  1. Can't believe folks are still discussing this as an issue. My dealership (#1 in the nation, Laura Buick GMC in Collinsville IL) brought someone in from the outside and did the repair on my 2015 Sierra, 1500. I have 30K on the truck now with no more seat issues. I believe he was an upholster, someone that deals with furniture.
  2. I have had this issue and the computer was reprogrammed to fix it. The problem has returned. The screen is blank and nothing is working. I restart the truck and it works again. A couple of times have required several restarts before its functional again. Currently at the dealership for oil change tire rotation and to replace the Rad and Therm for leaking Radiator issue. They are going to look at the radio issue again.
  3. Be sure and ask the Field Engineer what his expectations are regarding the test before it begins. Get that in writing if possible. If he believes the GM story line, the results will be predictable. And you will be wasting your time. Reference my Test with GM oversight from Feb2014. The report is posted there. (Posted 12 February 2014 - 04:12 PM) Good luck and I look forward to your posting of the outcome of your test.
  4. Sorry to see this remains an issue after I first posted it back in Dec 2013. Luckily I live in a fairly rural area, southern Illinois, so I can put up with the problem. I did go by a dead skunk the other day that wasn't very pleasant. I did trade my '14 for a '15, same issue, but I do love the truck. The '15 has the 6.2L with the camper mirrors......420 horse, whoa......maybe GM will fix this and correct the problem for all of us...until they do, enjoy the ride, cause there isn't another truck like it!!
  5. Interesting...Ford to the best of my knowledge still isn't using hose clamps on their seats. By the way, I had my dealer fix my seat last summer. They ordered the parts and then farmed the work out to an Upholster who removed the seat cover to perform the repair. The problem has not returned and its been over 7 months.
  6. I had the dealer order the parts and they have an outside upholster come in to do the repair. They told me that all work like that is farmed out. Its been 3 weeks and all is well. Maybe you need to have the right trade doing the work. Something that a wrench turner may not be that good at. And he didn't remove the seat to fix it, the guy removed the seat cover to do the repair. This was explained to me, now I wish I would have asked to watch him do it. Will keep an eye on it, but so-far-so-good!! I'm happy again!!
  7. I have given up for the time being....check out my 8 March post. There is a document attached that gives us options. The dealerships should have been aware of this document or maybe communications between the Service Manager and the techs is not the best. I have stopped doing GM surveys because I don';t know how to answer them....
  8. This related issue goes directly to the problem. Apparently at GM the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Even though we are all being told that the operation of the recirculation feature of the HVAC system is as designed, according to the attached document someone is unaware of the choice that the customer/owner has in this. As a customer and an owner it seems as though we do have a say on how the HVAC should work. Some in this forum have been able to get several facts out to us because of discussions they are having with their service departments or other research. What is unfortunate here in this case, we conducted a test to determine whether or not in the HVAC Recirculate mode that outside air was being introduced into the cabin of the truck. The outcome of the testing was predictable but GMs response was not. They clearly understood that the situation was not acceptable to the owner and yet they failed to meet expectations which they so clearly outlined in their response. Someone is not doing their homework. Now I have been told that the door when in the recirculation mode is closing all the way, others have been told that it is closing 90%. Both could be true and depending on what the issue is should drive the response. After reading the attached document #PIT5229A which is discussing Excessive Dust Intruding into the Cabin Interior - (Jan 15, 2014) we are left with a choice. I remain convinced that my dealership is telling me that the door is closing all of the way which for them is equal to 90%. This will be my next question to them. Unfortunately these fine folks are unable to think outside of the box. I don't believe they possess the skills necessary to properly satisfy the customer...if they did they would have ensured that the door on my Sierra was closing all the way (100%) and then set me on my merry way, another happy customer. Instead I suspect this testing charade was created without truly analyzing the problem. Someone got credit for opening a case and then closing it as resolved without satisfying the customer by correcting the problem when choices are clearly available. I suggest we all print the attached document off and present it to our dealerships and let them explain why they were unable to present these options to us. Then - just fix it so I don’t smell stuff in my truck anymore!!
  9. Keep us posted. And take note if there is a difference in the appearance of the headlight.
  10. That is correct. After I got it back there was no change. To be perfectly honest with you I have given up on these issues and try not to think about them anymore. The 'headlights' and 'recirculate' issues are not on GMs list of priority things to fix. I was talking to my autobody guy the other day and he believes the headlights are a bad bunch from the manufacture. Once they use all of them up and get to a different batch the problem may correct itself. I'll just wait and when the problem has gone away I'll just request another set of new headlights. Guess it could take a while, but time is on my side.
  11. After having mine replaced in December, no change.
  12. I am afraid the GM participants in this process have not experienced the issue first hand. If they had, responses like this might be a little more sensitive to the issue that is being discussed. I guess they just-don't-get-it. Just because "other trucks were also tested" and reacted the same has mine only proves the issue/problem. I suspected going into the test that they would discover that all the trucks were performing the same; why wouldn't they, it would be expected. What is disappointing here is the fact that their fall back is that "...vehicle is operating as designed." I guess we can all (GM and Owners) agree on one thing; the design(ed) is a poor one. If 100% closer of the cabin from the outside is a 'health hazard' it is suprising that some mitigation of the amount of air being introduced into the cabin could be reduce to also limit the offensive oders that are being caricaturized as 'fresh air' into the cabin of the truck. I suspect this will eventually be corrected some how in later models. Will this drive truck buyers away from the GM product; only time will tell. Sent 13 February 2014 - 12:35 PM Hi Steve, I am sorry to hear the resolution to your concern wasn’t the one you desired. I reached out to General Manager, Jack Anderson, at Laura Buick and followed up with him regarding your recirculation problem. Your vehicle is operating as designed. If you were to seal the vehicle completely off, it will become a safety hazard. There were other trucks that were also tested, which operated the same as yours. I apologize for any frustration this may have caused. If you ever have any other concerns, or need any assistance please let us know. Kristen A. GM Customer Care
  13. When i had the truck in for the 'fire recall' I had them check that the door was completely closing because that had been suggested in an earlier post. My dealership checked that and told me that the door was closing all the way. That lead to the registered complaint with GM and the testing that was performed today...No one has made a determination on the path that the outside air is taking if the door is completely closed...this remains a mystery. It would appear that there are additional breaches in the bulkhead somewhere if air is getting in and the door is closed. GMs just says its 'Normal'. Easy way out if you ask me. I have no idea what the next step is on this issue since the manufacture believes there isn't a problem. It would appear that we have encountered an impasse. Maybe we need more owners to flood their dealerships with the complaint and maybe that will let GM know that we are not satisfied with this response. Call and set up an appointment tommorrow. UNITE!!
  14. Post a couple of pictures....A picture says a 1000 words...
  15. The air is coming in from the outside at the bottom of the windshield below the wipers. There are vents there and when the smoke was introduced into that area it began to fill up the cabin with the smoke. Now I wasn't there to see it, this is what the Service Tech told me. And I don't believe they traced it to see exactly how it was getting into the cabin. They then called GM and was told this is 'Normal'....I guess we sure wasted a lot of time here with this since it is 'NORMAL'. I love my truck but this will take some getting use to since there doesn't seem to be any interest in fixing the 'Normal' problem. They must think we are all stupid or something, going to sleep.....i've been driving for over 40 years and that's never made me feel like going to sleep...if you wanted some fresh air you cracked the window a little bit. What a joke!
  16. Well the results are in and I couldn't believe what I was being told....I have attached the write-up so you can read it for your self....You may not want to have a truck like this if you live in areas that have tunnels. I was in Virginia for a while and they would have accidents that would close down the tunnels. I guess you would die of carbon monixide posioning sinse you can't keep the outside air out...Happy reading. I can't begin express how disappointed I am in the poor design of this expensive product.
  17. take2. I would like to answer your question but I not sure what you are asking. I went back and look at all of my posts but I don't see anything that I have said about 'monitoring' other than mentioning the GM Customer Service 'Monitor' in this Forum. Can you help me out here.... Steve
  18. Hopefullly we will be getting to the bottom of this issue. With the help of our GM Customer Service Monitor my truck is scheduled next wednesday (12 Sept 14) at 0900. Evidently GM will be involved in diagnosing the problem. I already told the service technician that called to set up the appointment that they will need to do some real world testing and not just let it set in the service bay. He mentioned something about a 'smoke' test....this should be interesting. I will let you know what the results are after I get back on Weds.... Get the popcorn ready!!!
  19. When I had my truck in for the 'Fire Recall' I asked them to check the functionality of the Recirculate and they said the door was functioning properly. Fine, then how is the outside air making its way into the cabin of the truck. They have no answers and I'm under the impression they may not care. It is obvious to me they don't understand how its suppose to work if they believe its working correctly. I am going to bring in the GM Customer Care folks in on this one since they have offered (21Dec13).
  20. After the headlights were replaced they still have the problem...my dealership says they are working on the issue. I have an appointment next week for the reprogram (fire issue) and will discuss further to see where we are at on the headlights.
