  1. I finished the other CV Axle last night. Feels good to have this project complete and while I was in there I cleaned up all the grease from the boots on the other axles. When I rolled under to put the skid plate back on I looked at the angles of the axles and to me they do not look that bad so I am wondering when the dealer had it if they just looked at the angle while the truck was on the lift because the whole front suspension is drooping so the angle looks really bad on the axles but on the ground I think they are fine.
  2. i really thought about getting new control arms and having them ready to install at the same time but I had been wanting to get this done for awhile so I was patient enough to find some and then wait for them.
  3. I fixed the rubbing noise on the driver side last night. It was just a bent dust shield behind the rotor from when I set the hub assembly on the ground. Thank goodness that was an easy fix. I didn't feel good yesterday so I didn't start the passenger side yet but it should go twice as fast being I know exactly how to do it now and I took it real slow and easy on the first side. I did overthink this mainly from watching a guy on youtube who kept stressing about how bad it would be to bust a boot or clamp while he was installing a lift kit on a 2019 silverado but this was easier than installing the leveling kit itself. Also I thought about just re-greasing and fixing the boots on the driver side axle I took off and move it to the passenger side then take the other one back which would leave me with 1 spare axle or just go all new and have 2 spares which I will try and restore anyway or I could sell them.
  4. I know this thread is old but I am having some noise on my 2020. I installed a 2.5" motofab leveling kit and that was a couple of months ago but after I got it on I heard some grinding noise almost like a brake tab letting you know you need new pads but while rolling and no brakes it made the noise. I decided to check all my bolts and when I noticed an upper strut bolt wasn't tightened all the way I tightened up and the noise went away. Just yesterday I replaced a cv axle and i went for a test drive and i hear same noise so I checked all the bolts and none seemed loose. I didn't have time to go back and take the wheel off to see what it was but I will try tonight. I feel like its the plate or shield thing behind the rotor or the one on the outer axle that is right behind the hub assembly.
  5. I have a 2020 Lt silverado 1500 which comes with a chrome bumper. I am in between being that I like some chrome but not too much. I had my front bumper wrapped in Vinyl at a local truck accessories place and it looks really good to me and I also added a little more chrome by adding billet strips to the grill. I am thinking about wrapping the rear bumper as well but first I want to add the lower chrome fascia like what comes on the higher up Silverado's like high country and ltz's.
  6. I got the driver side completed and was pretty easy. I took my time on the first side but the next side should go pretty easy. Little harder to get axle through hub than I thought and the part I worried most about was the easiest (removal of the axle at differential) I do have a rubbing noise when driving and it’s the same noise it made after I installed my leveling kit a few months ago but it went away after tightening the upper strut nuts but this time I checked everything and all seems tightened up. Didn’t get time to go back in and look but I believe It has to be the shield or whatever it is behind the rotor or the thin plate on the outer cv axle that’s right behind the hub. It’s a metal grinding or rubbing type noise.
  7. pretty sure it was from install only but I dont have a lot of miles on it with the lift on to tell if they will damage boots
  8. Be careful with the cv boots. I just got back from picking up 2 cv axles at my local Chevrolet dealer to install on my 2020 because they wouldnt cover under warranty which mine are messed up mostly from the install. I have a 2.5" motofab upperstrut. If the little clamp comes off of the boot you pretty much have to replace the whole axle.
  9. can you not work the axle out without removing the rotor or lower control arm knuckle? I dont have to disconnect the sway bar do i?
  10. is it easy removing the axle from the differential?
  11. GM looked at my truck and said I needed new cv axles and that they were replacing them under warranty until I brought it back after they received the axles that were on back order and then said they couldn't do it under warranty after looking at it closer. They quoted me $1400 to do the repair but that included replacing my leveling kit I have on it now which is a 2.5" motofab upper strut spacer. I tried calling and arguing saying motofab made this kit for this truck and really all that needs to be done is add some new clamps and pack some more grease on the ones I have but couldn't reach them yesterday so I went ahead and just ordered a front axle off of a trailboss since they are longer to accommodate for the lift since it was only about $175 and I will try and replace my self and if that goes smooth I will go ahead and order a 2nd one for the other side. So if anyone has any info on removing and reinstalling cv axles it would be appreciated. Im not sure what all I will have to disconnect just to remove the axle as far as the upper control arm, sway bar, struts, etc.??
  12. It should be about level. I had a 2" lower strut kit from rough country and I also have a 1" block in the back. I was a .5" high in the back then i put the 2.5" upper strut kit from motofab but havent checked it since then.
  13. I got an LT with the motofab 2.5" in front and a 1" in block in the back. I have factory control arms because Ive heard 3" and above is when you need different ones.
  14. oops. I guess I took a quick glance and its Monday but I thought it was an 18 model or something. It is the current model. lol
  15. My radio keeps telling me to sign in with password but even if I do it will keep giving the notification randomly to sign in but I have just been dealing with it and just hit use without password. How do I get this to stop showing up? I have tried entering password but it still comes back and I am logged into my chevy app on my phone.
  16. I added fog lights to my z71 LT. I got a chevy /oem fog light kit and installed myself using a GEN5DIY harness which is a little easier but the fog lights come with the new head lamp switch with the added fog light button. With the harness my fog lights are on anytime my head lights are on. If you are installing the whole chevy/oem kit yourself then you have to carry to the dealer to get it flashed or programmed which in the end is about the same cost as the aftermarket harness install.
  17. That is an older body style truck but there is a chrome piece similar to that on the LTZ and High Country trucks. I have been wanting the chrome piece on my LT and its called lower fascia. I thought just the chrome piece was all i would need when originally looking for one but you have to change the lower cover (black plastic under bumper) as well.
  18. I didnt take a measurement when it was stock. But it was .5" higher in back with the 2" rough country in front and 1" block in back. Havent measured difference with the 2.5" motofab kit.
  19. so you had regular axles like for an LT and swapped to Trail Boss axles?? what all did you have to remove to get axle out other than the wheel and axle nut? what did you use or how did you get the inner axle pulled out?
  20. thanks man. It seems fairly easy to do. shafts are only about $130 from what i see if one did get messed up. Wasnt able to open the links for instructions to some of the items but should be able to do with out. Also directions call to remove skid plate on all level kit instructions but didnt do mine and not sure why you would need to.
  21. The lower kit is real close to CV axle and also wanted the extra .5" after adding 1" in the back. My next color choice was satin steel metallic.
  22. I took off my 2" Rough Country lower strut kit and installed the 2.5" motofab upper which was a pain in the a&$ doing by myself. I also installed a 1" block in the back awhile back. Here are some after pics finally. Shouldve waited til I washed it but you cant see the dirt lol thats why I got a white truck.
  23. Im missing it I guess. I see the outer cv is bolted with the axle nut and the differential is bolted to the truck but nothing about the inner axle. All I know is to take the axle nut off and push axle through hub then use a slide hammer for the inner because i dont see any bolts holding it on like the older models.
  24. Unless I missed it I didnt see anything in those instructions showing how to remove it. It only showed the axle nut removed and the outer part pulled through hub which I believe is the easy part but it doesnt show anything for the inner cv connection to differential.
