  1. All right, I can agree with that.
  2. I know it, but clearly the OP says it does and other may believe him.
  3. Got that, but you said "tons of power" you lost me there.
  4. Tons of power, please explain as all the range does is fool your ECM to keep it from going into v4. You could do the same by feathering the throttle. I just don't get the tons of power statement. Add another $200 to what the range cost and you certainly will have tons of power. Just saying.... Mike
  5. Steve, thanks for the insight. Hopefully others will gain knowledge by this discussion. Mike
  6. I was on the fence myself, I went with Lew from Diablew custom tuning couldn't be happier http://www.diablewtune.com/ He does road tuning specific with your vehicle, very responsive and a great guy to work with.
  7. IC, so if I was to say remove the third cat, open up the exhaust and put a high flow air cleaner on, it would eventually learn or is that to much? Just curious. Thanks, Mike
  8. Just to let others know that want to remove the third cat. When I did it, I was in the process of doing tune runs for my custom tune, Once removed I drove another 100 miles or so and did a 1800-2500 rpm steady drive recording, my data shifted lean meaning Lew had to fatten up the mixture. I'm unsure if the ECM on these trucks has a learn ability so I would be cautious in removing it if you don't plan to tune ( I say cautious, as 20 years ago I blew a hole through a piston on my scooter that shifted lean. It was a 12.5:1 compression EVO motor) I know the late model Harley (FI) ECM can adjust for exhaust but not for intake. Just my experience, Mike
  9. Absolutely agree that this may work for some on a budget, hell I did it just to see what it sounded like. It wasn't to my liking so I changed it out to a fake magnaflow (it actually wasn't a whole lot better then muffler delete). So I decided that I wanted to remove the third cat in doing so it was discovered that my Magnaflow was a fake and the muffler shop used some 2" pipe to run the exhaust out the back. I had it all replaced with 3" and a real Magnaflow 14" with the third cat cut out. Now it sounds like I wanted it to initially. It's not raspy, deep and throaty best describes it. Mike
  10. No, it's where the two manifolds connect and yes before the muffler (look like [/url]) DoD='s V4. I wasn't to worried about warranty but that's just me. Yes I have mine tuned.
  11. I'm curious if you notice this "drone" when V4 is activated? I see you wrote under load, hence my question. I've got a 14" magnaflow and third cat delete with DoD turned off, I don't have any drone that I can detect. Just curious. Mike
  12. I understand the helping people out statement, I too try to do the same. My comments were not related to you or your ride, only my experience. If your happy with it, great. Some will be happy with the muffler delete, I wasn't! Granted you will have more exhaust decibels, just not a deep throaty sounds. I would best describe it as a burble. Louder-yes just not what I wanted. Key word is I.
  13. I believe you meant manners.....Manners has nothing to do with it, one thing I am not afraid of is the "truth" and from my experience that was the truth. Enjoy what you've done, I for one thought it sounded ghetto. Hence the reason I've made two changes since. We all have our own taste. Clearly you like it, enjoy!
  14. Hmm I started first with muffler delete, sound was different but not much else. I then removed the flapper, still sounded like ah what's the word I'm looking for .....Sh!T comes to mind. Then I had a fake Magnaflow installed (I was unaware that it was a knock off)....sounded better. Then I had the third cat removed, a real magnaflow 14" installed along with a custom tune and now it sounds and performs sweet! Just my experience. Mike
  15. One caveat to the above statement. It isn't what it was, once you get it tuned, Trust me! Mike
  16. Nope, it is what it is. Unless you get her tuned...
  17. I paid $485 here . That included the intune and custom tuning by Lew. The $485 is good for a year with free updates if you add a CAI, exhaust etc... after that there is small fee.
  18. I had my truck tuned by Diablew, finished last Saturday with my WOT tuning. I've since put roughly 160 miles on the latest ECM update. My fuel trims are settling in and I'm beginning to see much better fuel mileage. currently I'm getting 17.5 over the 160 miles but my mileage over the last 25 miles has steadily increased (currently at 18.2) All city driving with an occasional heavy foot. My DoD is turned off, no more V4 and couldn't be more pleased. During my tuning process, I removed the third cat, replaced my fake magnaflow(MF)18" with a MF 14" and had 3" pipe ran thru-out. I'm sure the exhaust/cat removal combined with the tune are contributing factors to my increase in fuel mileage. Mike
  19. 3.42 is the differential gear ratio. Mike
  20. Yes- I'm dialed in and I'm loving it! The torque management along with the transmission shifting and overall drive-ability, it's as though I'm driving a different truck! He had to fatten up the tune after I removed the third cat and got my exhaust replaced ( I was running lean). Imagine that! The 14" Magnaflow with the three inch exhaust sounds amazing and NO drone whatsoever. I'm averaging 17.5 miles per gallon (city) with DOD turned off and it keeps getting better. In time, I would like to possibly try HP tuners. I've tuned ever Harley that I've built a motor for to include my current 2011 Street glide with a 117 CI motor it's putting down a 127HP with 131 Ft #s of torque so I understand the process just wasn't sure if I wanted to dedicate the time. How's your tune process progressing? Mike
  21. Yeah, the poser exhaust was not imbossed. Again, shame on me for not looking. The new one is stamped with the magnaflow name and logo and is Stainless Steel.
  22. I did not take a picture of it before I took it back to the other muffler shop on Friday. Sorry....
  23. I've been working with Lew on a custom diablo tune, just thought I would share my experience. First off Lew (diablew, montess) has been great thru this entire process. My truck runs so much better and it feels like I have an entirely different tranny. As many of you are aware, I got fuct on a muffler install, but have since removed the third cat, installed a Magnaflow 14" muffler, all with three inch piping. IMO, she sounds fing awesome and with Lew's street tune, runs amazing! I still have some wide open throttle data sessions to record and I should be good to go. I was on the fence on what to do, hp tuners, blackbear, trifecta, diablew, etc... I'm pleased with who I picked. For those who are considering a tune, Lew comes with my highest recommendation. In time I'd like to give HP tuners software a try, I just wasn't ready to dedicate the time. Mike
  24. I'm not that far away from you, (Lawton) :-) I got this though, thanks. I agree it's not about the money more of the fact that the MF deceived me. Mike
