  1. Good news, glad it worked for someone. Maybe it will help someone else in the in the future.
  2. That would do the same thing. But it will also reset every module in the truck plus the ECM. I would just pull the fuse. I would just deal with the Keyless Entry for now. Disconnecting the battery usually doesn't cause any problems. BUT there have been times that it does. I have seen it lock up the theft module. And then you would have to deal with that.
  3. See if you can find the fuse that says DSM (Drivers seat Module, Remote Keyless Entry System). Should be in the fuse box under IP. If not look in your Owners Manual. Remove the fuse for about 20 minutes. Then re-install and see what happens.
  4. Thanks for the reply. By the way how is Santa doing? I thought maybe you might have some other means and was curious as to what it might be. I have had dealers cut keys. Also lock smiths. Had lock smiths come and cut keys. Have taken lock cylinder out of doors and had keys cut from the cylinder. So that was the reason I was curious. You need all the options you can get. Maybe some day you might be 500 miles from home and loose your key on a Saturday and no GM dealers are open till Monday. What do you do? All and any information is valuable. You never know when you are going to need it.
  5. I am aware that the dealer can with proof of ownership. He didn't mention anything in his post about having the dealer cut a key. Reading his post he didn't seem very excited about having the dealer do anything for him. There is more than one method of having a key cut. I was just interested in what he did. It might be of value to someone else in the future.
  6. Tell us how you went about getting a new key cut.
  7. A couple of things. Make sure if you replace it yourself be sure to use an AC Delco part. Some of the aftermarket resistors won't even last a day or two. Also check and make sure the AC drain hose isn't plugged. If it is plugged moisture backs up in the blower housing and cause corrosion on the wire terminals. KMGZ400, Did the dealer say why it wasn't covered under warranty? Was it because the VIN# didn't fall within the recall? I am assuming you are talking about your 03 Silverado. Below is a G.M Service Bulletin, Regarding the Problems with the Blower Motor Resistor, G.M. 8. Did you replace the ignition switch or the ignition lock cylinder? If it was the ignition lock cylinder You might want to try the following relearn sequence. I found this on another site. So I don't know if it will work for you not. But it is worth a try. 1.Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2.Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON, vehicle will not start. 3.Observe the SECURITY telltale. After approximately 10 minutes, the telltale will turn OFF. 4.Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. Important: The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.
