  1. I just received my 4600 bilsteins in the mail today from shock warehouse. I was surprised that the front ones came in brown boxes. Is this normal or can someone tell me if they're supposed to come in a different box? Just seemed a little too "generic" for the packaging.
  2. Sorry, I'm looking for chrome only.
  3. Does anyone included in this thread want to sell me their stock air lid? Mine someone has developed a crack and I need a replacement. I'm in MN but would be happy to pay for shipping if someone wouldn't mind helping!
  4. Anyone with a SLE or SLT grille that wants to sell, hit me up. I'm definitely interested.
  5. FYI I brought my 2017 Sierra into the shop today to have an issue looked at with getting "steering assist reduced" at startup. Long story short, I talked to the tech who worked on my truck about the noise you were showing. He said the majority of the trucks do that and it's related to the DI pump on top of the engine. He said nothing is getting hurt or will fail related to that click. Anywho, I'll keep my ears open on mine. For some reason it didn't hardly make that noise today but the last few days prior it made that noise clear as could be. I wonder if it has something to do with oil getting to the DI pump or if the DI pump has a lifter on it that needs priming of sorts. I'm going to look into how one works since I have zero idea.
  6. Brian, did you ever get this addressed or find out what it was? Or is this considered "normal operation"? I have a new 2017 with 3k miles on it doing the same thing. I sure dread going into the dealership to have my stuff looked at since it always comes back with a new scratch or ding. If it's normal I'll just let it be. Mine goes away after 10 minutes of driving and is fully warmed up.
  7. After everyone was out, I would have walked away and let it burn to the ground. That would have been about the only way to get them to replace that truck. I was in a similar situation with a lemon truck. Sadly my will to fight was no more. I ended up selling the piece of garbage taking a loss. I'm back to driving our old family beater Chevy Impala. :/
  8. I don't care about adjustability. I like the rake my truck currently has. I just want a suspension setup that will mimick the ride qualities of a late 60's chevy truck. Even at the sacrifice of handling. These new trucks are just too firm/harsh for my liking.
  9. Wait, I thought the 4600's were the softest, the 5100's were mid-grade (medium ride) and the 6112's were going to be the "off-road" shock with the harshest ride. Am I incorrect?
  10. I've been holding off a little bit to let the dust settle on all the new shocks coming out for these trucks. I have a 2015 Silverado Regular Cab Short Box 2wd Blackout Edition. The problem is, with the 20" wheels, every bridge expansion joint I encounter at under 40mph makes for a sharp "bang" when I go over them. I don't like how this treats my dash and other interior pieces. With that being said, what shocks are going to provide me with the softest ride possible? I never haul anything and my truck is just a commuter. If I could get the velvet ride of my '70 C10, I would be estatic.
  11. I called another dealership, their tech was nice enough to look up the specifications on the A/C system for my truck. He went through the tech specs and agreed that the maximum cold temperature that comes out of the vent is 50degrees. Nothing colder. This makes me wonder if it's possible through HP Tuners or EFI Live to make any changes to the PCM or BCM that would allow for colder operation. (I.E. higher fan speeds, compressor duty cycle, etc). Needless to say, I'm not happy
  12. They did a full evacuation and refill. All systems checked out (according to them). 1.7lbs of refrigerant was put back in. I interpreted it as "max" cold. I do understand what you're saying though. Are there any techs on here that can tell us what the information I posted means?
  13. Well, for those interested, I went into the shop this morning to have my A/C checked out. After my tech checked everything out, he thought the A/C output was lame as well. He evacuated the entire system, then refilled it. Same output as before (right at 49 degrees). He then went on the GM tech website and got the specs for my truck (see pictures below). Apparently these are designed to run at only 50 degrees output or thereabouts. We theorized if it was a capacity issue (these trucks only hold 1.7lbs of refrigerant) or if it was simply the fact that the e-fans don't spin up enough to exchange the heat properly. Either way, both my tech and the service writer encouraged that myself and anyone else who thinks this isn't cold enough to write GM customer care and perhaps they'll update the calibration for these systems. At any rate, save yourself the trip for now if your Air Conditioning is right at 49 or 50 degrees. That's all it's capable of doing.
  14. I have an appointment set for next Tuesday to have my local garage take a look at it. I'll fill you in with their findings.
  15. Well, I think I may need a visit to the shop sometime in the next couple weeks. My drive home today was in 84 degree temperature and I was driving in city traffic varying between stopped and up to 45 mph. My drive was 31 minutes long (I get off work at 4pm). The coldest I could get the A/C down to was 49 degrees. This is my trusty and verified thermometer. I wonder if it just wasn't charged up enough on Freon from the factory or what........ Does anyone else have vent temp results?
  16. My truck is just the Work Truck trim level so it has the manual controls. There's nothing "auto" in this truck other than the transmission lol ;)
  17. Hi guys, I have a 2015 Silverado W/T that has less than 2000 miles on it. I do a lot of short trips 10-20 miles at a time and the A/C has never been what I call COLD. But rather it's just cool and never gets cold enough that it's uncomfortable. My old 2004 Silverado is another story. That truck can blow some seriously cold air! Today I did some testing. I had a 15 mile drive home from work and I brought along my old trusty thermometer. It was 79 degrees and humid out so I decided to use the air. All the colder I could the vents was around 48-49 degrees. This was mixed driving with both highway (55mph) and idling in traffic. What are you guys seeing for temperature in your trucks coming out of the vents? Is this temperature normal now for these new trucks? Do you think mine might be a hair low on refrigerant? If this is normal, I guess I can accept it. I was just hoping it would be about 10-12 degrees colder to be like my 2004 Silverado. Any information, thoughts or observations would be greatly appreciated. For the record, this afternoon I took my wife's 2008 impala out in the same weather and I was pulling temps around 42 degrees with the same thermometer placed in the center vent.
  18. Yes, you can pull/insert it as needed while driving. I verified with Range that this is safe and won't hurt anything.
  19. Well, after the ring/pinion get replaced this spring (I only have 600 miles on the truck), it will probably be a good truck
  20. I love my Fort Wayne built truck so far. The only problem I have is a differential that started screaming with only 30 miles on it. I have to take it in to have it looked at this spring. For now it's in winter storage. :/
  21. RC45: I have a 2015 Silverado WT that I would like to put a leather steering wheel into. The WT came with no DIC controls or radio controls, just cruise only. Can I buy a leather steering wheel, and then remove the DIC control pad off? Does that filler plate unscrew or snap off my original steering wheel if I want to transplant it? Lastly, if I remove the radio controls (behind the steering wheel), will there be any holes or anything odd exposed? I was just hoping if I had my original wheel and a leather one next to it that I could transplant parts back and forth to make my own OEM styled leather wheel with just cruise controls. I don't want to make it look butchered or non-oem. What are your thoughts? I love what you did with the Tahoe.
