  1. Since 2014 it automatically comes back on at 56kph even when held down. On my 2014 and 2016 fuse #3 was the antilock brake pump. The stabilicrap is run through the antilock brakes so remove it and stabilicrap is disabled. I am curious about the new trucks as well as I hate this safety crap that is no good on ice ( long story about it putting me in the ditch in 2014)
  2. My 2014 did this. Turned out the valve used to put the refrigerant in the system leaked. New one installed with new refrigerant was about $300.00
  3. I don’t mean to sound sarcastic but I don’t understand what the problem is. Take your hitch out when not using it. I do so that it doesn't get stolen anyway. It is one quick release pin. Buy one that is taller so your trailer sits level. Or open your tailgate without putting the little part down too. A normal tailgate sits flat with the bumper and you are nowhere near that. Edit: sorry I see now that you mean the tailgate almost hits when the trailer is hooked up to the hitch. Airbags are your best bet in my opinion. Had them on my last two trucks.
  4. They used to be formed to deflect the bugs over the cab instead of hitting the windshield. Now i think they are mainly to protect the hood from rocks damaging the paint. The old ones used to also cause issues with the wipers not working well due to the aerodynamic change. I now just get the clear 3M coating on the hood and fenders( I used to by hood deflectors for all my trucks).
  5. I had this trouble on my 2014 with in channel visors. This is why I prefer the stick on ones. As long as they are installed well, I have never had an issue with them coming off.
  6. 0 offset is basically the same as 1mm offset ( only 1mm difference) lots of rims offer that offset and not actually a true zero just so you know.
  7. I have been thinking of trading my truck in for a new one. Reading about this issue ( and others like water leaks, etc.) worries me. I don't even like stabilicrap on my truck. Someone asked why wouldn’t you use it all the time. Well as a person that has had their emergency brakes freeze on ( literally freeze after moisture got in during the winter and I had the parking brakes set ) I never set them again when I parked in the winter. It is sad that GM has to have a computer set the brake automatically because people aren't smart enough to set it once in awhile even if they don't need to in order to keep it working. I have been doing this for as long as I can remember. maybe I should just keep my 2016 3/4 ton a few more years ?
  8. So I just got my truck back. At 134,000 km the nut backed off and my steering got loose. $400.00 to lock tight a bolt seems a little steep..... But steering is back to normal again. Hope it stays tight from now on.
  9. It could be the tires. I had issues with balancing not being good enough (still shook) and went to another shop. Got them road force balanced and they said one tire is so far out of spec that it can't be balanced properly basically it should be replaced. They told me this is common in all terrain or mud tires. They had to go through 12 bfg tires to find 4 that were within the spec (not my tires someone elses). My friend that sells tires told me this was common as well. Also my friend told me he has had some brand new wheels come with a manufacturers defect that had them "bent" from the factory and had to be replaced so that could be an issue as well. Have them check for out of round wheels.
  10. Not sure if what you are describing is the same as what I call "bump steer" where hitting a bump causes the front wheels to want to jump a little bit to the side ( don't know how else to describe it) more than they should. This for me was caused by an incorrect wheel alignment. Had a second one done at the actual dealership and this went away immediately. Perhaps that will help.
  11. Mice don't like bleach. You can pour a bleach mixture on the ground around your tires although rain will wash it away. But I live on a farm and acorns are usualy stored by squirrels not mice. My only fix for them (58 in the last two years) is a good pellet gun. Having a cat also helps with mice ?
  12. Pull fuse number three and be done with stabilicrap. No limp mode only you driving the truck without a computer trying to guess what it should do. Sorry but that computer doesnt know what to do on ice and cost me a trip into the ditch that I could have avoided ?
  13. Tell them to do a pressure test. But it sounds like it is a shitty dealership. I had a very small leak on my 2014 half ton. It always smelled when I walked around the front of the truck. Even the service manager said he could smell it. But twice they checked and "couldn't find a leak" I finally went to another dealership. They did a pressure test, found a leak in the rad and replaced it. Almost two years it leaked until i went to the second dealership.
  14. Yes I had to pay for mine as it was past warranty.
  15. Lots of the trucks in this thread are gas.
  16. Just a guess but I am guessing the batteries are all getting pushed back towards the cab so there is less of a chance of them gettmg smashed in a front end crash which would lead to leaking battery acid. Most new vehicles seem to have them back futher now from what I have noticed....
  17. Mine leaked after warranty was done. All that was replaced was the antenna. I had no staining or anything on the headliner so I was fine with it not being replaced. Maybe mine didn't leak as bad as yours though.....
  18. I don't know about GMC but on a 2016 LTZ chev, speed sensitive steering is standard. At least it as with the way my truck was built. Crew cab 4x4 with gas engine.
  19. It is on the gassers too. Same steering components in both.
  20. 18 inch tires are a little cheaper and extra sidewall rides nicer, although some argue it makes no difference.
  21. 275/70 R18's only change the speedo by 1.5 kph at 100kph. Not worth worrying about.
  22. Not sure what the issue could be. My manual switch still works too. I know they tied stabilitrac to the trailer brakes now too so I am guessing that is why I am getting the trailer brake message. Good luck. Too many computers driving the vehicles now!
  23. I pulled the abs fuse in my truck as I don't want stabilicrap and it can't be shut off anymore. I get a service stabilitrac and service trailer brakes message everytime I start my truck. But my trailer brakes work just fine.
  24. 275/70/r18. With 18x9 and 20mm offset. Any bigger or even if you have thick rubber mud flaps it will rub. That size is 33.2 inches x 11 To be absolutely sure you could stick with stock tire height of 32.6 inches. But go slightly wider. Bf goodrich has a tire in that size in their all terrain.
