Post your 2014+ wheel/tire set-up
DLW66 replied to BlueWrapper's topic in Modifications & Accessories
I'm also at 36. -
I mentioned in my previous post I went with the BDS full leaf spring replacement (ride glide leaf packs), so no blocks other than the stock block and you can see in the pic the rear is higher than the front. They are made to keep the same towing capacity as stock and give the rear about a 1" higher rake. The add-a-leaf from BDS I believe gives the same stance if using the big block from the kit. The block alone, seems like the back ends up even with front, from what I can tell. Some trucks looks even a little lower in the rear.
-
Not sure how you arrived at those measurements, but no bueno .. My truck with a BDS 6" lift and MT ATZ 35" tires, the AMP step is 15.25" to the top of the board. My wife is 5 ft. tall, she does fine getting in and out. I struggled between the two kits as you did. I am glad I did the 6" lift, and went with the FOX shocks front/rear, and went with the BDS leaf springs vs the blocks.

Cleaning is easy. The texture is really fine in line-X so no harder to wash than the paint on the truck and it doesn't discolor from the sun. Oddly, the top actually looks cleaner than the rest of my truck right now. Most trucks look better color matched. White on white to me is just to much white, lol..I had to break it up and black paint would not look right either, this textured satin black color fit the bill. I have zero regrets. My last truck was black, I could go about two days before it looked dirty again, one reason I didn't mind getting a white truck this time. Black is my favorite color too, just more upkeep. -
Thank You Robert, appreciate it..

Thanks man. Back is a touch higher than the front, I like it this way as well. When I bought the ARE top, I chose the option to have them Line-X it instead of color match. -
2017 Sierra AT 6.2L. BDS 6" lift kit with BDS leaf spring option, FOX coil overs w/DSC front, FOX rear shocks. SOTA R.E.P.R. 20x9" wheels, 5.5" BS, Satin Black option. 35" MT ATZ's.

Mine is a ARE Z series but I took a different route and had it Line-X instead of the usual color matching. I know everyone prefers color match but I couldn't do it on this white truck, it was bland enough already so thought I would try something a bit different here. This a is a 2017 AT. -

Here is mine. -
I used the mirror part numbers I listed, and Phil made me some stock re-pinned harnesses due to me originally ordering the wrong OEM harnesses, so I made a deal with Phil. The OEM harnesses I listed are harnesses several folks have used successfully on here, with RPO codes DL3 and A45, which is what I have as well. I have a 2017 Sierra SLT All Terrain. All features work for me.

Phil, did you mean part # 23342727 instead of 233427272?

Phil, just an update, the stock harnesses you re-pinned and sent to me worked out perfect. So to sum it up, Phil already had a set of harnesses the same part numbers as my stock 2017 DL3/A45 mirror harnesses were, and he was able to reconfigure the pin out's on it to make it a simple plug and play ordeal for me, thus resolving the LED and amber lights not working properly on my stock harnesses. Because of my own doing, I can swap out door harnesses in both doors in 45 minutes or less (because the 3rd time is a charm) and hope to never do it again now. I will say Phil is a super nice and trusting guy willing to help fellow forum members out, sharing his knowledge for free because he enjoys helping others, and very fair prices on his modified harnesses if you chooses to go that route. Harnesses were completely stock looking in appearance and work great. He modified and sent them out to me within 24 hours and received them about 72 hours after that. Much appreciate your help Phil!

Duly noted. I can actually think of a few bigger POS than this though, lol. But lets not vear off from this devastating topic..I don't think anyone disagrees here.

Posting this to clear up my previous posts. I think I solved the mystery I was having. The two harnesses I swore were 23342727 and 23342716, are really parts 23342726 and 23342714. I caught this looking at the pin out when it finally sunk in to me. I did order 23342727 and 23342716 but got the wrong harnesses some how. I got one box with both harnesses and the part number on box was all together different as I recall. I guess this is a big slap in my face for not catching the part numbers even after I looked at them probably 10 times and still not catching it. Yes, you can say it, I am a big dumb arse. Look forward to the harnesses pgamboa is sending and for him bailing me out here. Thank you all who jumped in to help, it was most appreciated.

I had DL3, then tried DPN, then went to DQS. I originally thought DPN would be fine (they didn't work right either) but later decided I wanted the power fold back and the memory functions so bought and installed the DQS last weekend hoping they would work with no other issues, they didn't either. pgamboa has a couple modified stock harnesses coming my way now so hopefully that will be the end of my dilema with the LED rears and front ambers. Sounds like it's just a matter of a couple pins needing moved around but not sure.

I can definately do that, but if there is something missing then GM has a major issue here with the same part numbers having different pin outs. Obviously something is strange though. BTW, I tried both mirror types, DPN and DQS, no different, but obviously the DPN does not have power fold. One good thing, I was able to take the black covers off the DPN mirrors and put them on my DQS mirrors replacing the chrome pieces as they didn't look right on my AT. So, I have to off these DPN's now with chrome covers...But it was worth a try since the DPN's were an actual option for the GMC sierra 1500's.

I thought the two harnesses I used (23342727 and 23342716) superseded part numbers 23171567 and 23171597? Those harnesses say they are for DL3/A45. However your explanation makes since, except in Black Denali Canada's case where he used the same harness part numbers as me and also has A45 code. At any rate, I like your idea of sending me a couple modified 23342732 and 23342722 stock harnesses to replace mine, might be the easiest solution and I can send you back the 4 harnesses I have. I'll PM you about this. I am an expert at removing the door panels and replacing the harnesses now anyway ..

Not like GM invented it, Ford actually came out with the capless fuel system back in 2008 and now quite a few manufactures have followed suit because the public showed a positive interest in it, especially women. I however agree there should be a sealed side door if you want to use a capless system.

First, great job with the write up and the service you offer. I have a 2017 Sierra SLT, AT, 6.2L that has DL3 and A45 RPO codes. I swapped to the DQS mirrors, tried the stock door harness first and everything worked but the LED rear flood lights and the amber lights worked as puddle lights. I swapped to new harnesses 23342727 and 23342716 which got the rear floods lights and amber lights working right, but lost power fold, memory, power mirror's, and memory seats with those harnesses. Those harnesses are supposed to be the proper ones listed in that chart floating around for the 2016 year with my RPO codes. Well they don't work and a BCM upgrade won't fix it either. With the stock harnesses, maybe the BCM update would correct the LED and amber light not working, but not sure what the BCM update actually does. Needles to say I switched back to the stock harnesses for now. If anyone wants to know the part number from my 2017 stock harness it is 23342732 LH, and 23342722 RH. Those allowed full DL3/A45 functionality. I would think mine should be the same as Black Denali Canad's setup he did, how did you guys get the rear LED's and ambers to work?

I have a very low mileage 2017 and makes this slightly noticeable whine at highway speeds while on the accelerator and goes away when letting off. It's quite around town at lower speeds, not noticeable at all. Has done this since new, so did the other truck I test drove. From the what I gather, most no mileage trucks pulling off the dealer lot have this sound, except a select few don't? This seems to all over the place to me...

Blind Spot Detection... Or lack there of.
DLW66 replied to Nelsonm6's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I may be one of the few that don't really care about the blind spot lights on a truck, I have them on my Audi and are neat, but I still look over my shoulder when changing lanes and I don't really need additional lights blinking at me. To each there own. I gotta say, I do like having a push button start over another big extra key gouging me in the my leg though. It is what it is though, and I still love the truck anyway .. -

I'm changing to the trailering mirrors personally. Stock ones are decent, the trailer mirrors are much better, especially if you actually tow anything. -
Who likes their 8 Speed?
