  1. Sorry for my ignorance. Did you weld that piece on yourself or is it something you drill onto the frame?
  2. Are the hangers on the drivers side for a Z71 usually welded onto the frame?
  3. I notice the new 2021 Tahoe Z71 has an aluminium front skid plate. Looks like it will fit our '19+ Silverados/Sierras. But I can't find a part number anywhere. Too early I guess.
  4. New CV axles are designed "to run at higher running angles." Straight from a GM reps mouth.
  5. Sorry, my mistake. The plastic splash guard has plenty drain holes. They are smaller and less obvious but they are there. Thanks for taking the time in replying Rob Mugs.
  6. Silly question, but any reason why the aluminum skid plate that comes with the Z71 package have drain holes? Yet the plastic splash guard does not have any? I’m not speaking of the front plastic splash guard.
  7. The hard shift when cold is a known thing for the 8 speed. Just found out now myself. Seems like it is nothing to worry about. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10168176-9999.pdf
  8. I always wondered if 4lo was necessary for a trail like this. I have no experience to say.
  9. Good to hear. Cold hard 1-2 shifts is my only gripe with my truck.
  10. Did the ‘21 8-speed eliminate the cold morning 1-2 hard shift?
  11. Cool thanks. I saw in another post long ago that someone used river nuts to secure the plate. But I guess the U-nuts is the proper GM nut to use here. Please let me know how it goes when you get it done. Would like to see the finish product.
  12. Is there a part number for the bolts and special nuts? I wasn’t able to see any of that when looking to order the skid plate.
  13. Is there a part number for the bolts and special nuts? I wasn’t able to see any of that when looking to order the skid plate.
  14. I know there are lots of reasons for the answer but I wanted a general sense. Nothing scientific here. What brand of trucks, old models, do you see most around your area? Up here in Toronto, I notice a lot of old Chevys more than old Fords or Rams.
  15. Anyone install the transmission metal skid plate on their non-Z71?
  16. It's definitely a cost, but you can always search for a dual exhaust bumper (local shop take-offs, eBay or buy the part from GM parts websites), get it painted if necessary and buy the dual pipes. I remember a couple of fellows here did it. I asked about this as well when I first got my truck.
  17. Yeah, I’m in the minority opinion that the single exhaust looks better to me. Especially like the bigger single exhaust of the 2500 diesel.
  18. Yup, need to have the Z71 package to get dual exhaust on the RST.
  19. IMHO. If there’s any takeaway from this thread; it is that even if they replace your rear window, you should have the dealer apply the sealant from the get-go. Because eventually that new rear window slider will leak.
  20. Ah I see. Is it a different reverse light assembly or is it just a GM part led bulb for the SLT, AT4 and Denali?
  21. The AT4/TB come with led backup lights?
  22. Wow that’s amazing! For some reason I thought that it had to be tied in to the computer. Can I trouble you for the part numbers? I want to do this as well. Sorry to hijack your thread. Hopefully my replies attract some eyes for you.
  23. Can you show us the system you converted to? Is it the GM system?
  24. I know it’s an easy fix of a 5 minute warmup to avoid clunks. But I would get the 10 speed just to avoid having to do that. Would be nice to just get it and go in the mornings. Wish they would do something to “fix” the 8 so warmups aren’t necessary.
  25. So first thing in the morning, you get in and go, no issue? Not even elevated rpms or some sluggishness? My wife’s Traverse with the fwd 9 speed feels a bit sluggish at first when it is cold. When no clunks. But once it’s warm they all feel smooth.
