I just got my new truck last Saturday. I tried plugging into both the 4 prong trailer connector and the 7 prong (circular) connector, neither power my trailers lights. Thinking it might be the trailer, I plugged it into my old truck (2002 F-150 Supercrew) and the trailer lights illuminated. It's a small (500 lbs) aluminum flatbed trailer.
I haven't had the opportunity to look into the owners manual for which fuse controls the trailer light plugs, but I plan on digging into it first thing in the morning. I also plan on checking the connections on the wiring harness into the plugs. Is there anything else I should check or test? I'm leaving late morning Thursday with the trailer so I'm hoping can get it figured out before then. I'd hate to have to run the trailer with no lights.
I'd appreciate any advice or information that could help me figure out what is preventing power to the trailer plug connectors.
Thanks for your time,
Daryl
