  1. Yeah that's one area modern stuff hands-down beats the old reliable 350. Sealing surfaces & materials have improved tenfold, at least.
  2. If the nut is too loose, you will know the minute you decelerate from speed - the rear will HOWL like hell. Put your foot back in it, and it'll be dead silent. Too tight will do the opposite - howl under load. I'm going from memory from long ago, so I could have that backwards ... Sounds like your pretty close now - could take it for a short ride and see what you've got for sounds. Hopefully none.
  3. Glava, that Z is friggin MINT! Don't see many with the original decals on them anymore. SWEET!
  4. That's what I did in my barn. Just restored the old 8 footer T12 fluorescents. Managed to find brand new magnetic ballasts too - threw one in back in '12 - waiting for the other light to croak before I install the other ... although the buzzing/flickering is getting annoying. Should be set for another 30 years now.
  5. My ceiling fan here electrocuted me on the neutral side, breaker off, when I installed a new fan. Don't even know how the thing ran like that - was hooked up that way when we moved in, and was like that for 10 years. Never had a problem, until the Home Depot unit fried it's electronics (integrated in a way that made bypassing them impossible - figures!). Since there was no neutral, I had to ground the neutral lead. Might not be to code, but it works, lol.
  6. I should probably check the operation of my spare winch ... seeing as how I've never touched in in 9+ years of ownership ...
  7. Never liked those generation Elkys, but that's a nice looking one there. Grab it Sarah!
  8. That's actually not too bad for around here, lol.
  9. Did a set of rear strut assemblies on a '00 Taurus yesterday. My hands look like I was in a bar fight. What a battle! 10 minutes with the air chisel, and a pint of acetone/tranny fluid to get them out of the knuckles. Then, the whole back seat has to come out to remove the rear deck to access the 3 top bolts. Way to work, FoMoCo ... Nice metal on this thing too:
  10. I straighten mine out a few times a year, every year ... but yet it still looks the same.
  11. Towards the end of the day, I won't even see a wrench that's right in front of me ...
  12. I spend most of my day looking for things, and maybe 3% of the time actually working.
  13. I'd probably fall under the hoarder category ...
  14. Shouldn't be too bad, seeing you're from GA. Up here, they usually either rot completely off, or the bolt is so rusted you strip the Torx splines right out of them. My '94 S10 plow truck's tailgate is held on only buy the upper locking mechanism ... Cutting torch is the only way what's left of them will come out.
  15. Had to make one more lumber yard run for 5 more sheets of plywood a couple days back - porch roof deck was worse than I thought once I stripped the old roof off. Making progress though. Got all the edge metal on & capped. All seams sealed, and 2 of them capped. Day 5 starts now. Just have to reinstall siding, and put a cap sheet on one last seam, them I'm DONE. Finally! Been putting this off for 13 years, lol.
  16. Yeah, that was my '94 - I could smoke just about anything stoplight to stoplight. That thing got out of the hole so fast it would snap your head back, lol. I loved blowing the doors off brand new $80k luxury cars commuting home from work. They never caught me before their lane dropped.
  17. Definitely Fisher-Price! But, you're absolutely right - never had one issue with the gauges, buttons, or lights. The dash only started to crack if parked in the sun daily for 10 years.
  18. Yeah, I caught that and edited, lol.
  19. Holy crapper!! That thing is BEAUTIFUL! And a carbureted LS2? I think I'm in love!!
  20. Thanks man - it's a big hit in town. People drive all the way up here just to see it, and take pictures.
  21. Wow, nice! That must be the weather that's headed this way for Sunday. We only it 56° today, but I got a sunburn working on the roof in the clear blue. Would much rather be crusin' in a rag-top.
  22. I see everyone got the clear blue skies the past couple days too.
  23. Thanks for the info Chris - I found the Combat Shadow on Google - that was the one. It didn't have that hump on the nose After seeing those specs Chris posted, your right about those engines Ryan! BIG POWER! Could tell just by the sound - just shook the entire earth, lol. Was AWESOME to be that close! Never seen anything like that in all the years I've lived in MA. They started doing these runs a couple years ago. Played contractor with the truck today. Picked up some fiberboard insulation, edge metal, and plywood for my porch roof project. Took me 8 full hours to get the roof ripped, and I'm still not done. Ice and water barrier does not come up very easily. Back- breaking work! Need 4 more sheets of plywood tomorrow - deck was all rotted worse than suspected. Not surprised, since the roof was trashed when we bought the place in '03, LOL! Got my use out of that roof! Going to be laying down 60-mil white EPDM rubber. Haven't played with this stuff in 20 years. Like riding a bike - it'll come back to me. My back is KILLING me right now. Flying solo - no help. This stuff was alot easier 20 years ago. Everything got heavier ...
  24. Finally flushed the OEM brake fluid, greased the front end, and threw the summer wheels on with the brandy-new set of Hankook Ventus ST . Noticed my year-old upper control arms and bushing shells are all rusted already. Moog too, wtf. Was not happy with GM today - hell of a spot to put the rear bleeders! In between the lip of the backing plate, and the brake line fitting. Can't even get a bite on it with a 8mm open end. Have to use the boxed end ... but it has to be 12-point if you want to move it! All mine are 6 point. Trying to bleed solo with a MityVac on this setup is a royal pain in the ass. Thanks again, GM - you sure know how to build 'em! While I was out there working, a pair of C-130s strafed my property, lol. They were 150' off the ground, maximum, and hauling ass! Came up so quick I barely had time to look toward the thunderous roar, and could see the pilot clear as day! That's how close to me they were. Just as I watched in amazement, another one snuck up behind me and banked right, directly over my barn. My security cameras picked up the giant shadow moving at 200 MPH, or however fast they were going (if not, faster, I'd bet). They were jet black - couldn't see any markings on them. Probably why they were flying low - maybe they didn't want to be noticed. By the time you know they're there, they're gonzo. That was a goosebump-inducing event! Pretty cool. Go git 'em boys!! Check out the vid at the bottom. Watch closely for that shadow- it's MOVIN'!!! http://vid297.photobucket.com/albums/mm215/jjs05polaris/Forum%20pics/MVI_5585_zpsuqghpfym.mp4
  25. Next up for me is the summer wheels and brake fluid flush. Still on the OEM fluid ... only 85k miles, but, on year 9 this month. Slackin', big time ... Was going to do braided steel lines, but the thing feels pretty good stock - gonna leave it be and spend the money on more useful things. Saves me some work in the process. Starting to smell rotten egg exhaust, and the computer is locked up - can't access any PIDs. Going to wait until I get a sticker before I disconnect the battery, & see if that fixes the magic box. Gotta love it!
