  1. I believe my issue has been resolved. Tomorrow will be one week that I have had the truck back after the dealer replaced the starter and, I think, a battery cable. It has started every time. It has been sub zero temp..no prob. Prior to this it was almost like clockwork. Leave the truck in the cold long enough and it wouldn't start. The dealer told me that GM was aware of this issue and suggested what parts to replace. Hopefully they have, via a TSB or other media, gotten the word out to their dealer network. I've seen so many people on here that take it to the dealer, and nothing gets done because the dealer can't replicate the problem.
  2. I picked up my truck last Friday from the dealer after dealing with the same problems. They told me that GM had told them to change the starter and (I'm guessing) at least one battery cable. It was my salesman that told me, and not being a mechanic he phrased it as "the starter and something else with high resistance". That it why I'm guessing that what he was referring to was a cable since somebody else in this forum had a battery cable with high resistance changed as a result of this very issue. It has been sub-zero overnight at least one if not two of the nights since I got the truck back, and the highest temp has been today at about 25. The truck has started every time. Prior to, every morning it wouldn't start. Almost every day after work it wouldn't start. I would try, wait, try, and it eventually would. I'm feeling pretty confident that they have fixed the problem. Add me to the list of guys that had the problem, got a new starter, and have been good since. The OP I believe is on that list as he hasn't come back indicated that his issue has come back. This talk about the flapper valve is absolutely, completely not related to the non-starting issue described in this thread. The flapper is a purely mechanical device that has absolutely nothing to do with allowing the starter to turn.
  3. Mine started the morning after I bought the truck with about 50 miles on it. ***maybe I should rephrase that*** Mine started ACTING UP the next morning after.
  4. Thanks..mine is at the dealer now waiting for a new starter. Last week it was a daily routine...wouldn't start in the morning. This is the 2nd time in the dealer, maybe I should "look" at mud flaps when I go pick it up :-) Sent from my XT1055 using Tapatalk
  5. Did you already have a new starter installed or had you been waiting for them to get one in stock? Sent from my XT1055 using Tapatalk
  6. Took mine in this morning. Told them about you all having new starters installed and indication of a bad batch. They lifted an eyebrow and said they know of a problem with the 13's having bad starters but not 14's. I have a loaner for now while they try to diagnose it. I will post here the results when I know more. Sent from my XT1055 using Tapatalk
  7. Gotta love it. Mine is going back in monday Sent from my XT1055 using Tapatalk
  8. This may be something that's been going on longer than we think. This review by autoblog.com back in July had the same problem. http://www.autoblog.com/2013/07/29/2014-gmc-sierra-review-video/
  9. Right on, what did dealer say when you took it in?
  10. Curious what the dealer had to say about yours. You mentioned the exhaust flapper but I believe that has to do with the truck not starting/running well when cold, but not related when the starter doesn't engage.
  11. Thanks for that, answers all our questions.
  12. That's from captKev, not SSimpson, the OP
  13. Read OP, nothing about temp there.
  14. SSimpson, is it cold where you are at?
  15. Did it crank when it wouldn't start?
