  1. Thanks for the replies everyone. I was mostly interested because it seems that these trucks are coming out of Flint with the spares installed contrary to the instructions in the manual. I was curious if any were showing up installed as recommended in the manual. Gemarsh, my spare did not have a safety cable and the lift cable can be retracted all the way up without a spare in there at all. For my part, I flipped mine around so it will be face up. I won't be dragging it across rocks, or I would just remove it all together or mount it in the bed or something. But I live in a rural area so I do a fair amount of driving on gravel and farm roads. Seems likely to get road rash or rock chips in my case. With regards to the tire stem issue, I have on board air so that can be corrected if need be. But more importantly, since this is a matching wheel, I plan to use a five wheel rotation pattern when I rotate my tires. So all five of my wheels will be spending time under the bed. And it's more likely that if I did need to swap a tire on the road that the pressure will be fine since it was recently being used. If anyone else is worried about checking the pressure with it facing up, I think that could be solve by installing a short flexible tire valve extension.
  2. I have a 2024 2500 HD AT4X AEV and I happened to notice that the owners manual shows that the spare tire and wheel for ZR2s and AT4Xs should be installed face up, or tire stem up if you like. And for all other models the spare tire and wheel should be mounted face down. Presumably this is because these trim levels, (AEV or not) have a matching spare wheel, not a less expensive steel spare wheel, and installing them face up is to protect the face of the wheel. However, the spare on my truck, two other AT4Xs and one other ZR2 I have been able to look under, all came from the factory installed face down. Just wondering if anyone else had noticed this and which way is your spare installed?
  3. This is follow up post from a few posts I put up back in late January. See pages 37 and 38 of this thread. The TLDR was that I ordered a 2500 HD in November of 2023 and by the time it was scheduled to be built it was not optioned as I had specified. So I had to re-order, with some new information about the ordering process provided by the folks in this thread, so again thanks for that. So the new truck has been built, it's off the train at the local depot, (whatever that's called), and waiting to go on the auto transporter for delivery to the dealer. Hopefully will be here sometime this coming week. 1GT49ZEY4RF419117.pdf Is there a way to make this PDF display in my message? or do I need to convert it to a pic file like a JPEG?
  4. I think I can provide some insight, but you might already know some or all of this. In case you did not see it, an upfitter kit has been released for the 2024 HDs that puts the switch bank in the center of the dash under the climate control, above the center console. It does not fit the AT4 and Denali trucks, presumably this applies to AT4X as well. https://404parts.com/products/2024-silverado-sierra-hd-upfitter-auxiliary-switches-package For the kit you linked to, 404Parts has put all the individual GM part numbers together that usually go into a full kit, minus the replacement trim panel, which isn't available yet. This includes the switch bank, the fuse block, the power cable, and the hardware kit. They are having you hack into your center console or on the gauge cluster trim panel, (shown above), to locate the switch bank. To make this work you also have to purchase an extension harness as well. I don't know if it would be possible to cut a hole for the switch bank in the AT4,AT4X,Denali knee bolster for a solution similar to the previous years models. Supposedly there will be a kit out in 2025 that includes a replacement trim panel for the AT4,AT4X, Denali. GM released a new upfitter integration bulletin for this, 193d, on May 30, 2024. The previous version, 193c, was published on January 31, 2024.
  5. Just wondering if anyone has insider info about this. I am not a fan of black, white, or silver/gray for vehicle colors. I prefer some blues or greens. In spec'ing out a 2024 2500HD I've noticed that Downpour Metallic, a blue color, is not available on AT4 and AT4X trims, even though you can get it on the Pro, SLE, SLT, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trims. Likewise, Thunderstorm Gray isn't available on the Denali and Denali Ultimate trims but is available on the other five including the AT4 and AT4X. Does anyone know why? I can understand why you wouldn't be able to get a color that comes on the 1500 like Dynamic Blue Metallic. Different truck built in a different plant. But my understanding is that all the HD's are built in Flint so those paint colors are in that factory. I can also understand limiting some colors to the upper trims, but the AT4, AT4X, Denali and Denali Ultimate are the top four trims and each one has a limitation that doesn't apply to the three lower trims, even the Pro.
  6. Just wanted to say thanks to Ozark and everyone else here that responded to my post. I have learned a lot about how the ordering process varies depending on the individual dealer. I specifically chose to go to this dealer because it is closest to me and in general they have a reputation for being fair and trustworthy. I had the option of going about 45 minutes away to a large, multi location, multi brand dealer who's name on the door has been involved in motorsports for decades. They do a ton of business in terms of volume. However, folks in the know tend to avoid them. As an example, two years ago when all of the supply chain issues were happening and supply was tight, they were tacking on a 5 to 10 grand "dealer fee" above MSRP. So, I won't do business with you now. I knew that smaller dealers would not have the allocation that the larger guys do. But I didn't think about individual dealer policies, like not sharing the workbench printouts or only the Sales manger puts in orders not individual salespersons, would be important. The irony is, that had they given me that printout on the day of the order, it would prove that GM messed up the order not them. Note to anyone else reading this, if you are going to order any GM vehicle let them know up front that you know about WORKBENCH and tell them you expect to get a printout before you leave the order meeting.
  7. My first post to this forum. I have looked back through this thread and am wondering what others got in the way of a build sheet when they walked away from the initial order meeting with the dealer. I sat down with the salesman at my dealer in early November and ordered at GMC 2500HD AT4X. With the salesman we spec'd it out with the exact options I wanted on the same build system you see when you go to the GMC website. He printed everything out and I reviewed everything to confirm it was correct. He told me that the sales manager, who wasn't there that day, would put the order into the actual ordering system. I kept contacting him wanted to get a specific build sheet from the "real" ordering system so that I could see a list of RPO/LPO codes and confirm that everything was correct. He kept telling me that he did not have one yet. On December 20th I got a generic email from GMC saying that the order was placed and gave me an order number. I asked the dealer again to see a build sheet or order sheet showing the RPO/LPO codes so I could confirm the options were correct. Got the same answer, we don't have that yet. Finally managed to get a copy of the order from them, week before last. It was printed out of their Vehicle Locator system. And sure enough the order was incorrect. So now the dealer is telling me they have no way to contact GM and get the order corrected, in fact they can't even cancel the order even though it hasn't been built yet and we don't even have a build date. Ironically, I got another generic email from GMC telling me that the order is still in process. All of this seems very odd. Dealer has been apologetic, isn't trying to force the truck on me. They are trying a few more avenues of contact this week but it looks like I am going to have to start over with a new order and the dealer is going to have a $100k truck sitting on their lot in a small town. Does this seem normal? Is it normal to not get an actual "real" build sheet when you leave the order meeting? Is it true that once the order has been accepted and an order number issued that nothing can be corrected and they order can't even be canceled? TIA
