Being that GM doesn't think anything is wrong?? Back in the early 70's I had CB radios. You had to buy these little 2 pronged metal things with a crystal inside for the channel you wanted. Some times the crystals were cut wrong and were off frequency just a hair. Anyone on the right channel heard you talking, you just sounded like a static y auto tune voice. I know, no crystals now but you get the idea. Say you are showing 101.5 on the tuner, inside it might be 101.55 just enough to put it off.

I am told by an engineer that the calibration points might be slightly off. Thus not allowing the dual carrier bands to sync. The HD signal is slightly less powerful than the main signal and broadcast at the same time. Results could be an echo where hd is captured behind,or cut outs and static if it is slightly ahead. The way to fix it is to have the radios bench tested for proper calibration.

Oink oink I can not find this thread at that forum. Did any one say what kind of antennae they put on? Perhaps the black finish they put on our stock ones is a signal blocking finish. Maybe a trip to the bone yard is in order. Never mind I found it. No help, no part number or what kind.

I did that ,deleted all the presets turned off the HD and then all I got was a lot of static and the stations drifting in and out like they were a hundred miles away. Exactly like it sounded when the HD signal was lost. Now it sounds like that constantly., Going to leave this way so the dealer can hear it. And it says on my window sticker I paid for HD radio, so I think I am entitled to HD radio. The HD radio in my wife's car works flawlessly any where so it is not the area

I called the 800 # was on the phone about a half an hour, mostly on hold while guy from another land made notes and checked with people. My HD can't even hold sitting still. While driving it must flutter in and out about 30 times a song. I am quite tired of seeing the "acquiring HD signal "message" I have to keep it turned way down so I don't have to listen to the in and out and the static when it can't pull in a signal. I live 15 minutes north of Philly,4 major stations, and I cant listen to any of them without problems. Mostly use the IPOD, but I like to catch the news and traffic once in a while.

What have you done to your K2 today?
klrrdr replied to block8head's topic in Modifications & Accessories
I know, The back door I opened it just kept pouring out not a drip but a constant stream for about a minute. My wife opened the front door to look for some thing and it came out the whole time she was in the truck and then she had to wait to shut the door because it was still streaming out. -

Today I opened the passenger side doors and let about a quart of water between them drain out of the weep holes under the door. Thanks again GM -

I have walked by it grabbed my hair and screamed WHY,WHY,WHY, then got in a car I am not so disappointed with. -
Thanx,I tried that and as soon as I go back to the radio screen it is back in and out of HD,go back to the setting screen and the selection is back to HD switching on
-
Low battery warning in small screen on dash. Did not want to start a thread but is any one seeing this (saw) this
-
The question was asked but I saw no answer. How do you turn off the HD? Does it affect anything else, like an ipod or sound from CD?

I have a small FM radio that I keep in my pocket when out for walks or on the boat. It has no antennae and it has so much better reception than the radio in my $50K truck . As most, I feel totally ripped off. I can not even get clear reception of a major Philly station even though I am only 20 miles up river. Thanks for betraying my trust GM

At 0 with the truck off.Past that I don't want to talk about it

at least it is small and mostly un noticeable. the 14 subaru outback system looks like the thing at the bowling alley that projects the score on the ceiling in front of you,it's huge.

2014+ Truck Bed / Tonneau Covers
klrrdr replied to Green 1364's topic in Modifications & Accessories
A tonneau can help improve MPG Mythbusters Testing I always take Mythbusters episodes with a grain of salt. How many different model and configuration types did they test? What was the weight of the tonneau used.... Mythbusters episode reference:http://kwc.org/mythbusters/2006/12/episode_64_more_myths_revisite.html Their results actually got the same MPG with tailgate up compared to with tonneau cover. Now account for the weight of the tonneau cover being about 100 lbs and you actually had better aerodynamics but that was countered by the weight of the cover. Effect on MPG will also depend on the steadiness of your speed when adding weight - lots of stop and go acceleration will mean greater effect of added weight. Go with a lighter tonneau like lazerlite aluminum (48 lbs) or an ABS cover (60 lbs) and you will not have so much extra weight to haul around and should get better gas mileage. SAE Testing An example of a good SCIENTIFIC test was done by the Society of Automotive and Aerospace Engineers (SAE): http://ecow.engr.wisc.edu/cgi-bin/getbig/me/363/ghandhi1/pickup.pdf Their testing shows that other variables make a difference such as crosswind and bed length. For their testing of pre-2004 model F-150s they found: 1. In most cases a partial box cover (at the rear) or full tonneau gave the best aerodynamics. 2. For the 8' bed standard cab trucks the tailgate down but not removed gave better aerodynamics than with tailgate up. Tailgate off gave better or worse depending on how much crosswind compared to speed. Full tonneau gave the least drag in all conditions (best for MPG). Mesh gate gave the highest drag in all conditions (worst for MPG). 3. For the 6.5' bed super/crew cab trucks the tailgate up gave better aerodynamics than down or off (like Mythbuster results but opposite of 8' bed results). Tonneau covers gave the least drag in all conditions with a partial cover slightly better than a full cover (best for MPG). Tailgate off gave the highest drag (worst MPG). If you look at the flow models you can see that the difference in Cd occurs after the cab, so you could extrapolate that the bed length difference will be the decider in what method you should go with. The GMC and Toyota tested also support this conclusion with their 6.5' bed trucks having similar results to the Ford 6.5' beds. (Tailgate up is better than tailgate down) In all cases, a tonneau lowers drag...but you have to account for the weight of the tonneau possibly having a negative effect on MPG. Lesson: if you want improve aerodynamics and lower MPG with a tonneau, pick the lightest available. SEMA Testing Here is more scientific testing by SEMA showing that tonneaus improve aerodynamics: http://www.trucktestdigest.com/PDFfiles/SEMATonneauStudy2007.pdf Summary of some of their results: 1. Hard tonneaus did better than soft in general with 6.5% or better drag reduction (hard covers) compared to 5% drag reduction (soft covers) at highway speeds. 2. Reduced drag primarily occurs at above 40 mph and the benefit increases up to 65 mph where it levels off. 3. They also mention that the weight of heavy fiberglass covers can negate benefits. SnugTop manufacturer testing Yes, I am including a link to a manufacturer's tests. http://www.snugtop.com/gas_savings_test.php Their tests show an improvement of MPG with fiberglass tonneaus. Of note, they did their test with cruise control on which would help minimize the effect of additional weight of the cover. -
With what I'm getting, it should be called fuel footage
-
My new 5.3 is about 16.8 I was happy when I broke 17.1 on a 50 mile stretch of hiway with the cruise on.
-
So your "friend" got a full refund because all three of the new rear window assemblies also leaked? Well I guess we should add leaky windows to the list to watch out for.
-
The lemon laws only apply to safety related issues. I have gotten money back 2 times one for windows that kept short circuiting in the rain (can't get out in an emergency) and once for a gas tank that kept leaking fumes in to the passenger compartment. Don't think they will consider the radio an issue. These internet reps are like the close door button in an elevator, they don't really do anything they just give people the illusion something is going to happen

issue Popping noise from under the bed area?
klrrdr replied to Charlieo132's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
Sitting in stop and go traffic today, after driving about 60 miles. Every time I started to move and went a few car lengths and stopped there was the loud thunk. as mentioned before it sounded like a bowling ball hitting the tail gate then the front of the bed. put up with this crap for about 8 miles. Please post if you ever find out what this is,only 550 miles on AT SLT -
I had a signal booster in my truck back in the 70's. Unplugged wire from antenna plugged into box, plugged wire from box into radio, hooked up power wire to fuse box, never ever lost a signal on my supertuner. Was about the size of a pack of smokes. Seems like we have taken a giant leap backwards, welcome to the 20th century Marty McFly

My Mazda Miata had great radio reception, almost never lost a station and it only had a 6" rubber antenna on the rear deck. way to go GMC
-
Gotta love it a 51K truck and they cant put in a decent radio. I live 20 miles north of Philly and I can not listen to my three favorite stations. I will under no circumstances use XM even on the free trial . My wife got me an IPOD nano put about 600 songs on it. That will keep me busy for many an hour. A pox on the designer that designed this POS
