I'd get quotes from a few body shops prior to making this a DIY experience. I also wonder if your current bumper is repairable. If it is damaged beyond repair then is there any damage to the mounting hardware? Often (not always) a high quote for a repair is an indicator that there may be a higher level of complexity to a job.

Which in all likelihood was the cause and they would be right! I'd be honest, while only saying what needs to be said. "The finish is peeling off the left vent housing." If asked what cleaners you've used, tell them. My service manager would likely instruct me on proper cleaning methods but still replace the "defective" part. I have found that, most often, honesty in such matters makes you feel good and has better results. Lies or BS are usually reciprocated. BTW I seldom use anything more than a slightly damp cloth to clean my dash. I will, on occasion, add a little mild dish soap. I frequently wipe my steering wheel especially if I've been overdoing the hand sanitizer!

I have had very poor luck with door ding protectors over the years. The chances of meeting up with a door that lines up with your trim is not as common as we'd expect. I know it is not always possible, but I exercise "defensive parking." If the people on either side of me won't be able to open their doors freely, I find another spot. This seems like common sense but I am amazed by the number of truck owners who appear to pride themselves in squeezing into a small car parking stall. There are people (and I know one) who will not hesitate to open their car door until it rests securely on the vehicle next to them. ?

One advantage to being old is that we remember what purchasing a truck void of frills truly looks like! Many of the items that appear on the standard items list of a 2020 basic work truck were expensive options when we started buying 1/2 tons! Your knees were your cup holders and an extra pedal often made this a challenge. A common gripe that annoys me are complaints related to transmissions searching for gears or not shifting when expected. (I am not referring to faulty transmissions.) I wish such posters were provided the option of a manual transmission. There are now truck enthusiasts in their 40's who have never experienced a 1/2 ton that they had to truly tell what to do and when. I do like the current standard comforts such as power steering, brakes, windows and AC but I miss the driving satisfaction derived from a manual transmission!

Welcome to this forum! Sorry about your mishap with your new truck. If you don't want to go through insurance then get quotes from at least three collision repair companies. Explain that it is not an insurance repair and that you need to keep the price down. You may find a privately run shop that needs small jobs to fill in the gaps between other projects. Get it done and move on. The time and effort you will spend searching to save a few dollars with a DIY install will not be as rewarding as other projects on your list!

Ditto. I could have written the same post. ^^^ We had a former Prime Minister (John Turner) pass away yesterday. There was a lot of film footage on the news of the '80's when he held his brief term in office. My wife and I were reminded of the many serious local, global and personal struggles of the day. However, fond memories were also conjured up and quickly monopolized our conversation. The same dynamic will put Covid19 in its place in history.

History has a nice way of dealing with this phenomenon. In the 60's my father bragged about his 40's cars. In the 80's my kids were told many stories about my 60's trucks etc. etc. I really liked my '00 Silverado and drove it for 9 years. In 20 years we'll be looking back fondly at our simple, gas burning, solidly built K2XX's! I am choosing to enjoy my '15 for as long as I can because I know I will start to miss it the day after I sell!

I agree and I hope you didn't read anything negative in my suggestion. I would not hesitate to ask my dealer to meet me half way (Op's first post request) if I had a comparable issue. I would not be shocked if they said yes. The crux of my comment was centered around using the expired warranty as justification for asking to meet halfway. This makes a "no" response too easy. I make a point of having any concerns documented on a work order whenever I have my truck in for service. If the clunk I heard periodically during warranty morphs into a problem post warranty, my dealer has my concern on file. Op says he had reported related concerns prior to the expiration of his warranty and I am confident this is where he will find the basis for any reduction in repair costs.

If you're basing your reason for wanting compensation on the idea that 72k is close to 65k then you give them a clean reason to deny your request for a reduced price. A manufacturer can't deny an eligible warranty claim a mile before it expires but they are not obligated to honor a claim a mile after it expires. Appeal to their goodwill and make the connection to the potential misdiagnosis of a poor tire prior to your warranty expiry. Ask them to meet you half way on the price. They will say either yes, no or make a counter offer.

This made my morning! We've strived to make our yard easy care and struggle to get away from gardening! My increasing mobility issues favor me being vertical or horizontal but not a lot of movement in between. A nice looking, obstacle free lawn has been my goal. I removed a large garden area last spring along our back fence and replaced beautiful Hostas et al with a row of emerald cedars. I spend more time nurturing these trees than I ever did with the previous array of plants! We also wanted freedom to be able to leave our house for a few days and not worry about the gardens. My wife has managed to keep tomato, blueberry, and assorted flowering plants in pots on our porch. Thank goodness that we can't go anywhere because her portable garden requires constant care! I must say that Covid19 has driven everyone in my cul-de-sac out into the yards and there is increased pressure to "keep-up". It also forms a stronger comradery with neighbors. There is almost always someone in earshot wanting to comment on the weather! (I get the weather, my wife gets the good stuff) We strive for privacy but there is also a real sense of safety when you are surrounded by people who are not strangers.

Great responses so far! Ask your service manager! I've had good luck in such situations, however. your just out of warranty argument is quite weak. I would be more inclined to appeal to them on more compassionate grounds. They may give you a good deal to keep you as a loyal customer or to attract you as a future customer.

You have plenty of warranty remaining. I know they may not be able to replicate the clunk upon first inspection but they will have your concern on record. Be persistent. Personally, I'd avoid DIY repairs on such a new vehicle and enjoy the advantages of having a bumper to bumper / powertrain warranty.

Extraordinary political and/or conspiracy beliefs regarding covid19 continue to surface on this thread. If the pandemic was restricted to one country then such comments would seem a little less bizarre.

Cargo trailer conversions has become a YouTube favorite for me since these posts. It is interesting to see what people will build. One common theme I see is people want the bed to be as comfortable as they have at home. The surprising thing for me is the general low priority given to bathrooms. Some will sacrifice a lot of space for a residential king sized bed but keep a lined bucket in a cupboard for their bathroom! Building a tiny home or cargo trailer conversion intrigues me as a fun build project but a well kept used travel trailer would be a far better choice and financial decision, imo!

I also don't personally know anyone who has received a positive test nor do I know anyone who doesn't follow Covid19 protocols. I do know individuals who are fearing doom and gloom but they can't just blame the coronavirus! ? Many like me are experiencing extra time and unspent money/credit as a result of this pandemic. This prompted me to start this thread. The biggest depressor for me is restricted travel to our grandchildren (and their parents). However, this has forced us to be more diligent with continuous online communication and frequent phone conversations. It is actually compelling us to communicate with much more focused and in-depth content. The wonderful thing about the www is that we can look outside our immediate surroundings for a broader perspective on this pandemic. I believe there is possibly a critical mass of people like me who are living a quality of life equal to (albeit different) their pre-pandemic lives. There is a small group who have actually improved their quality of life during this pandemic. I wish the whole thing would disappear but wishing, blaming, rebelling or ignoring won't make it go away.

Beautiful truck! I suspect this damage was done during transport but you'll never know the cause. Simply take your truck back to the dealership and I'm confident they'll make the damage disappear. Don't overthink this hiccup.

Welcome to this forum. Follow steve841's suggestion. If it's too large for them, then go through insurance and a reputable body shop. Also, I'm sure you provided the personal information for a reason. If after 4 months of dating, you're certain this is a lifelong match, then you should have no trouble delaying marriage until at least Feb. 2022. In time, you will amaze yourself with how much more there is to learn about someone once the new car smell is gone. ?

I have a friend who moves his 5th wheel every spring and fall for the past several years. They live in the trailer full time and have a favorite summer and winter location. He pays to have his trailer moved. He and his wife prefer to drive nice cars and/or 1/2 tons and don't want to be tied down with a 1 ton truck for the other 363 days of the year. Personally, I'd love to have a 1 ton diesel dually as my daily driver to haul my Pomeranian X to the dog park but not everyone does!

I stumbled across a YouTube theme of cargo trailer conversions and thought of this ^^^ comment. Individuals are buying common 6'x10' single axle cargo trailers (or larger) and making them into their home away from home. You could make a discrete (stealth) private oasis and have a "rest stop" anywhere parking is permitted!

Your truck came with some rake so that your headlights will not point to the moon when you are carrying a load. My truck looked level when I was towing a travel trailer. Your truck has a posted load capacity and I doubt you will experience a California lean with a properly loaded truck. As mentioned before, stay within specs and use a properly setup WDH.

You will have ample pulling power. I've pulled similar weights with my V6. However, I am sure you can find a trailer that is 5' or so shorter that will be a much more comfortable tow. When we are first time buyers our reference points are our home or apartment. We tend to want features and comforts that replicate our main accommodations. Living in a trailer is different and your needs change accordingly. Towing around extra space to unroll his and her yoga mats while watching prime on a 65" Samsung by the light of an electric fireplace will make for more stressful driving and single digit mpg's. Rent or borrow for a couple of weekends prior to purchase. Chances are you'll love the experience and learn that your needs are more basic than you may think. Start with beds and a bathroom and the rest is gravy!
