  1. 26 @ 400 is crazy impressive. I've done 26.3 on a 25, but that's it. I think my best 400 is around 21? Do you guys just go downhill and never back up?
  2. Cool, post up a video when you get done!
  3. 64 and under on flat ground is the sweet spot. Add hills, head wind, etc and it'll drop quick. I also don't run my cruise much unless it's really flat. The cruise isnt' very smooth even on little inclines and will drop it quick also. I averaged 26.2 on my last 25 miles from work to home. A few stop lights out of town, then 40-62 mph all the way up the highway, then about 45-50 on another country road for a bit. Pretty much ideal conditions.
  4. Agreed. Switching over to the heavier AT tires is when I noticed the biggest change on my last truck. This time I am also going to leave the front spoiler on (for now!)
  5. I put about 250 miles on this weekend. Mixed interstate, county highway, country roads (flat, temps in mid 60-70). Not bad at all. Driving back and forth to work I'm getting about 23 average. Life of truck 20.1 so far. Makes it hard for me to lift the front end a bit, but I'm still doing it
  6. This is a concern of mine too, except that I will have my dog in the kennel in a camper shell, so it could be even worse. It will have a carpeted headliner and rubber bed mat and spray in liner. I'm a flowmaster guy, but I like the sound of this 14" magnaflow. Did you say you kept the flapper and removed the resonator? Sorry, I've read a hundred posts since I quoted this one

  11. I fixed mine for $18 I believe that was the same code I had. Was just out of the 36k warranty. Now at 82k with no problems since.
  12. Guys I'm not on here much, but just went through this with my truck, I did not read all 24 pages Purchased my truck new (2008 5.3 Iron block, flex, AFM). Started using oil about 2 yrs ago, minor amounts between changes. I ran the truck about 1k miles then dumped that oil, then ran 5-30 dino valvoline for another 3k, then switched to mobil 1 syn up until 65k or so, changes about 50% OLM (maybe 4-4.5k). Once I started to notice it using more oil and before I knew of the issues (and TSB) I switched back to dino oil 5-30 valvoline and consumption went down some, but not much. I noticed heavy oil consumption when towing and running in 3rd gear. My last trip from Indiana up to the UP of Michigan I ran 1250 miles pulling a 3 place snowmobile trailer running about 65-70 whole trip, nearly 2800-3k rpm generally. I used 1.5 quarts of oil, just like the same trip a year before. I took it to my dealer and they put in 8 new pistons and rings the TSB fix (oil tube, deflector, etc) no questions asked. I've only put on about 2k since then, but no oil usuage. I broke in the new rings just like I would on any new/rebuilt motor and I'm about ready to change the oil again. I don't have any towing trips planned, but I'll post again if I see any consumption. Thanks- Jason Edit: Sorry truck has 82k on it, they did the fix around 80k IIRC.
  13. I just put the 214-2149 on my 07 Sierra (new body). It also has 40k on it. $31 all in. I bought 3' of 5/8 heater hose and had 18" left over. Cleared the code with a code reader, and so far it has stayed off. You will just need to find the right curve for the hose. Any repair that I can do with a screwdriver and a knife is for me. I have the same issue on my '08 now. The part number calls for the entire kit, solenoid and vent and I only need the solenoid. My part has two hose connections, one from the canister and 1 to the vent. It looks like this part you mention only has one outlet is that correct? My part is $86 at Rock Auto, this other part is less than $20 and I'd like to go that route if possible. Ok, I got my part at the dealer. For the NBS, mine is an '08, it is 214-2236 and cost me about $30. I got a couple feet of 5/8 heater hose and some clamps and you can see what I did below in the pics. The reason for doing this is that you have to cut the OE lines (plastic) to get the old part out.
