  1. Heh, no biggie. I guess the cable wasn't it.... (!)
  2. Title says it all... About two months ago, for some unknown reason, the "pass through" function on my GMC entertainment system, does, indeed, invoke the google assistant, but it is silent and won't talk back. Example: Long Hold call button, get chime, say "text bubba", and, Google asst passes out. Used to say, maybe, Mobile, Home or work?, I would answer, and it went to town. Works great on every other BT device ,such as an external speaker, Jabra Speak console, etc.---even on the phone on its own. Just not in the car over BT. Tried all kinds of things, nothing fixes. Anyone encountered this? LG-G7 ThinQ.
  3. OK, just started happening in my 2016 Sierra. I'll try the language "fix" tomorrow. Worked great this AM, ran an errand, got out of the car for 5min, get back in, start her up, and, bang, will not recognize a voice command to make a call based on my contact list. I can say "Call 5551212" and it dials thru my phone I can read and listen to text messages, no problem. When I say "Call Bill at work", i get, "what type of destination?" one minute to the next, quit on me. I'll report back.
  4. Well, i must admit that fuel economy in trucks has improved quite a bit since my '91 F150 (had the 302 V8). I remember folks asking what mileage I was getting with that truck. I used to answer 13mpg. They would then ask City or highway?... and I would answer "correct". My Sierra gets 16-17 all day long in suburban driving and 21+ on the highway. That adds up on range. Most American manufacturers will size the tank for approx 400 miles range in the city. Doing the math on my truck, 400/16=25, and, hence a 26 gal tank. I am with you, though, if there was a choice of a larger tank, I would have "bought on" for sure.
  5. Boy, no kidding on that statement. When I think back, my first new truck I ever had was a '91 F150 XLT Lariat (RC/LB), the nicest one you could get at the time, My '16 Sierra Premium Plus makes that '91 F150 look no better than a work truck now-a-days, even though "back in the day" the Lariat was considered a pretty plush for a truck.... It had the real fake wood trim around the (almost perfectly square) center stack... LOL and a PLUSH, I say PLUSH, cloth velour-like bench seat with a (wait for it) FOLD DOWN ARM REST.... who-da-thunk.... On another note, it DID have one thing that is a thing of the past.... It had Dual Tanks on it, LOVED IT. 40 gal total fuel capacity. Wish I could still get that today. Only thing I really miss...
  6. I have an SLT "Premium Plus" (so-called) which, it is my understanding, is essentially as loaded a truck as you can get short of the "Denali-Only" features. AS indicated above, once you are in a Premium Plus, the list of features different between the two has shrunk considerably. I believe the biggest hitters were the magnetic ride, the upgraded Denali seating, the digital gauge cluster, a different looking grill, and, maybe a few additional smaller items. At the time I purchased mine, I didn't find myself in an incentive-rich environment, and the cost difference between the premium plus and Denali was more than I was comfortable with versus what "more" I would actually get for the extra money. And, of course, mine is a 5.3 8-speed versus the 6.2 8-speed. Personally (and I say this without having any experience with 6.2l, which is probably an obscene rocket, given that the 5.3 is no slouch itself), I am extremely pleased with my truck and like it very much. AS I am one of the folks that uses my truck as a car 95% of the time, and a truck 5% of the time, I felt the 6.2 was overkill for me, but, in the premium plus, I got all of the blinky-blinky-lights and buttons I wanted, and, really don't miss the other stuff. The digital dash would have been cool, to be sure, but knowing myself, I probably would have delightfully played with it for a few months, then set it up a certain way and probably never messed with it again (just my nature). Not sure if this clarifies anything more, but that's my $0.05. BTW, glad you are liking your truck.
  7. Probably. I'm with a few others here... I have seen some striping jobs that look awesome. I have seen some that are, well, wtf? Nothing wrong with it at all. Just a matter of personal taste. Keeps life interesting.
  8. Nope, no stripe here. Used to be a blood sport in the 80s and before...the dealer installed $300 $5 adhesive pinstripe... heh. I suspect the striping on your dad 's truck was added by the dealer, if purchased new, or possibly later, if purchased used. I believe pin striping is out of vogue now-a-days for most buyers. It's like fashion...things come and go. Remember the "gold packages" in the 90s? The gold badges and such? Hardly seen anymore on new vehicles... Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk
  9. my '07 had tremendous 3rd brake light assembly moisture issues. At one point, I replaced the whole assembly. The rubber seal on those is tricky and easily crimped, or installed where the rubber seal "slips" inside the race and gives a poor-to-no seal. In fact, the third brake light assy on my '07 caused a significant leak once that showed itself as a puddle under my drivers side floor mat. Also stained my headliner pretty bad. Worth checking often. Not sure if the approach on the later models is any different. Hadn't had a chance to crawl up there and look.
  10. I use it for my automatic garage door opener, that's about it. Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk
  11. Dang, I call those peepers of yours eagle eyes. I'm guessing a CA requirement.... Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk
  12. makes sense.... it's a cool looking badge....
  13. yeah, no _hit there......
  14. Yeah, mine has those shiny blinky blinky chrome wheels. Wouldn't have necessarily been my first choice in wheels, but still like them. My '07 Sierra had the brushed Aluminum wheels, and, like many others also indicated, they started flaking after a few winters. Clearly started where some ape obviously "missed" a lug nut with an air ratchet during a tire rotation. Wife's ('08) Enclave has the chrome wheels, and hers look brand new to this day. Thus, I was more than cool with the chrome wheels. I like yours tho. Also have the Z71 and trailer package on mine...
  15. You seem to have gotten my truck's twin. Is that a premium plus package? Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk
  16. Huh, just noticed that....on my cell, pics somewhat small.. Good eye. Yeah, what is that? Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk
  17. Exactly the same situation when I bought mine... Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk
  18. Nope, at least THREE of us... lol Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk
  19. Generally, my radio reception is OK, except for ONE AM channel. It sounds like i have a speaker going out with hiss/fuzz and scratching. If I change AM channels, it goes away. It;s unique to that one station. strange... Sometimes i like talk radio. Bingo, my situation exactly...
  20. I did extensive measurements on my '07, and disabling AFM had NO EFFECT what-so-ever on fuel economy (in real world driving). Interesting to see that this apparently holds with the later models as well. I am pretty darn sure the AFM was developed strictly to assist on the EPA testing cycle to establish fuel economy numbers. I am pretty sure that AFM eeeks out a few fractions of an mpg number on that cycle. In real world driving, probably makes no difference what-so-ever. I will say that on my 2016, it's a heck of a lot smoother and refined than it was on my '07. My '07 sounded like it was passing gas when it went into 4, especially with a flowmaster. Turned it off very quickly after hearing that... LOL
  21. Check with the schools security office/campus rent-a-cops or campus PD.... be surprised where they have cameras now-a-days.... Like you, I would get more even than mad if I found out who those slime balls were.....
