So I was pretty stupid yesterday and I just got a this beautiful 2016 1500 30k miles in the crimson red and it came with theses butt ugly pinstripes so of course I did what any one would and went and got a 3M Pinstripe eraser wheel and took it to the pinstripes and my speculation is that I had the drill on too high of a setting possibly on the first section as you can see in the pictures it left like a yellowish streak mark in the paint. Then I turned the drill way done and suprize suprize the rest of the truck looks flawless. So what do you all recommend I do to correct that section? I’m really not even sure what to call the damage. Burnt? Thanks in advance.

I purchased a brand new Suburban in 2015 from Sawgrass Chevrolet in November 2015. Over the last 6 months my husband and I noticed the paint on the hood of the vehicle is faded and has noticiable swirls. I had it evaluated by a auto body shop and they confirmed the paint is defective and there is no clear coat. I've also been told by the dealership that this is a very common issue they have seen on the hood/ over the engine. Yet, there is nothing they can do, I must contact GM. How is it possible that this is a know issue and there is no resolution. My car is just over four years old! My 10 year old Ford Expedition's paint looked close to brand new compared to this!!! Does anyone have any advice or recommendations? CLASS Action lawsuit?????

Yesterday I noticed that some paint had come off my 6" round steps. I have heavy duty mud flaps. Now when I bought the truck, a 2014 Sierra All Terrain, I was very particular about having 'the least amount of chrome possible'. That's the reason why I went with the OEM black side steps (a friend had recomended against going aftermarket). I'm dissapointed that 18 months after I got the truck, these steps are already looking like crap because (as you can see in pic 2) paint adhesion isn't that great. There's bubbling visible and I am worried another big chip is coming off soon. And after next winter, all I will be left are some ugly rusted out side steps. Is this covered under waranty? Does anybody knows?

Hey All! New to the site and new Chevrolet owner. I have a 17' Silverado in the Scar'e blue (or deep ocean metallic) Anyway its new to me but only has 30000kms (18700 miles) on it and I seem to notice the paint is weak! I have a ton of scratches on the rockers where the pervious owner must of dragged his feet to get it and even on my box right after the mud guard where its rocker guarded, i;ve noticed chips. Now its cold here in northern Ontario, but I bought a paint pen and spring is around the corner anyways! Do any of you have this issue of weak paint? and if so do any of you know about the strength of the primer (like will it take a while to rust?) Thanks !!!

I have recently removed my dl8 mirrors off of my 17 Silverado. I can text pictures to anyone who is interested (im posting on my phone) asking 165.00 shipped I also removed the painted black door handles and mirror caps (clips are good) removed from same truck at 2500 miles. I went to chrome. Asking 275.00 shipped for the handles. Again, pics can be provided via text or email. Items are "like new" condition. Thanks. Dm me email addresses or cells for pics. When I get to work I'll try and post pics. Thanks

I am going to apply a nano ceramic paint protectant to my 2020 Sierra 1500 Elevation X31 off-road. I did not purchase the $1K option at the dealer as that is a warranty instead of quality. What nano ceramic protectants for the paint have you had great experience with? I am also looking for experiences with interior nano ceramic fabric protectors. All the research I done results in no correlation and no input from real life.

My '18 suffered bad hail damage. Hood, roof, and front quarter panels need replaced. PDR on everything else. Total payout from insurance is $11k. I need to choose a body shop and am curious what I should look for. The Chevrolet dealership here has a collision center and I'm wondering about going to them. Particularly, my concern is getting good replacement parts and paint put on. I don't want crappy paint that doesn't match or last like OEM does, and was thinking the dealership shop could get the exact paint color directly. Or will I just end up paying more if I go there?

Does GM have any unpublished warranties on paint for 2003 trucks? I was cleaning the exterior windows tonight and noticed large areas of clear coat are missing / lifting off the top of the cab.

Hi folks, I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT. It’s beautiful & has many years of life left in her. I’m starting to see a tiny bit of rust/paint bubble in the rear wheel well & along the bottom of the door. What can I do to stop it before it becomes really noticeable? Thanks

I purchased my 2014 Sierra 2 years ago with 20k miles on it and within a couple of months I noticed the paint bubbling of the side walls inside my bed. Took it to the dealership and it was under warranty so dealership played for it. Within 6 months the paint stared to bubble off the doors, took it back and warranty was expired so neither the dealership or GM would cover the paint. Paid over $1,000 to get the doors resprayed. Now he paint is bubbling and flaking off the portion of the bed that was not resprayed, the roof of my truck, and around the front windshield. I am starting to hear people complaining about the same issues. Anyone having this problem?

Does anyone happen to have a recommendation on where I could take my truck to get the grille and bottom chrome (skid plate cover?) piece painted in the Houston area? I am looking to get my grille surround color-matched to my stock color (Mineral Metallic) as well as the mesh/honeycomb of the grille and the lower chrome piece both painted a satin black. I am hoping I can find a shop that can remove, paint, clear-coat and reinstall these pieces for a reasonable price. I also have the paint code (WA433B/GJB), so I could source the paint myself if it were to make it any cheaper. Does anyone happen to know how much of the Mineral Metallic paint it would take to paint the grille surround, and maybe the lower door mouldings as well?? I'm looking to do something similar to the picture of the red truck, however instead of color-matching the lower piece, I believe I'd go satin black with that as well. Thanks!

Lets see all your custom vinyl graphics (stripes, bumper wraps etc) or paint additions. I'm thinking about a two tone vinyl wrap addition for my white truck - rendering below.

Well, what I had feared since the day I had my Xpel paint protection film applied happened this morning. Going down the highway, a truck kicks up a rock. It happens in slow motion as there is nothing I can do but watch it careen towards me. Thud, it hits the front of the truck. Whew, I was afraid it was going to hit the windshield but thankfully I have Xpel on the entire front of the truck so it will be protected.....nope. A you can see below, the rock caught the edge of the film and the film just tore away. Mostly I'm truly frustrated because of how the film doesn't wrap the edges of the panels and even comes up short of the edges a bit. I questioned this after the install and my installer said that was the way it was because that's how the patterns are cut. I just knew this would happen at some point and sure enough....boom. I'm also not too happy with how easily the film tore. I get that it's a think film but it shouldn't peel back like that. I know, I'm ranting and complaining and blah blah but after dropping $1K to try to protect the tricoat paint, this does irk me a bit. I know many folks out there have used Xpel and it's had held up fine but I just wanted to vent a little and give people something to consider. I guess I'll have to contact the installer or Xpel direct to see what they will do.
