I definitely don't think masks make other safe practices null and void. Masks are believed to be most useful in protecting others. Their masks protect you. Social distancing is what I believe to be the most effective defense. You and I have a responsibility just like everyone else. "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem" is my mantra! There are still too many who think this virus will take care of itself and it is only a problem when it takes a loved one. The amount of effort some individuals exert to justify not participating in basic protocols far exceed the effort required to comply with common sense ways to keep the spread under control.

Never fails! Five minutes after I buy new, I inevitably see a twin vehicle. I remember finding 4 trucks the same colour and similar models to mine in my row of parking at a crowded mall. My wife would have needed to try a key or look inside for personal items to be able to confirm which one was ours! With respect to your bumper, I recommend taking a serious look at the Black Widow custom front bumper. I believe it would enhance the value and look of your truck. Your stock bumper should be a quick sell.

I got my first "professional" haircut yesterday since last February. I actually prefer long hair but it's not a good look when the top of your head refuses to participate in the hair growing process. The place I went to had all of their signage and practices in place. Customers and staff were all behaving in a new normal with zero complaints or inconvenience. I have gone several weeks now when I've felt uncomfortable in a store or in public. The majority of people, imo, are on board or at least playing along! Thank you for doing your part!

The advantages of staying home in your own state or province is it limits spread, makes for easier monitoring and keeps your money local. I don't consider myself a sissie and I choose to make decisions that support my provincial efforts. Containment and contact tracing are terms that make a lot of sense when dealing with this virus. Both are made less effective when we travel out of state/province. I remember back in January when news specials were illustrating how global plane travel effectively spreads a virus like this all around the world. In a short time we were all fighting a pandemic that air travel distributed. We now have a pretty good handle on the air travel spread and can reduce the numbers of infected people arriving and departing at airports. Travelling through out our vast countries will spread the virus within our countries' borders. Currently states and provinces have a range in numbers of infections. Travel will only serve to bring those with low numbers up. It would be great if it worked the opposite way!

I certainly wouldn't judge a truck by its tires. Ford and Dodge make a good HD Diesel truck but neither are as as nice as a GM, imo. I have replaced factory tires on my new trucks shortly after purchase since 2001. Tires from the factory are usually adequate but I find premium tires bring out the best in a new truck!

One other thing that I should add is wind resistance can really rob your fuel economy at highway speeds. A travel trailer is traditionally shaped like a brick. My neighbor's grandson designed his camper with aerodynamics in mind.

Lol? There is nothing funny here. As an outsider, but still impacted, I find the conflicts very sad. Too bad this virus continues to be a political football on this thread. The coronavirus has no political affiliation and there are so many apolitical strategies to combat the spread. Simple stuff like social distancing and masks should be aggressively promoted with a united front. An upcoming election will only serve to enhance the mud slinging. However, as individuals we each have influence. Promote the basics.

No useful value in casting blame but we need to do a better job of convincing others how to enjoy the summer in a safe manner, respectful of others. Safe behaviors requires minimal effort for the reward.

I get it, but you know this level of care will soon pass! It was a blessing in disguise when I had my first paint accident on my pristine garage floor. Six years now of treating it like a garage floor and it still looks decent!

I saw a small group of local protesters on TV demonstrating against masks and now I see the US president finally dawning a mask in photos. Making something so basic such a big political football is mind boggling. There are a variety of motivations for wearing a mask. When I started a few months ago, I was a little skeptical but my main motivation was to do my part. It was logical to me that a physical barrier would help reduce the spread of germs. (I know that like other barrier forms of protection, they are not 100% ?) Our region's numbers are comparatively low but along with relaxing restrictions have come rising numbers. My thoughts today are on what I can do more as an individual. I admit, I've become a little more "social" lately. First of all, I'm going to Costco and buy a box of their disposable masks. I'm going to give a sample to a couple of my friends who find masks a nuisance. (Steam up glasses, bother ears etc.) I find not all masks are created equal but the ones I buy at Costco are the best for comfort and price. I am also going to carry an extra mask to offer someone I know who I may encounter in my travels. I may also employ a strategy that I use when walking my dog. When the opportunity presents itself, I politely offer them a bag "in case they don't have one". I've never been refused. Protests and arguing online are tools open to everyone but don't preclude the need for us to step up as individuals. (Tip: Buy/wear t-shirts with pocket. Very handy for mask.) I am interested if you have other simple strategies to help being part of the solution.

Do you believe that "not swinging the gates wide open" should or shouldn't apply to schools? A fully open school places a large number of people of a wide range of ages in exceptionally close proximity. Last June, my province introduced a hybrid model which attempts to address the issues similar to what you and I mentioned in earlier discussion. If your schools are being told to fully open, this is political and contradicts scientific recommendations for reducing spread. I'm sure I heard your President use language like "fully open" but please correct me if this is not the case. (I do hear there is lots of discussion at the various state levels and I'm sure safety will be the top priority.) Schools (urban or rural) can open safely but not if they are expected to be functioning at pre-pandemic levels.

I worked in the public school system for 35 years and it is a huge mistake to fully open schools as normal during the pandemic. There are hybrid models that can address the needs of inadequate child care or those dependent on meal programs. We need to address the needs of our vulnerable. However, there is a large number of students who are able to do well in an in-home/online model of education. Deviating from traditional delivery models translates to a lot more work for teachers and they need to be commended for their efforts to push for the safety of their students. Like any profession, you will find individuals who don't belong. I've dealt with a few in my career but never wavered in my high regard for teachers.

I understand your environment and reference points to be considerably different than mine. I doubt I could find anyone in my peer group who considers masks to be the "silver bullet". However, I don't know anyone who doesn't wear a mask when social distancing is a problem. Yesterday I read we have two reported active cases in our region. Even with these low numbers, I can spend an hour in Walmart and then cross the street and spend another hour in Costco and never be within 6 feet of an unmasked person. If I get careless, chances are in my favour that the other person will get out of my path. Community spread can be traced to the cause or event when dealing with low numbers. The effectiveness of people following social distancing, hygiene and mask protocols is hard to recognize when large numbers of people don't embrace these practices. We have enjoyed pretty consistent messaging along with support from our health officers and politicians from very early in the pandemic. It may not be perfect but I assure you that the basics do make a difference and you as an individual make a difference.

I'm not sure on what you're basing your information but my belief is that we'd be in a far worse position if nothing we have done has worked. Doing something has a far better chance of working than doing nothing.

I appreciate your unwavering support for your president. I understand that it is hurtful to believe numbers may be skewed to tarnish his reputation. For this reason, your skepticism is warranted. However, it is a mistake to use such beliefs to minimize respect for the virus. No matter if and how exaggerated the number is, the actual is still too high. The statement, "Masks don’t work, now they do" was used in a speech to discredit medical professionals. The fact that masks went from being widely discounted to a requirement in a few months demonstrate medical professionals working to deal with this pandemic. Masks have given the public a much needed and tangible tool to help combat the spread.

Non-essential travel between US and Canada is not permitted at all land crossings. I believe this is not enforced at airports so there is a way but I wouldn't consider it a choice. All passengers flying into Canada are required to quarantine for 14 days.

The fact that many choose to ignore or circumvent such directions makes control of this pandemic exceptionally difficult. If leaders start talking enforcement, many become outraged. I'm sorry about you not being able to see your Dad but thank you for being part of the solution. We haven't been able to see our grandchildren in Texas since the end of January which is gut wrenching. We know of how to get around the land border restriction but my entire family are committed to doing our part. The mantra, "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem," applies here!

Yes, it is tough to get a balance. It may be unacceptable to shut down but it is also wrong to minimize the potential impact of this virus. Going outside without sunscreen or a jacket may lead to skin cancer or frostbite but the malady belongs to you. Ignoring safe practices in dealing with the virus can harm or kill others. Words like "uptick" by politicians are used to minimize the seriousness of increasing numbers. The biggest problem facing us is others choosing to not accept this pandemic with a proper level of seriousness. Let's own the problem and fix it!

Maybe if the impact of this virus was limited to your country, your concerns about the severity could be based on your political party. There are enough points of reference outside of your borders that show you should take this virus seriously. Figures out of context can be presented and interpreted different ways. For example, you use a 99% survival rate as a good thing. However, others can conclude this suggests 1 out of every 100 not surviving. Personally, I would be very concerned if this was the case and make sure I was taking every available precaution!

You could be right or wrong. I'm not sure if the numbers are shown to be higher or lower but they shouldn't impact how you protect yourself. The numbers could be significantly wrong and you could live several states away but you should still take the same precautions. I live on a large island with less than a million people. The number of active cases in my area are minimal or non-existent. We are told of the number of reported active cases on the island on a regular basis but not the precise location. Patrons in our Costco behave as if we were a city with high numbers. Treat everyone you don't live with as a potential source of the virus. Covid 19 does not have a political affiliation. It doesn't do a great job of respecting borders either. License plates (tags) don't travel by themselves. I've noticed!

I remember when I was first looking a couple of years ago, experienced forum members suggested that I rent before I buy. I ignored their good advice which I regret. There is a lot of extras you may purchase that you don't need and there are a lot of unpredicted needs you will discover with some experience. Many RV places will make deals if you rent and then decide to purchase one of their units. RVing is potentially exciting and a lot of fun but it is a significant commitment. Take your time.

Welcome to this forum! I suggest taking your truck to an upholstery shop and have it repaired like dplarson. Once this is done, practice and get in the habit of not sliding on the edge of your seat when entering and exiting. If you don't have step bars then get some to ease getting in and out. I wore the edge of the driver's seat out in my last truck and made the conscious decision not to do it on my current truck. I've had this truck since Nov. '15 (leather) and the seats are like new. I'm heavier than you and in and out of my truck several times per day.
