Love the flags!

So, I'm cheap, so I bought the OEM-copy 6" rectangular steps from ebay for $165. In getting them mounted, I noticed that at one end, the rubber pad is about 5 inches from the end of the rail. At the other end, it's about 7 inches from the end. Anyone who's truck came with this style steps from the factory able to tell me which end is front? My truck is a crew cab. Thanks.

I got my steps installed this weekend, once I finally got the right ones. Some idiot (he says, trying to look innocent) ordered crew cab instead of double cab, the first time around. However, once I straightened that out, they went on pretty well. They're eBay copies of the OEM rectangular ones, but I had them at my local Chevy shop, and they said they looked identical to them. The only difference they saw was that the factory ones come with the brackets attached to the rails apparently. Mine came in pieces, and I had to figure it out, with no instructions to help. The only real problem I had was that some of the little clips that go in the body holes didn't line up, so I couldn't get the bolts through. With a little bit of creative re-shaping of the clip, I was able to make it work (and I only lost one of them down into the body panel!). I went back and forth over the "chrome" vs "black" debate, and I'm pretty happy with my decision. I probably would have been equally happy the other way though too.

Could someone who has the OEM 6" oval style steps (mine are the new ones that are actually rectangular, but they still call them oval) take a look underneath the step, and help me understand how to attach the step to the brackets? Mine came in yesterday, and I've spent today trying to figure this out. There were no instructions with them, and the only installation instructions I have found online are not exactly helpful.

So I got the Lo Pro QT installed today, and I think I'm going to be very happy with it. I had an Extang Revolution on my previous truck, which I liked, because it does not use velcro at the sides, and held down tightly. However, it was a difficult to lock down (yes I adjusted the tension several times), and it required two latches to be released before you could roll it back. Doesn't seem like much, but it became a pain. I also had some leakage issues with it. This one seems to be much better on the sealing issue. The front seal seems very solid to me. Very little light showing through when I crawled under the closed cover, so I feel confident I won't have much if any water leakage there. The rear looks like it seals more securely as well. I'll add an update once I get a chance to test it further. Here it is installed:
