I just put these on the rear recently and put boots down. Besides the label being the right way someone made a good point in saying that the rod can take a beating but if the cylinder gets punctured the shock is toast so put the cylinder higher up out of the way more. Also a lot of people have talked to Bilstein directly and they say boot down also but I believe they also say it doesn't matter ride wise that they will work either way...

Installed the 5100 shocks with the boot down it felt wrong but labels up so I went with it. My question is, the bottom of the boot is resting on the bracket that the bottom of the shock is connected too, will the vibration of the truck cause this to wear if it's rubbing against that?

At max setting the 5100's raise the front end 1.85" right?

So I am looking to swap out from the ranchos that came with the truck (2015 Silverado 1500 Z71). I am going to be getting the Bilstein 5100 ride adjustable for the front and remove 2.25" readylift leveling spacers. However in the rear the 5100s are for a 0-1" lift and I have a 3" block back there which puts lift at 1.5-1.75"(stock block is either 1.25 or 1.5"). I see that Bilstein has a 5125 that has different collapsed and extended lengths, has anyone got a 5125 to go with the 3" block and what size did you get? Or am I over thinking this and the 5100 will work for my application? Thanks

You can get the extenders for free from the dealership, I got two for when I am hunting and don't need a seatbelt.

Haha ya same thing with me, but I was checking all the doors. Then as I was doing it she jumped in the back seat and it went away. Got really confused when it came back.

I use a seat belt extender when I am hunting to disable the chime, leave it plugged in and I dont have to worry about the chime going off when I start truck too and scare something off. The dealership will give them to you for free even, I got two so I can plug one in the passenger side too, sometimes the dog sets that one off...
