that's some serious vibration!! Much worse then mine. I sure wouldn't stand for that!

my point is that it is an issue. Be it a slight vibration or a cup falling out of the cup holder. there's no excuse for justifying ANY vibration in a truck that cost near 50k. I'm sure Gm is hoping ALOT of people think like you. ANY vibration that there all the time will cause premature wear of driveline, suspension and steering components. Maybe you will buy into there bs that some levels of vibration are within limits but not me. Ive owned to many chev trucks to know that this isn't the norm for them. Somethings wrong and Gm needs to address it. Let me ask you this. Gm in there great wisdom has determined that oil consumption isn't considered excessive unless your using more then a quart every 1000 miles. If your NEW truck was using a quart every 1500 miles would you sit back and except and believe that's really normal??

this seems to be the core problem were dealing with. Gm is tight lipped about what is causing all this problems. they don't even tell there dealership service depts. it even exists. I know guys personally in the service dept at my dealership and they said Gm has sent no bulletin on this so they don't know where to start. they said Gm acts like the problem doesn't exist. All they tell them is theres an expectable level of vibration which is total bs. A 47k truck should NOT vibrate. I think gm is sitting back figuring if they admit to it it will cost them major money to fix them all and that a good many will just live with it when there told its within guidelines or get so disgusted that they trade the truck off on something else. that and a good many aren't mechanically inclined enough or pay attention enough to even notice it. If I never drove above 60mph I wouldn't have noticed it either. New wheels and tires cured mine but for how long? It obviously too doesn't cure everyones. First time a tie rod end falls apart from premature wear at 30k and kills someone gm might actually do something. Just hope its not you that is that person.

well I got mine back yesterday. With the new rims and tires the shake seems to have gone away. I had it up to 80 and it was very smooth. Hope it stays that way.

If my wife would have bought my truck she would never have said a word. Its shake plain and simple. May not be as severe as some have but NO vibration is expectable in a 45,000 dollar truck. Ive had chevs new since the early 70s and NONE of them had shake unless the tires were out of balance. Don't care how mild the shake is. Eventually its going to cause premature wear of some component in the truck. One of my main points is not everyone is mechanically inclined. Ive seen people drive cars and trucks with rod knocks that didn't even notice. Because your truck doesn't have it or you choose to buy into GMs bs that theres an acceptable limit to the vibration doesn't mean myself or someone else is going to stand for it. Theres something wrong here plain and simple. If there wasn't Gm wouldn't have gave me an extended warrantee. Only thing different between me and some others is I stood up to the dealership and said it was unacceptable at any level. There also wouldn't be a class action suit if it were only a handful of trucks effected. The problem is REAL. Stick your head in the sand or try to belittle others for complaining if you want. that's just what corporate GM and the major stock holders are hoping you will do.

probably even more then that. Keep in mind that the people on here on mostly enthusiasts. Probably a higher percentage have some mechanical knowledge then joe blow off the street. I wonder how many shake and its wrote off to bad roads or some mechanic has said it was normal or people riding around with it thinking its there tires and they will live with it a bit longer till there wore enough to replace. Keep in mind too that my truck really only did it past 65 and a good many truck drivers don't drive there trucks that fast. Lots of work trucks farm trucks and grandpa trucks that don't even see a highway often and when they do there driven 55. Even at 65 you had to pay attention with mine to feel it and it seemed to almost come and go. Now drive it 70-75 and it was real noticeable. Id bet half the shaker that chev made are in the hands of soccer moms and other people that don't even pay attention to there vehicle when they drive it. My neighbor just told me of a typical mom. His daughter bought a new jeep grand Cherokee two years ago and it has 27k on it. He asked her when she last changed oil and she said its never been changed. She said the check oil light came on so she checked the oil and it looked good so she reset it. do you think she noticed a slight vibration or a slight noise. To busy texting. years ago truck were mostly bought by men who needed them. Up here now theres one it about every driveway be it a farmers or a doctors.

ive got a 2015 jk 2 door willys. Had many jeeps in the past but this new one is light years ahead of the older ones. If chev improved the silveado as much since 2006 as jeep has the wrangler they would be the only truck sold in the country! Only saving grace to all this bs and all the time my truck has sat at the shop is I still have the jk to drive. Its got 36k on it and hasn't been in for anything but oil changes.

well the dealership called on mine yesterday. Said they think they finally have fixed it. After 4 road force balancings of the bfg tires they put on a set of take off stock tires and it still shook. So this time they took an entire set of wheels and tires off of a truck on the lot and also replaced one shock that was questionable. They said its smooth now. We will see Monday when they bring it back. Funny thing is that last week I contact gm directly about this and got assigned a rep. The dealership has been dealing with him too trying to find the cause. When he called yesterday to say it was done he said the service rep said to give me a 4 year 60k warrantee on the truck too in case this vibration has caused problems. I seriously doubt they would have done that if they didn't know this problem exists. Funny thing too is when I got home yesterday and checked the mail there was a letter for a class action law suit over these vibration problems in the mail. Say what you want. Claim its an overblown problem that a bunch of winers are bitching about but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't waste the time on a law suit if there wasn't a big problem with them . Funny thing too is my neighbor just bought a new 17 silveardo. I talked to him and he said his truck didn't shake. Two days later he came up to me and said it did. He said after I told him about mine he started paying more attention and had never noticed it before. I think that is the case with a lot of them. People who buy them ignore it and think its just rough road surface or are like my wife and aren't mechanicaly inclined enough to even know something isn't right. Lots buy there first truck and think its normal because its a car not a truck. If anything id bet this problem is NOT overblown one bit on here. Id bet just the opposite. Id bet theres probably twice as many truck out there that have a problem then are reported. Why else would there even be a class action law suit started against gm. In fact mine is probably one of the ones that wasn't as bad as most. One that many would have just overlooked or not paid attention enough to realize it wasn't right.

Question. If I buy a diablo tuner will it allow me to shut the cyl deactivation off at only high speeds? I heard the hypertech does but they don't make one for the 17s. Id like to set it for 60mph and eliminate it kicking in and out around town. Also if I have the 87 oct canned tune installed and cylinder deactivation shut off and go in for service and put the stock tune back in so the dealer doesn't see it do I first have to turn the cutout back on before I install the stock tune or does it automatically come back on with the stock tune?

there is a service bulletin and a computer reprogram that takes care of this. At least in the case of the 17s. Mine did the same and after reprograming it went away. It is your torque converter lockup kicking in and out.
