  1. Hoping for 200k out of mine too. Or at least until I retire which is quite a few more years.
  2. I saw this video the other day and thought it might help you.
  3. Just hit this mark on the way home tonight. I did the transmission thermostat flip over the weekend and wanted to see how it effected the trans temp. We went to Knoxville and did a little running around. When we got back to our exit, we stopped by Chick-Fil-A and sat in line for a few minutes. The trans temp got up to 158 but then on the 5 mile drive back home it dropped back to 153. Hopefully that will help with trans life along with my 15K mile/1 gallon trans fluid change out.
  4. I did the transmission thermostat flip. We took my truck to Knoxville tonight. Ran around a little. We stopped by Chick-Fil-A and sat in line for a few minutes. The trans temp got up to 158*F while in line. That was the highest I saw during the whole trip. We live about 5 miles away from Chick, the temp dropped back down to 153*F before we got home. So it is cooling and maintaining pretty cool. I am pretty happy with that outcome so far. I'll still do my 15k mile one gallon transmission fluid change. It's cheap enough and easy enough and may help. It cannot hurt.

  7. The fluid may never make it to the radiator. Leaving the transmission, when it gets to the thermostat housing it will take the path of least resistance and get sucked back into the transmission. Flipping the pill, blocks the short cut and forces the fluid to the radiator and then back to the transmission.
  8. You have to have 2 original keys? I bought my truck used at the dealer and only got the one key. ?
  9. I'll have to drive it to work one day next week and see how it acts. It used to be about 195*F when I got to work. It's about 40 miles one way.
  10. I cut the lid out because oil came out of my truck so fast the tiny hole could not handle it. I have since gotten the Fumoto valve and that is no longer a problem. I always drain the pan back into the empty oil containers and take it back that way. I built this rack and put the pan handle over the 1x4 and let it drain into the used container. Easy peasy.
  11. This is how much fluid I lost during the job.
  12. Another Pro is, it only takes about 30 minutes to complete. I even watched a video about how to reset my ipod so I could listen to it on my garage stereo while working. It says my last post was 56 minutes ago. I have flipped the "Pill" and reassembled everything, wiped my tools down, cleaned everything up, washed my hands and done. Only lost maybe an ounce or two of fluid.
  13. This guy taps the housing and puts in a plug which I will not be doing. But he says he has done it multiple times on several vehicles he works on. He also says the torque spec is 15ft.lbs for the mounting bolt.
  14. I believe I will give it a shot tomorrow. The good part is, it is easily reversible. Should be pretty easy. Still pretty clean for 2014 with 110k miles.
  15. I have been reading some of the threads about the trans thermostat and will probably remove mine to try and help it have a longer life. (Pro, hopefully) The job seems easy enough if you flip the "Pill" which is what I will do. I am at 110k miles. I have been changing 1 gallon of fluid since around 60k miles every 15k miles. Trans performs good at this point. I believe in preventative maintenance! Anyone that has removed the thermostat, have you noticed any negatives? I was wondering if it messes with the trans computer in any way. My truck is completely stock as far as tune goes. Tell me your Pros and Cons if you have done this mod.
  16. My 2014 would brake smooth around town, start to get off the interstate and it would shimmy!!! I wound up changing rotors all around and pads and that shimmy has gone away and has been gone for over 3 years now.
  17. I don't know if this is the same noise but, I had a rattle in my dash that was around my knees. You can take the lower dash pad off and there are 4 bolts that are loose.
  18. That's the first time I have heard of that one. Maybe there is a brake pad loose in the caliper? Hopefully someone will chime in and be able to help you out. That has got to be alarming!
  19. I hate to hear about the trans as i know you have been trying to sell for a while now. I would think that a new trans with warranty should help it sell.
  20. Your rear tires have zero toe in, zero camber, zero caster. They run perfectly flat on the ground at all times. That is the reason they wear flat across the tread if reasonably inflated. The fronts have to have camber, caster and toe in or else your truck would wander all over the road and require constant driver input to maintain a straight line.
  21. Washed my truck. Did a little interior detailing. Cleaned up under the hood. Tried out the new Mequire's hybrid liquid ceramic wax. I like it. I used my Porter Cable to put it on with and it comes off nice and easy. I hit every thing with it. I've done 3 vehicles with it this past month. So far it seems to be holding up pretty good.
  22. What is the correct torque for those upper control arm bolts? Just want to be sure mine are to spec.
  23. Watching that video just literally wore me out!! Literally!
  24. What about getting some spray on bedliner, like Rhino Liner or Bullet Liner, done in that area? That should handle anything and last forever.
  25. I tried the all the way down holding the button and all the way up holding the button to no avail. I may have to try removing the negative cable. Thanks for the tip.
