  1. As true as that may be the raptor is still crushing sales. GM is going to have to do a lot better than custom shocks and a few stickers if it wants to seriously compete. Widebody and custom bumpers seem like a requirement in the looks department.
  2. That may be true, but the metal has zero sprint in the clips. I almost snapped a piece off as I was trying to adjust it. Didn't have that issue with the OEM clips.
  3. I started to replace my rotors and pads with upgrades from EBC. As with everything it didn't go smoothly. I struggled to find the brake pad clips in stock at any local parts store. Of course no one had ACDelco in stock so that left me with some aftermarket option (brake best). I should have just waited and bought some OEM clips and boots but I was too eager to get this wrapped up. The metal clips fit nicely, although didn't seem to have as firm a grip as the OEM ones, I didn't pay it too much mind but once I put the pads in I couldn't get the pads to not tough the rotors, I messed around with the clips themselves and obviously they are the most cheap metal possible, there is zero spring to them so if I left them as is they would almost surely squeak and wear prematurely. So now I've got to try and get some OEM boots and clips Monday to try and wrap this up. Word to the wise, don't use brake best if you undertake this, they are crap product. Hard to tell but the right pad has almost full contact with the rotor. On the plus side everything is lining up well They also look pretty nice, enjoy the black, even if they are pretty small for the wheel size (20") Also, ignore the missing hub, I just threw the wheel back on until tomorrow.
  4. Because I'm a monster: https://www.methodracewheels.com/collections/accessories/products/lip-bolt-kit-black
  5. I like your flares, with the amount I just spent on them I'm gonna leave what I how, for now at least. Great looking truck btw. I'm not sure I follow the IR lights thing.
  6. Ok, so I haven't actually done this yet but I figured I'd update since it's been a while since I was around. Updates made recently Purchased bushwacker fender flares and had them line-xed. I do not like the fender flare look, but with the BDS lift and wheels being slightly more offset than stock, in addition with the additional 1.5" from the knuckle I got flagged and didn't pass inspection in NH. I planned to do the fender flares but I'm honestly unsure how I like them. I'm going back and forth. It was installed in a non-permanent manner, meaning I didn't drill additional holes, so I should be able to remove if I hate them and go find a more lax inspection station. Also upgraded to black bolts on my method NV wheels. The zinc that comes with the wheels started to rust and I wanted to black them out anyway. I tried to paint the zinc ones I had, but after a fair amount of time messing around with cleaning the rust and zinc off and losing two due to wind (attached to a piece of cardboard that got picked up) I gave up and bought the powdercoated ones from Method. Plus side they should last longer since they are powdercoated. Upgrades coming in soon! Just purchased some slotted coated rotors and EBC green stuff brake pads. Assuming this weekend is another weekend that is too hot to hunt I'll be installing and taking a few photos of how she looks now. Also looking at picking up a bull bar and some lights for the fall/winter shooting times. I need to get my full plan in place for doing the aux switches and getting everything mostly factory. I want to install some IR lights and a kill switch for the exterior/interior lights for while driving off road under NVGs. Maybe @pgamboa can give me some idea at how to make that happen since he is such a wiz with the electronics
  7. I've got 60k on mine and the brakes are ok but rotors have warped. Likely because of larger tires.
  8. Are there directions for any of this? I've been reading through this, and am trying to figure it out although admittedly this is my first stab at anything like this. I seem to have the pins in the junction box, but beyond that I've got no idea what else there is to this, outside needing the new upfitter switches.
  9. I've been digging through this and a few others as I look to do this mod. Haven't ever wired additional stuff to a truck so this world is new to me. My truck is a 2016 Sierra SLE. I've currently got two switches, TC and bed lights. I'm looking to upgrade to switch bank #23145158. When I popped my box I see the below: (rotated 90° counter-clockwise, so the bottom right is actually the bottom left of the box. Said another way this should be terminal 1 assuming that terminal 1 is the most bottom left terminal) Looking at the GM upfitter bulliten (https://www.gmupfitter.com/files/media/photo/604/UI Bulletin_110h.pdf) it seems that I need #1, 4, 14, 20: So, if I'm following this correctly. I buy the new bank, which is plug and play, then run my wires to the battery (red and black to red and black) and run my output wire (prob blue) to pin 1, 4, 14, or 20 (depending on which switch I want to operate which set of lights). I'm gonna need to install some sort of fuse block for a more clean install. Still debating if I want to run a second battery but for the time being I can run this and upgrade to a second battery later if this ever becomes a problem. Can someone correct me if I'm wrong here, noobie and all. Much appreciate the help!
  10. That is a great looking truck. What is your setup?
  11. I don't see how it's "false". He goes over why the current aftermarket covers aren't good, shows the fluid dynamics of them, shows aeration, talks about how some of them aren't getting oil to the front pinion. When he has shown the lower half of his cover it's clearly different from the others on the market. BD has the most similar except it achieves the additional oil level with an added cavity on the bottom which is clearly going to cause issue with the fluid dynamics. Now I don't know if his diff cover will be available for the smaller axels in our 1500s but it seems incorrect to say his info is wrong simply because he is planning to make his own. Additionally, having yourself and a buddy without issues doesn't speak much to long term wear or performance. To be clear, I don't think a diff cover is going to make or break anything in the short term, but in the longer term it may be responsible for additional wear and tear.
  12. Regarding all the diff covers convo. Banks power did a pretty interesting series of videos on how the flat backed covers mess with fluid dynamics and heat up the fluid, while overfilling or filling more than the 4qt set amount can cause excessive aeration in the fluid which weakens it's performance. Seems like the most performant setup for longevity, regardless of towing or not, is to keep the stock cover.
  13. Great looking truck. Are those 35s?
  14. Have you noticed a difference in ride with this setup? Softer or firmer than whatever is included with the zone (if you can recall)?
  15. @SS502 I'm a ducks fan too, just different sport. @TXGREEK I've had a few break ins with a number of vehicles, anywhere from trailhead to parking lots to work parking lots. I love my truck and I don't help myself by putting nice tires and such on it, but I'd rather not add any stickers that showcase I'm a gun owner, for numerous reasons. American flag is what I do.
  16. @SS502 @lapoolboy agreed, never know who is watching, but can't always be. I love the hitch cover and .50 cal antenna, but for me it's not worth the risk of making yourself a target. To each their own.
  17. Nothing screams "I may have guns in the car, please break a window and check" like plastering gun imagery all over the truck. ;)
  18. @Barman84 What are those tails? They look nice.
  19. Oh no kidding. I hadn't read that before. Where does that info come from, did you measure or is it listed somewhere?
  20. According to BDS on their 6" lift it's 1.5" track width each side, not 1.75". Unless the info I got from the BDS rep was wrong, in which case please link to confirmation on 1.75" so I can order the right size.
  21. Got the title after paying the remainder of the loan off. Such a good feeling for just a piece of paper.
  22. +1 to that. Pops had an early Lincoln LS that had a THX branded audio system and it's far and away the best stock audio system I've had the ability to listen to.
  23. Great looking truck. How much noise do those light pods on the hood make?
  24. Do not get this unit. I have no experience with it directly but a handful of reasons why: The tech is based off a cheap consumer android tablet. Generally these tablets have degrading performance over time much more severely than the OEM tech. You won't notice this the first few weeks but you will most surely notice after a few months. You really don't want all your controls on a screen. It may seem nice because you can use the extra space but it's going to be annoying over time when you try and adjust the A/C and can't get it right because its a touch screen. This will be more painful once the tablet starts to slow down. Boot time is horrendous on these things from what I've read. The volume and fan are switched, which is annoying.
