I have about 550 miles on my rebuilt 6.2L going to change the oil again (did it the first 2 hours after idle). An exhaust valve spring cracked in three places on cylinder 4 on the rebuild. Replaced the valve spring last Thursday. Drove it every day so far and haven't had any issues (a little over 200 miles). I hope I fall into the 97% that don't have a lifter failure now that this L87 has been rebuilt with updated parts.

I prefer to just keep this truck. It's paid for (paid it off just recently), but of course it's having problems now. Nothing seems to be built to last anymore. The other option is a 2500 Gasser. I heard the L8T is a solid engine.

Extended warranty. Got the truck back last week after an engine rebuild. Made it 400 miles, now the injectors took a sh*t. Hope they cover this one too.. after this I might just dump the truck and buy a Tundra. I do not want to be on the side of the road in 120 degree AZ Summers.

Yes mine used to clunk. They retorqued the body mounts to the frame and it went away, been quiet over 3 years now.

Yes, Geico offers an extended warranty for 7 years or 100k miles. It's for cars that are less than 15 months old or 15k miles. It's paid for itself several times over since it's only a couple of hundred dollars a year on top of my insurance premium. I've had a transfer case replaced by them when I was out of powertrain warranty that GM considered "normal" even though the case was porous and leaking on my driveway. https://www.geico.com/auto-insurance/mechanical-breakdown-insurance/

So the extended warranty is through Geico mechanical breakdown insurance. They've been really easy to work with and the adjuster has told me that they've seen lifter failures enough and that's the repair to go with. I know they just want me to make it past 100k when the warranty expires so if there is another failure, it's on me. Once I get close to 100k I'll end up purchasing another warranty through Fidelity (I have a friend who's a finance manager) that'll give me coverage until 148k or 48 months from the time of purchase. All of this is still much more affordable than a new truck. I used to not be an extended warranty guy, but nothing seems to be built to last anymore.

Hello, I have 80k miles on my 2020 6.2L. Lifter dropped on cylinder #2. Oil has been changed every 5k religiously. I have an extended warranty that will be replacing the cam and all lifters/pushrods. My question is. if this were your truck would you go with the stock replacement (I believe they are an updated part number) and get a Pulsar to disable DFM? Or, just do a delete kit and get the ECM tuned? I'm leaning towards just doing the updated lifters and adding a Pulsar since I am on 35s and would like to get rid of DFM and auto start/stop. I am also aware there's still a chance of lifter failure even with the update. I just want a reliable truck (this is a daily driver and I take the family on trips out of state with it often), not looking to make a bunch of power or anything of the sort and would like to keep it another 80k+ miles.

Living in the desert is tough on everything. I changed my coolant, tranny, brake fluid and diffs/t-case out at 50k miles. I'll do the same rotation at 100k or so. I'm also harder on my truck than the average.

Bringing this back from the dead. I'm taking the plunge. As much as I really like this Bilstien set up it has it's limitations. I need more dampening and compliance on these washboard roads and my buddy who's a Toyota guy and a big King fan has had nothing, but good things to say. Not backordered like Icon or King either. I'll post pics and let everyone know how they perform.

I have a whine present in my 2020 6.2, I don't think it's alternator though. Going to the dealer after Labor Day and will update then.

Agreed. Surprised the dealership didn't put in for goodwill. Get GM to stand behind their trucks.
