  1. I worked as a tow truck driver. Every year, when the people changed from winter to summer or summer to winter tires, I had a lot of customers with either loose lug nuts or broken (sheared) wheel studs/bolts. So yes. It is important.
  2. The issue I have is that the pad itself is too narrow. I first had a P30 Pro which fit perfectly (with case) on the charging pad and charged well. My new S22+ won't fit with the case. I guess I go with 3d printing a bezel and put an aftermarket charger there, and try to make it look as OEM as possible.
  3. 12$ / gallon for regular fuel today. On the highway, the price is at 13$ to 15$ / gallon. The prices went up alot here too, and last time I checked, Biden wasn't my president. Anyways, I'm glad that i can use e85, because it is more or less locally produced (wood waste) the price is relatively stable.
  4. Yes, it's there in P and N, and goes away as soon as you are in D or R.
  5. You also need new bolts for the transfer case bolts as they are torque to yield. Also, I would recomment to get a new gasket for the transmission oil cooler braket. The gaskets for the exhaust pipes should be replaced to.
  6. Hi I have that whining/whirring noise in the video when idling. No other issues, no fault codes. It comes on and off, and is only noticeable when idling. It comes from the rear part of the transmission. TC is new. Oil is also new. Any ideas?
  7. Hi My 14 5.3l does not start very well in winter. I mostly drive e85 right now (as that is only 6$/gallon and not 7,50$-8$/gallon). I noticed when the engine is cold and it's under 5°C (41°F) the engine needs to crank some time till it starts and does not run very well the first few seconds. Anyone else experienced that with e85? When I shift to drive the engine even stalls. When I leave the engine running a few seconds, then I can drive without any issues. Same when the engine is warm, it fires right up and I can go. Also I have the feeling that my fuel consumption rose a bit since the last weeks. Beside that, no fault codes, check engine lights or any other weird behaviour. Maybe an issue with an injector? Or are the MAF Sensors known to fail on these engines?
  8. But nowadays you can only use this method to compare cylinders on one bank with eachother. Reading a spark plug is difficult nowadays because of constantly lean running engines. @OP, are your exhaust fumes smelling like (unburnt) fuel? How is your engine generally running? Is the idle smooth?
  9. Removing the exhaust is the way it's supposed to be made. That's 3 bolts on each header, and the rear clamp holding the pipes together. Also the connectors of the O2 Sensors need to be removed. If you do it by removing the bolts of the rear transmission mount ( the ones on the crossmember), you need to replace those bolts (or at least you should) as those are expansion bolts. Part # 11561618. First pass 45 Nm (33 lb ft), Second pass 50 degrees. The bolts of the oil pan get 9 Nm (80 lb in). (on the 8L90 its 10Nm or 89lb in) Thats for the 6L80, 8L90 It also works by pulling on the exhaust with a ratchet strap and a piece of wood.
  10. Had a similar issue. After I had replaced the vaccum pump everything worked again. Also had the recall, but there was just a reflash been done.
  11. I found the partnumber. It's 11588713 Thank you all for your help I'm not a huge fan of anti-seize. Especially the ones with metallic parts (like copper anti-seize) because they often lead to corrosion due to electrochemical corrosion when in use with different metals. And yes, if it would be my old daily driver beater car, then I would do it like this. But with my truck, I want to keep everything in good shape.
  12. No unfortunately no success That would be my last try. The problem is that it is important to choose the right material. Otherwise the bolt will corrode in the manifold, or the heat shield will corrode away around the bolt.
  13. Hi I'm replacing my engine mounts at the moment. And because of that, I had to remove the heat shields. Some of the bolts almost snapped, so I want to recut the threads and replace the bolts. Before I start to search for some universal bolts, I wanted to ask if someone is able to get the original part number from the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts. It's a 2014 Silverado with the 5.3l
  14. Thanks so far. As I have now more free time on my hand, I want to replace the TC. Anyone know "TC Remanufacturing" Torque Converters? For Sonnax, anyone know someone who sells converters with these kits? Someone in a FB group (and boettcher40 here) mentioned " 2014 Cts V/ZL1 converter bolt right up and don’t seem to have the same issues". Anyone know more about that?
  15. Hi I'm starting to get crazy. I have a 2003 Tahoe where I replaced the rear transfer case housing because of the pump rub issue. I also fit the kit to stop this from happening again. Since then, the rear output shaft seal leaks. But it's not the seal itself, it leaks between seal and housing. I replaced it several times now. Tried different manufacturers, tried it with rtv and without rtv. The bearing is new. I also replaced the slip yoke. I'm out of ideas. It seems that the leak comes from the top between the seal and the housing. How can I get this transfer case to stop leaking?
  16. Hi Was there ever an option for automatic wipers? If so, is it possible to retrofit them? Anyone already done that? What parts do you need? Is a new windshield required? The reason I want to have automatic wipers is that I live in the alps where there are a lot of short and long tunnels and the weather changes every few kilometers. So when you're driving in rainy weather you are always fiddling around finding the "right" wiper speed and switching it on and off. It's a 2014 silverado LTZ. Thanks in advance
  17. Hi I've read some horrorstories about the torque converter failing and filling the transmission with metal flakes. As I really don't want that to happen, I'm thinking about replacing the torque converter before it fails. My truck has currently around 115k miles. When I changed the transmission oil and filter at 100k, everything looked fine and I have currently no reason to think it will fail soon. 1. Is it really that common that the converter fails? 2. Should I go for an OEM Converter? Or any other brand? 3. Where can I get stuff like tightening torques, and technical information? I'm a mechanic, so replacing it shouldn't be a problem. It's a 2014 5.3
  18. I use E85 everytime when in France. 67ct/L E85 is a huge difference to 1.50€/L normal fuel
  19. When you already got factory LED tail lights, then the wiring harness is different. You need to look out for LED tails specifically for vehicles with Factory LED tail lights. Most (as far as I know all of them) aftermarket LED taillights are for cars with NO factory LEDs. It should be doable, but it`s not plug and play.
  20. Did you have factory LED Taillights? You need to plug them into the bulb housing and refit those into the taillights.
  21. So right now, all borders with our neighbouring countries are closed. I wanted to visit relatives living in germany, but I am not allowed to leave the country anymore. All schools/universities are closed. Bars and Restaurants have a 50 person limit, but more and more cantons are shutting down these places completely. All Ski resorts are closed and all public places are closed. Normally, if you`re on sick leave, you need a doctors note after three days. The government has risen the limit to 5 days, to free up capacities in hospitals. Also, most of the companies are strongly enforcing that you stay at home if you`re not feeling well, to avoid shutting down entire parts of the company because of quarantine. They also "mobilized" parts of the military (only medical troops and civilan service). But all in all, no chaos or whatsoever. Everything is just a little more complicated and because there is nothing anymore to do, it`s a little boring. But finally, I`ve got the time to play some videogames, read a book and do some work on my cars.
  22. I`m pretty annoyed by the corona epidemic. I wanted to fly a few days to the US, and now, I can`t get in the country no more. Thankfully my insurance covers all of this, but still, I`d rather have traveled. And now they are closing all borders in europe and shutting down all public events and locations. Now I have some days off work and can spend them sitting at home and looking outside the windows. And all these people buying an endless amount of masks and sanitizer. JUST WASH YOUR HANDS AND SNEEZE/COUGH IN YOUR ELBOWS. Hospitals, Doctors, Nurses and other healthpersonnel need them much more than you do.
  23. The minor drawbacks of driving a full size truck in Europe
  24. Yes, they arrived about 2 days after they were sent out from the shippingcompany in hawthorne.
  25. Finally had the time to fit the LTZ LED Taillights to my 2014 Truck
