Possible to add heated/cooled OEM seats?
pgamboa replied to harveyfamily's topic in Modifications & Accessories
Allow me to add to this. There is a LIN Bus Circuit (if I recall, is LIN Bus #2) that is NOT enabled in the BCM. This is the communication signal that the BCM uses to communicate to the Heat/Cooled module under the passenger seat. So even after adding ALL the wiring for that, it still didn't work for a truck that i worked on. I inquired with GTPRix at WAMS about sending the BCM off to have this enabled but ran out of time I had with the truck. I don't know if I will have another opportunity to retry this or if the schedules with WAMS will align with that opportunity (if it ever presents itself). Let's talk about the MSM (Memory Seat Module). I was able to successfully retrofit this module into my truck...BUT... There is a LOT more to this than simply adding/programming that MSM. MSM is responsible for Mirror Memory, Seat Memory, Key Fob Fold, Reverse Tilt, Pedal position memory, etc. There is a LOT of hardware that also needs to be replaced if you want the MSM to fully work and interface. Door Harnesses, Door Panel Harnesses, New Power Fold Switch, Passenger Window Switch, Pedal Adjust position sensor, Wires need to be removed, wires need to be added. Rewire of the pedal adjust motor relays, etc.etc.... So as you can see, there is more to getting the MSM to fully work. On to the Airbag Light...If you still have your factory seats, take a look on the bottom of the seats. Along one side fo the rails, there is a sensor. It is an impact sensor. It should have a 2-pin connector. This sensor needs to removed and installed into the new seats. I don't know why the new seats don't have it, but they need it. The system is seeing this sensor "missing". In previous threads, I've comment that this sensor was a Seat Position Sensor. After closer evaluation, it looks like an impact sensor. I thought this sensor and the management of this sensor was managed by the MSM, but I could be wrong. Essentially, the new seats need it. Hopefully you have the factory seats you can pull them off of. Hope this helps...probably not the response you were looking for. Just don't want you going further down into the rabbit hole. -
I don’t know what 84288040 will get ya... but everything else looks right. I can get these now from a supplier complete. With the wireless charging lid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes. I can order these now from a supplier. Current prices are: $750 - Console $75 - USB Cables $150 - Harness $975 total - shipped anywhere in the US. Due to a small handful of damaged consoles, the price will be increasing a little but will include insurance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nope. Phone is too wide. Any plus models or the XS Max will not fit. But it will charge with the 2018 charging module/lid. I have the XS Max with the Apple leather case and it charges. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes. That’s correct. 2018, Brand New Consoles, with the latest wireless charging lid. I haven’t made a public announcement or posting on this yet as I am still recovering from the backlog that was created during the Holidays. The pricing might be increasing a little so that insurance can be added to the shipment. Had a small handful of consoles that arrived damaged. Here are some pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

$975 total. $750 - Console $75 - USB Cables $150 - Conversion Harness Jumps seat - if leather, maybe $300-$350 (but shipping will be crazy so aim for local pickup). Cloth, maybe $250-$300 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Many have done this on a 2014. There are just more requirements to making it all work. GM didn’t land the tow mirror light circuits to the door jamb. Specifically, pins 9 and 11. So this means an additional harness for the inside of the cabin is necessary. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you want CarPlay to work in both of the console USB hubs (2016+ later trucks), it has been determined that **most** will need direct USB cable runs from the HMI to the USB hub. So - Black (from HMI) to Brown (front of the console brown port) -> this will cover the inside compartment hub. Green (from HMI) to Grey (front USB hub). In my video, I show how you can loop the signal from the front hub, out of it, and into the black port. For some, this “loop out” doesn’t pass the CarPlay logic, hence having to do direct runs. There are 3 total usb cables. Only 2 are needed. The two needed depends on how you want the USB ports to behave . Also depends on year and options loaded in the truck. Rather than hold up the install over a $20 cable, all 3 are sent with the order to accommodate all installation scenarios. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lead time if ordered/paid today is 7-10 business days. Might be shorter depending on your truck/trim level. Harnesses are $310 for the pair shipped anywhere in the US. $100 comes back to you if you send me your factory harnesses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you get 1AMRP01771 from 1A Auto or https://www.am-autoparts.com/products/side-view-mirrors/AM-3375422714.html No, you won’t need new harnesses. But you’ll need a pigtail to pin the mirror side. I stock them. If you get their power fold with memory, there is a bonus puddle light that work right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is the same mirror from AM Auto for about $60 less. https://www.am-autoparts.com/products/side-view-mirrors/AM-3397687628.html I build the custom harness for this mirror and stock the factory GM switch for $70. But since you’re 2015, you’ll want to explore the door jamb plug connector. You’ll want to inspect the cabin side for pins 9 and 11. See pic below. You can PM pics and info to order. Scott, No dealer visit needed as no flashing is necessary. With your truck being a 2015, you’ll need to explore your door jamb connector plug and inspect the cabin side of the plug. See pic below. You want to see if you have pins 9 and 11. Then we can go from there. You can go with GM mirrors or mirrors from 1A Auto/AM Auto and my custom harnesses for PnP functionality. Mike, Considering the listing states that you must have an existing dimming mirror, and without onstar, I’m not sure if you can use this mirror. It states it comes with an adapter harness as well, so no telling what they are doing with this adapter. My $75 harness will add the dimming feature to a normal dimming mirror, which will meet their requirements... but again, I am flying blind since I don’t know what the adapter harness does. LTZ/HC, SLT, AT, Denali. These trucks will most likely have DL3 Mirrors on them. Lower trim trucks like LT/SLE, and some WT will have DL8 Mirrors that won’t have the puddle but can upgrade to DL3 and gain it along with the turn signals and power fold... with my custom harnesses. For all 2014 trucks, that puddle lamp circuit (while present) may not enabled the voltage output and why the diode is needed. Some WT trucks may not have the puddle lamp present at all. When i made my videos, 2017 trucks were the latest trucks at the time. 2018 is the same as well as the carry over 2019 - LD (classic) and 2500 trucks... whatever they call them "carry over" trucks. As long as they are the same body style as 14-18. For 2018, they stopped printing the RPO codes and now have to scan a QR code...grrr... Trail Ridge mirrors will work for 2018. If you want to minimize costs, you can get a Trail ridge tow mirror that is just power adjust/heat. No lighting. It will be plug and play. Once you introduce lighting, a harness swap or modification of your factory harnesses will be needed. https://www.am-autoparts.com/products/side-view-mirrors/AM-1295053246.html If you get other mirrors with lighting, it will be nonfunctional. If you want to get GM mirrors, they will have lighting. I can get GM Mirrors though a GM Parts Supplier. Hope this helps.

My please sir. I know how frustrating and confusing this upgrade can be and I’m glad I can continue helping members here where I can. Used DL3s can range based on condition. I sell like new take offs (2017-2018 with less than 7500 miles) for about $375-$400 for the pair shipped. On average, I think ~$300 is fair. This can help absorb the cost of the upgrade. The detailed information certainly helps. Based on the symptoms, this is a classic case mirror where they did indeed tied the running light and turn signals together. This is why the front lights exhibited the behavior. By tying these two circuits together, what is happening is that voltage was being backfed and introduced into the running light/park light circuit and Vice versa. Park lights come on, turn signals in the glass would come. Or some similar symptom. The cargo light wouldn’t have worked since you didn’t swap out the door harnesses. The running light on the mirror was tied to your old puddle lamp (white downward shining light on your DL3 Mirror). So that amber light on your tow mirror would have come on at night, only when unlocking your truck. When I started this thread 3 years ago, I kept a running list of “mirrors to stay away from”. If I recall, DEDC was one of them. The list got WAY to long that I stopped gathering data and now only offer suggestions to what works. GM Factory Mirrors, 1A Auto/AM Auto, Syppo. The aftermarket space for tow mirrors is so flooded right now that it’s hard to tell who’s what. Many of them sourcing the mirrors from the same China vendor (or wherever they are coming from) as the symptoms are always the same. If you want to retain your SLT features, a good aftermarket alternative are mirrors from 1A Auto or AM Auto. They range from $450 - $650 depending on cap options, and if you need diesel exhaust brake support. Here is a set to look at. https://www.am-autoparts.com/products/side-view-mirrors/AM-2558332961.html The harness build for these mirrors are $310. I refund $100 if you send me your factory harnesses. Hope this helps. It’ll be all Plug and Play. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
