae Tinted windows (@25%) with 70% ceramic windshield MotoFab leveling kit 2.5” front, 2” rear with shock extensions.
  22. Thanks. That’s exactly what it is.
  23. Was working on the frontend of 2020 Silverado 1500 and what I am guessing is the brake wear sensor or abs sensor pulled out. Looks like a little rounded magnetic plug. For the life of me I can’t figure out how to reinstall it. Any suggestions? Thanks.
