Shake or Vibration Issues
2strokesmoke replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
Ford produces 800 - 1000 so does Dodge, and Toyota a day and their trucks don't shake, last generation GM trucks did not shake like these do! I am not about to be force fed this bull**** we all paid good hard earned money for these trucks. Some of us rely on these trucks for or income and spend a lot of time in them too! So we are entitled to a response from GM, or acknowledgement that they are aware these trucks have issues and that they have not forgotten what their customers are dealing with! I have found GM refused to do anything for me, until I got legal advise and help addressing my troubled shaking, shuddering, clunking, bad reception, moving seat, rusting frame truck. How could they claim so many miles testing without knowledge of these problems? -
Local radio stations give road conditions weather conditions and local events! I think this is still important to many of us. I live northern area severe weather knowledge is a must from local radio. Just saying.

I would guess that means driveshaft replacement and complete sealed rear end axle. -

Do you have an update yet, how or what they did to fix your trucks vibrations.I am also just like you same problem waiting for a fix! -
Mysterious Dents & Crinkles Along Bed Fender

Only the hood is aluminum, and I believe it is a stamping issue the rippling/dents, or excessive heat during side box panel weld up. Not normal this is a defect! Unless it is proven the truck can not support the towing numbers you are pulling I would believe damage would be noticeable on both sides. -

The question here would be whats your build date? Pictures of the area in question so the rest of us can inspect our trucks . -
I have had my radio unit, behind the display screen replaced and I can honestly say this is not a fix! I live outside the city limits with little to no interference, and radio station is around 18mile away and that has issues keeping a proper signal on fm bandwidth. This is disturbing to think that a company as big as GM can't or won't fix this issue for their customers. Push for legal actions to get it sorted, or do nothing as it will not get any better everytime you turn it on to listen to it.....!

Don't except that!I have the same issue 40-55mph shake/vibration took the lies from dealer for so long then was told to live with it. I took legal action, now they say it is the rear axle assembly after the tires, after the driveshaft...ect. They are running out of things to blame or swap out. I am seeking full refund if they fail to correct this shake and shudder from driveline. Take action now and document everything, good luck! -
Here is something to consider, Honda had an exact issue bad reception dropping signal. Feedback was swift from customers and Honda acted swifter. A fix/change was completed within 3 months minimizing customers effected. Also any customers that complain to dealers are then scheduled for the repair to be preformed. What did GM do about this...... What is GM going to do about this......nothing !

Thxs for the update, and the fix for your clunking. When you say your leaf springs were moving side to side do you mean they were loose at the ubolts to rear axle area, or were they loose at the leaf spring eye to body bracket to bolt area. Loose leaf spring to rear axle ubolts will cause clunking when axle wrap occours. It is a common practic to recheck retorque the axle ubolts after 500 miles or so. All trucks have some form of axle wrap, but axle movement from leaf springs means ubolts are loose allowing the axle to rotate forward pushing the driveshaft forward into the transmission yoke this has been an ongoing issue for GM in the past. On sure way to check this is where leaf bolts to axle there will be a shinny metal wear area on axle near fastening bracket. This is noticeable if you look around that axle area. Glad your truck is fixed now. -

Ok a lot of information to swallow, GM sold you a vehicle with a warranty, it is the Manufactures responsibility to up hold their warranty for the term/mileage advertised. Yes dealers are dealers and not owners of GM, but they are agents for GM's products. Now if a dealer refuses to work on your vehicle it is not a breach in the warranty agreement as they have no binding requirement to meet. Now if GM is notified by means of a registered letter that your truck has a defect and dealer refuses to diagnose or have it fixed, it is now an issue of warranty refusal and GM is now obligated to arrange to get it diagnosed and attempted to be repaired by law! This is when a Solicitor or lemon law can be a help "refusal of warranty" GM will now get the dealer to act. Here is the real problem dealers do not get paid to diagnose problems, but paid when there is a tsb or know fix! So if many hours are spent getting things figured out, and the repair is 15min they will only get paid for 15min + wages. This is why the dealers always say go back to the selling dealer. Yes this is a catch 22 situation, however a legal request by letter for GM to comply to warranty obligations is a legal binding notice, also grounds for buy back if they still refuse to meet advertised car warranty obligations. -

Take legal action, start a log book of your events. -
I was told they replaced the radio unit, no metion about a software update. My work order is incomplete awaiting rear end replacement, will update folks later when I learn more.
-
I was told my radio unit was replaced, I have not seen my work order yet as it is still outstanding to confirm this, but after a 300 mile trip I did not notice any improvement in reception. My build date is jan 2014 No fix coming in my opinion!

This is nuts! So your truck got damaged during your 1st service appointment and you are going to pay for the repair. If dealer denies the damage, I would ask if they could split the dealer cost for the part if I was not 100% certain that it happened there! As for the tires, open a claim with GM about the vibration that has come back since new, and it is oem tire related and dealer has a fix but wont cover it. Also ask the dealer for the rep they spoke with, who denied this warranty repair. -

Recent events I was coming off the highway to off ramp, slight upward grade and traffic light was green slowed down and turned left to slight upward grade. As I started to accelerate and turn left my truck begin to shudder and felt like the transmission slipped and the rear axle begin to bind up some what. My transmission fluid was reading 195f by the trucks readings. I do not have any vibration at or above 70mph rides like glass. I am working with GM right now to have my truck sorted out, unfortunately it has taken legal action to get them to do anything or take my complaints serious. Tires have been replaced, balanced, driveshaft replaced, rear end is next to be replaced, radio replaced, seat assembly, rust issue on frame. So yes I have been patient, and still no fix and vibration getting worse. Transmission shudders from 1-2 shift and worse when warm and up hill grade. -

Possible your pump bolts are loose, so pressure loss is constant regardless of temp...Leaking pump gasket only needs to be a tiny bit to be a problem under high pressure, and hot tranny oil. This is my humble opinion for those that have ruled out driveshaft, and tires and have shuddering at 1-2 launch and shuddering at 65-75mph worth investigating my theory! -
Shake or Vibration Issues
2strokesmoke replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
Ok I will start here, I have been saying all along that this vibration issue is a transmission issue! Now for the meat and potatoes facts. Facts 1: vehicle vibrates worse when temperature increase. 2: Some times vibration is better when change in temperature 3: Driveshaft, and tires may be bad on some but didn't fix the worst vibrations issues. 4: Some folks have 1-2-3-4 shift issue shuddering. 5: Vehicle's transmission is designed to only get a complete lock up from 5th gear and 6th. 6: 1-2-3-4 shifts are triggered by tranny pump pushing solenoids and speed sensors. 7: Some folks complain about vehicle feeling like it is in neutral when 1-2 shift delay and then a bump shudder shift. 8: Down shifts are delayed, and feel very hard and sometimes jolt, thunk, thump while down shifting. 9: While coasting, "example merging or in a turn lane" then accelerating transmission has a delay and clunks while catching up to the engine torque. 10: Vibration at 40-55mph. 4th gear shift to 5th gear shift. 11: Vibration at 65-75mph 6th gear tranny full lock up. (like typical overdrive 1 engine to 1:1 or 1:2 tranny rotations) 12: TSB or PIP5175B Shudder During launch in 1-2-3-4 Delayed engagement into drive 13: Vibration is across all models that have this transmission 6L80 MYC Auto 6speed Built in Silao Mexico 14: Models Sierra, Silverado, Yukon, Cadillac Escalade ect... 15: 1 member fixed his trucks vibrations and his 1-2-3-4 shift issues with a new transmission pump seal and loose bolts retightened. As a mechanic my humble opinion is that the transmission pump seal is leaking in these trucks that have these symptoms. It is a known facts that these hydraulic pumps in the transmission have had bad gasket seals, and bolts have been found to be finger tight during repair inspection. I am saying that when this trucks transmission gets warmed up it begins to leak around the pump seal, causing a loss of oil pressure, causing shudder and vibration. At a lower speed (lower pressure) it would delay shift then cause a bump into next gear. At a higher gear it would cause the transmission pump to operate with less pressure creating a shudder felt as a vibration at higher speed. Now if this gasket is leaking at the pump, it would make sense that cooler temps and cooler tranny oil would be thicker, better drive less vibration until above 150f Then as it starts to heat up it thins out causing leaking and pressure loss resulting in vibration. Now for those that have the 1-2 shift delay after starting up and going! (without a warm up) the hot thin oil has already leaked back down to the tranny pan while it sat since the last drive! Low transmission pump pressure causes shuddering, and vibration and I feel this is what is going on with this transmission. it happened with earlier builds and now it is back, it is a quality issue maybe pump is being under torqued bolts loose, or over torqued causing gasket to squeeze out and pump now leaks. I stand behind this theory, and that this is a transmission pump pressure loss issue that is causing our vibrations, and shuddering, and other shift down shift issues as well! Please chime in if anyone sees or knows more about this hydraulic stuff. thxs -

Are you for real!My truck doesn't vibrate, it shakes! And the rear end feels like it is falling apart with 1-2-3-4 shift issues. This truck was bought new, not used, not broken. So what r you saying man! By the way I am a mechanic, and I repair defects from factories all the time, but if this truck was tested for quality and passed there is big issues going on with GM's Mexican truck plant! -

This is crazy and illegal! Everyone who has a problem with there new vehical and Manufacture refuses to fix such a serious issue as a vehical shaking wheels, should contact NHTSA, BBB, and there lawyer! I have tried working with GM and Dealer, and it resulted in nothing getting repaired or fixed. A vehical that preforms mechanicaly different from others is not "Preforming as designed". In fact that is a failure to provide warranty for your new vehical, or replace it with one that is not defective or broken. If this is a transmission issue, IMHO, or whatever else GM is aware of. GM needs to correct it and get our trucks fixed now! I have started legal action, I have no patience left for lies and denials. Reporting our defective Driveline issues to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association and BBB is our only way we will learn what is plaguing our trucks outside seeking a lawyer! Good luck to you all that are waiting on GM to fit your trucks. -

This is not the consumers fault, in this day of age, one would expect that good quality control along with good machining would be the normal expectation. This is GM's fault and their willingness to help or be an assistance in fixing this and many other quality or design flaws is sickening to say the least! As for others saying smart remarks, please stop no one here asked for this problem, and no one willingly bought a broken truck. -

Gm is replacing rear end, they did not say they were replacing the ring and pinion only! This means full unit! Problem might be in the axles or bearings as well. What if an axle was not true, spining with a wobble, this could cause heat and vibrations. just saying -

My problem is between 40-55. Vibration and feels like a rough ride. Been in shop three times now. Balanced, road forced balanced and took tires/wheels off new truck on the lot and still problem exist. Service manager said he doesn't know what's causing it and that they will have to look at it some more. If this is rear end or drive shaft, I'm afraid I will continue to have problems even if they somewhat fix it. Brand new freakin truck that is having problems like this. I am thinking of requesting them to give me another truck, would you do that due to my problem I'm having? My truck was exactly like yours with shudder vibration around 40mph - 55mph insisted they check the drriveshaft, they replaced it out of balance! This took most of the vibration out, but some vibration remained and a 1-2 shift bump shudder could be felt now being more consistent. New rear end has been order, I will let you know when it is installed. Part on back order, 2-3 weeks away they must be replacing alot of these im my humble opinion. -

Low speed issues, 40mph to 55mph would be driveshaft and rear end issues. High speed issues 65mph to 75mph would be driveshaft slightly out of balance and crappy tires in my opinion. These trucks have issues with rear end launch shuddering 1-2-3 if your truck bumps into 2nd gear have your rear end ring and pinion checked.
