  1. 2002 Chevrolet Silverado LS Z71 4x4 single cab 8' bed. No rust. 73.000 miles. . So there was a brake line leak. Went to very good mechanic. Fixed leak. BUT. The brake pedal now goes down more than before. And appear a tad softer. Mechanic double checked everything including anti-lock brakes. Could not get brake pedal to go back up higher or at original location. All brakes checked and double checked. NEXT Went to another highly qualified mechanic and had all brake system checked. Both mechanics state that this is normal. Nothing more can be done. Bakes work fine and stop truck. Currently. But pedal goes down further and is just different than before. Anyone with brake experience have any opinions ?
  2. Too many obtuse curves. Some day. Some manufacturer will market a simple basic truck.
  3. Well, that dash sound was weird. I did take truck to local mechanic and he heard the noise. As if continued I was going to have this looked at further. It was a muted sqeaky noise. It was there for weeks at a time. Then would go away. Then come back. Seemed to come from just above the ash try or thereabout. It did not sound like anything coming from the heater/fan. But who knows. It is gone now for quite awhile.
  4. Had noise on and off for about 4 months. Last year. So far, it's been gone for about 6 months.
  5. Put new OEM GM gray steel rims on my Silverado Z71. With new center caps. Less worry about salt corrosion here with aluminum alloy rims. Been on for 7 years now and still look new. Although the center caps have somewhat faded.
  6. Thanks. I need the foam replaced on my 2002 Silverado.
  7. Well. It's been a month now. And no squeak.
  8. Thank you for the answers. Note that the sound is sporadic. Sometimes no issues. No squeaking. Sometimes the sound all day or squeak one trip.
  9. 2002 Silverado 4X4 Regular Cab Z71 5.3 WHAT is this squeaking noise? Anyone? Truck has a minor soft low pitch sometimes intermittent muted squeaking noise coming from somewhere near the ash tray area - or near the airbag key/light on dash - or someplace nearby. Yes, have removed ash tray - that's not it. Could be coming from heater area. Noise does not fluctuate with heater fan. Heater fan Off. Still noise. Heater fan on any speed - noise is the exactly the same. No change is pitch or sound on any fan speed. Turn the engine off - then key in ON position - still squeaking noise.

  11. A very good post. I too made the great mistake to not check and DRIVE (ordered truck) after paying for and picking up truck. My 2008 GMC 1500. The truck vibrated. I should have driven truck before paying for truck. Driveshaft ultimately replaced. Ordered Heavy Duty battery. On one trip back to dealership for first oil change I wandered around dealership and viewed other new trucks. All had same battery as my truck and none on wndow sticker noted heavy duty battery. Either the factory screwed up or someone at dealership played skiparoo. It took a tad bit of work to get the dealership to provide a heavy duty battery.
