  1. You could always do something like this. Keeps symmetry and shows off the winch
  2. I've got a sierra, so I'm not sure the brackets are the same? I need to look at how the license is mounted now and see. Initially I was going to go with a new bumper, but I've worked it back to a grille guard, this may be even better. I'll have to take a look and let you know.
  3. That is amazing! I don't really know that I have a need for a winch but I want one now.
  4. +1, wrecked truck sucks but at least you and the fam walked away without too much injury.
  5. @diegosaurus Go Rhino RB20 They look great, I've also got a set on order that has been delayed once, fingers crossed it's not delayed again. I'm excited to see how they look in person. I do wish they had a cab + bed length as with the lift I'd love to be able to get stuff out of the bed with the help of the step.
  6. Why swap upper control arms? I see this a lot but I'm unclear on why.
  7. @Crazyjoker77 That looks amazing! Where did you buy the vinyl? I've got a kryptek theme going on inside my truck so I'm trying to find a place that prints that on 3M but the scale is hard to find.
  8. @Waterfowler41 such a beautiful truck.
  9. I'm starting to dig into this more and more. I'm pretty sure there is a tear or something in one of my speakers as when it gets loud enough there is distortion from the drivers side front speaker that wasn't there before. Really like the Alpine setup as it seems an easy plug and play option, and frankly I have a hard time trusting audio installers as I've seen and heard of a lot of horror stories and I don't have the knowledge to vet places. I understand this alpine kit is expensive, but I'm curious to know what a comparable kit would cost, how much would I save with a diy kit or visiting a quality installer? Also, for anyone that has heard the alpine system how does it sound? My music tastes vary from heavy metal to jazz so curious to know how this system handles any of that for anyone with the experience.
  10. Rock on man! Are you using an air mattress? I thought about doing that but doesn't seem like the bed is long enough for an air mattress to fit back there.
  11. @WesternMike Off to a good start man. You should go with 37s next go around. Those 35s look like skateboard wheels under that giant lift. Also, how do you like that cap? Been looking at caps recently to have more usable room plus safety and rain protection. Been looking at Leer and ARE. Curious to how the fit/finish is on yours. Those windows slide both ways or just one?
  12. Yeah, honestly never even gave second thought about it. Always an out of sight out of mind thing. Crazy thing is they didn't take anything else. I had a black backpack in the rear and a hard drive, few nice knives and multi tool all in the center console within easy view. They didn't touch a thing except the purse. Really gives you paranoia about security for your truck. Even with an alarm it only works if there is someone around to hear.
  13. Not really something "I" did to the truck but hey may as well post. Went to do a little local camping with my lady and the pups this weekend. Got a spot right on the river to do a little fishing as well. Decided to take the pups out on a little hike when we came back from the trail to this: Some **** took a rock and smashed my window, dented the door-pillar real good and stole my ladys purse. Had her wallet credit cards and mil ID. Purse was stuffed under the seat but I guess they saw part of it or the strap. Sad thing was it wasn't even a nice purse, it was some army-navy OD bag and there was like $10 cash in it. Happened Sat mid morning and insurance won't get someone out to look at it till Monday/Tuesday and told me not to drive it. So weekend is kind of a bust. Moral to the story is that it pays to have a place to stash valuables WAY out of sight. Under the front seat is no longer an option.
  14. @Daly Love that RCMB. I don't know how but they were going for MUCH more when I bought my CCSB. Guess they just didn't have enough RCs to justify the discounts like on the CCs.
  15. I test drove a F250 when I was looking at full size diesel trucks and really liked the tow mirrors as you could see so much more when changing lanes and navigating around tight places in city locals. I ended up getting them for that reason and that I like how they look with a lifted truck. That said I totally agree with you. I've had more than once where I'm going to turn from a slow or merge and almost miss a person or vehicle the mirror was covering. I've got to be extra careful about that now and I tend to stop for an extra second or two just to make sure nothing is there before moving. Scared the crap out of me the first time.
  16. @Mike GMC There is a difference between overlanding and trail trucks. As you stated full size trucks are challenging as they are basically terrible in every way on most trails. However trail trucks are normally built to do trails and it's not uncommon to see them trailered to a trail. Overlanding trucks are more about going long distances in rugged terrain while living out of the truck. You don't see any of it in the north east really outside of a few parts of VT/NH/ME, even so it's not really the area to do it. Mostly a western state thing. Usually it's a rather small lift (2-3") with 33" or so tires. MPG becomes something you want to consider when traveling long distances off road and camping in the middle of nowhere.
  17. Can you mount a rooftop tend on those caps? I like the utility but am not sure what the weight restriction would be moving/off-road vs static.
  18. I've got to imagine those hood pods are going to be crazy loud for any wind noise on the highway. If it doesn't bother you then by all means, but it would drive me insane.
  19. All these trucks are beautiful. Wish I had the time for another project.
  20. Ah, so it came from the factory like that! My bad, thought you did it after. Looks great.
  21. @bc-chris Got any more photos of that '89? Interior looks amazing.
  22. Yeah, sorry I was asking what brand. DIY or professional?
  23. Line-X? Looks great. I saw a GMC with this done from a local dealer. I loved the look, thought about doing it to mine but still back and forth on an aftermarket bumper.
  24. How do those work? They turn the head unit on when the directional turns on? Maybe backing up too?
