  1. bit of an update it popped out of 4low this morning it shifts fine now but service 4wd its back on the dash, and when i start the truck it starts it seems to pick a random setting(auto, 2hi 4hi/low). im going to check and and change the fluid out before i throw parts at it, double check my ground wires. and take a good look at the wiring and case.
  2. Have an 03 gmc 2500hd that ive been slowly rebuilding and just passed inspection it used to have service 4wd untill i cleaned up the driver side grounds and started to shift fine atleast long enough to pass, until today it shifted by itself into 4low by itself once i turned the truck on now it will not come out even in neutral tried going R-N-D-R-N...etc to kick it back on but no luck, confirmed it wasn't the 4x4 selector buttons, its not pulling any codes atleast on my scan tool. hitting up the junk yard tomorrow just going to grab a used tccm, actuator off the front diff and transfer case shift encoder since they are all super easy to pull and dirt cheap at my local junk yard and i have nothing but time at the moment. just wondering if any of you guys have had good/bad luck with any of those parts failing on you and causing the truck to get stuck into 4low/hi or the truck shifting into those selections by itself. and what your fixes and problems were. thanks guys!

  4. Starter cuts out intermittently when cranking once the weather drops past -10c ish and makes a loud buzzing sound. exact sound in video i found. truck will still start up first try but usually cuts out mid crank/end of crank/sometimes doesn't crank at all making that sound the second i turn the key. just wondering why it only happens in cold weather and gets worse and more frequent the more the temps drop, happened last winter too so i bought a new starter just never installed it cause once it warmed up the truck cranks no problem haven't had any issues all summer starting it multiple times a day driving around and to different jobsites. truck has a brand new battery, battery blanket and block heater still happens when plugged in. just curious if anyone has experienced this, could it be something im overlooking like a relay or bad ground to the starter. also just looking to get out of replacing the starter in the snow haha. -35c in a few days would like to play around with it while its still -15c. (2005 gmc sierra 1500) thanks a bunch guys
  5. Seems to a bum alternator, something i didn't expect since it was new. Was able to get ahold of napa in the other town and get an email of my receipt and get a new one to try out. this one is holding 14.6 the second the truck turns on now. thanks a bunch
  6. Replaced battery and alternator after the truck died after a 5 hour drive a month back. i had to replace the battery and alternator since the truck was holding 10.5 volts on the old batt/alt and i was 5 hours away working in another town so i had no choice to replace both to make the 5 hour drive home. now the truck does this weird thing were it will only start charging once you hit a certain rpm range. ive cleaned the grounds under the driver side on the frame rail. The one under the rad support to battery . Replaced the broken hood to body ground. Checked the body to block ground strap and now the truck will ONLY start charging once the RPMS hit 4-7k and then the truck runs completely like normal and holds voltage at any rpm. untill the truck is turned off and you have to repeat the process of having to rev/drive the truck up to 4-7k rpms and voltage jumps to 10v to 14.5v. i don't mind doing this when its warm lol since its a quick fix but its not ideal and the problem is winter is coming and regular -20c to -30c temps soon so i don't want to be hitting those rpms to keep the battery alive when the truck is still warming up. ive read that 2005 models have some kind of module on the ground. just wondering if anyone has experienced this weird symptom .any ideas would be helpful, thanks guys. 2005 gmc sierra 1500 4x4
