  1. Personally I use Adam's Polishes Car Shampoo it's the best I have ever used and it's very gentle, but still cleans good. http://adamspolishes.com/shop/exterior/carwashing/adam-s-new-car-wash-shampoo-16oz.html Since you can't towel dry it, you should try this blower....I got one a few months back and love it ! You can use it to dry your whole cover spot free...My Dad has one he uses on the grille, mirrors and other stuff to keep them from dripping water for days, but I have found you can almost dry the whole truck with it ! Just search this below on Amazon. Chemical Guys Professional Surface Air Dryer and Blower
  2. I don't blame you, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Now that you can open and close the tail gate without touching the cover....the MX4 got a lot better in my book.....the old version you couldn't do that was one reason I didn't buy that cover back in April and went with the Revolver X2. I think the vinyl on the Revolver will probably last for years and years and look top notch, but having it parked in a garage would make a big difference so it's not outside all day. These are both about as low a profile as you can get.....from the side you can hardly tell I have a cover on my truck at all....plus the rail system doesn't cover any of the Chevrolet logo on the side rails....another big plus ! It would be hard for me to pick one over the other now.
  3. I knew after I re-read that.....that it didn't sound right. I think the MX4 and Revolver are the 2 best covers out there right now.....With the 4th generation the Bakflip really got a ton better in my opinion.....It would be a hard choice between those right now. Plus the customer service BAK has given me is hard to beat.....in today's world that is worth a lot if you have a problem.
  4. I think you misunderstood me, that was the reason I didn't choose the last generation of the Bakflip back when I bought mine in April........that was be a huge deal to me too.....it was one of the reasons I chose the Revolver back then. I'm glad they fixed it with this new generation.
  5. Good review, appreciate you posting that. I saw an ad in the latest Truck Trends magazine for it and thought it looked really good....they made it so you could open and close the tailgate without touching the cover.....that was a big reason I didn't pick that one back in April when they had the last generation. Another reason was the person at the Leer dealer told me some of them leak at the seams quite a bit.....hopefully they improved that too.....on trips that would be a problem for us. BAK seems to be constantly taking customer feedback and improving their covers.....thumbs up to them !
  6. Thanks, I appreciate it......Had a lot of fun in that truck.....Kept it almost 23 years...(for me that is a miracle....lol)
  7. I don't know if they make them nowadays or not, but they used to make shocks for the hard covers that came with a new mount and shock that lowered the lift height and made it easier to lift also. The mount just lowered the mounting point on the truck bed, they worked better than I would have thought.
  8. I think it looks great, I had a Gaylords like that on my 90 and loved it for many many years !
  9. Now I have only had mine since April but it still looks like new....I use 303 Protectant on it, since I don't want anything running down the side of the bed when it rains.....but so far it's still perfect. Doesn't take much 303 at all......a little goes a long way.
  10. I had a terrific experience with them over the telephone....I couldn't get much service from email, but they helped me immediately over the phone and Fed Ex over-nighted my rails and the shims I needed. I thought that was above and beyond honestly.
  11. Mine is not 100% consistent across the back either.....so I put a shim on the rear right side rail and it raised inside of the rail so I got a little more clearance over the tailgate. When you look at your rail from the back....does it slightly sag down ?....if so some shims will fix that. If you call BAK and tell them what it's doing they will send you a pack of shims to handle it. This is mine....like you say not a ton of difference.....1/8" or so....but you'd like it to be perfect. This side on my rail was sagging...so I used a few shims and now it's pretty much level all the way across the back of the rail. See how this one is slightly bent up on the bed side of the rail.....that holds the cover a little higher.
  12. I 2nd that about their customer service ! I needed another set of rails because mine got bent in shipping....they overnighted me another pair....can't beat that.
  13. Mine is pretty much in the middle of his and this picture....the seal the cover is laying on is going to bump it up at least a little bit.
  14. You're welcome, glad I could help
  15. Not to butt in here, but I have a few I took that might help you. It is as flush a cover as I think you will find......from the side you just about can't see it at all. I picture this extra large so you can see the cover better.
  16. Mine is uniform across the front, but I believe the rubber seal that is stuck on the bed header is the main thing that keeps the rain out....so you should still be good so far as the rain. I almost wonder if this will lay down better after it's been in the sunshine a while....it looks like the seal is just not laying down properly in the middle. It is hard to tell 100% from the pictures....if it is really shorter in the middle it's not suppose to be like that.
  17. If you have the header seal in the right place you will only get a little water around the tailgate, every cover is going to leak there unless you get a tailgate seal. I can't comment on the cold weather since I've only had mine a few months....but I have read it does get a little stiffer in the really cold weather.
  18. I have only had mine a couple of months, but I love it.....wouldn't change my choice a bit. I wanted one that was water tight (or close) and was secure for trips....didn't make noise on the interstate....good flush low profile fit that didn't cover any of the Chevrolet logo on the side rails......it was honestly the only cover that could check off all those that I found. Plus you can open and close the tailgate without touching the cover....another plus
  19. That is a neat looking set up ! Glad they got you fixed up
  20. There aren't a lot of covers that will let you have them since they need to use the front stake pockets.....but there are a few ! I look forward to those pictures myself.
  21. I bet BAK will ship you one right away....they sent me a new rail when mine came bent last month (Fed Ex Overnight)....and they have sent me 2 different types of shims to try and get my fit exactly how I want it. They don't always reply to emails immediately, but if you call them they always get right on it ! Couldn't be happier with their customer service.
  22. Thanks I'll double check that tomorrow.....I have some shims from BAK coming in the mail today....I'm hoping I can get it leveled out with those. I wouldn't mind raising the other side to match the side that is up.....but I'm worried it might leak if I did that....the inner seal would still be against the tailgate so it might be okay. I do like how the raised side doesn't touch the tailgate at all....but we'll see what happens
  23. I bet we loosened and re-torqued that last clamp 4 times (while pushing down) to try and it get it lower....but it just won't stay down. I believe that last little bit of my rail......the part at the very end of the bed......is slightly bent up.
  24. I was thinking that might be the case, but wasn't positive. I was worried it might rub through the vinyl top with it sitting on top of the tailgate over years, so I was kinda liking the other side....lol I believe the rail is very slightly bent up at the end of the other side is why it's higher. Thanks for the reply, it's good to talk to someone who has one and knows !
