  1. There was a TSB with something to this effect on the 1500's but not sure about the HD's. Sounds like the same problem, though. It was a switch/sensor issue and not an actual mechanical problem.
  2. This is my 3rd 6.0 truck and it is the best version yet. I had one of the first 08's with the new body and 6-speed and it's what got me out of my Cummins at the time. I was going to go Duramax but the salesman, who was also a friend, talked me into driving the the new version. The extra gears with a 4.10 option made the truck feel much more competent. It saved me a pile of money and that truck went 60K miles in less a year with nothing other than scheduled service. It's mileage was horrific but I never had to give that truck a second thought or worry.
  3. A 6.0 HD is as close to maintenance free as it gets with bulletproof reliability built in. Power-wise, I'd take a Dmax any day but the way I use my truck (excessive idling, starting, stopping, cold weather) it's just a no brainer for me. If I had to tow 10K plus constantly of course I'd buy a Dmax but this old 6.0 will pull 10K just fine. If you're buying a gas HD to pull you have to accept that it's not going to accelerate past traffic or up hills but it'll hold speed all day long.
  4. Especially with the awful transmission gearing the quasi-5 speed auto Dodge used in the 4.7 and 5.7 motors of that era. I don't buy it either but to each their own, I guess.
  5. Us old guys and technology don't mix. I did catch a rock the first few days after the muddy gravel. The forward/reverse trick didn't work after several tries so I just drove back on the highway as normal (the faster I went the less I heard the grinding lol) but at some point it shot that little stone out. Maybe that has something to do with it? I don't know.
  6. Mine developed a brake squeal a week after I bought it. I'm not worried about it, just annoying to hear it. It seems intermittent whether warm or cold. I assumed it was because of the muddy/gravel and then dry mix I frequently drive on. Some of my trucks have squealed and some haven't. Just interesting to see this thread here. The brakes themselves are performing as good as can be but I think I'll let the dealer know next service just because.
  7. My 6.2 Denali finally arrived and I took it for a boot this afternoon. Happy to say it's smooth as silk at any speed. I can see how the factory tune for the 6.2/8-speed limits the trucks potential but once it lets it run with the power it's plain silly for a fullsize truck. That subdued Corvette growl is a nice bonus. I know a lot of the vibration issues happen after some mileage and I hope mine stays like it was today. I'll definitely post if I have issues, though.
  8. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive at the dealer and when it does I'll be taking it for a long test drive. The only thing that concerns me is that it's not a necessarily an issue right out of the box and can crop up over time. As much as I'm looking forward to this truck it's made me consider not taking the it at all. The HD's and Yukon/Tahoe/Escalade have well documented issues with this shakes and vibrations, too. The resolution rate doesn't seem high for the units with these issues and there seems to be more one thing that has solved the issues on the effected units and usually after a lot of headaches and downtime. Mine is among the last batch of 2015's before they switch production to the 2016's. The fact that this problem is no longer just an early 2014 issue and is now being well documented in the 2015's does not give me much confidence. I'm not looking forward to making this decision but I'll have to. I put a lot miles on quickly and the last thing I need is for this truck 1. being an unenjoyable nightmare to drive and 2. spending endless time in the shop. This site has been amazing in passing on these issues and info. I definitely appreciate it.
