  1. The DIC comes on when I open the door but the screen for the center stack does not come on until I close it. It flashes the bowtie.
  2. I cannot recall if mine comes on when I open the door or not. I think it does after I shut the door though. As for the loud click, yes I have heard that. I believe it is just a sensor for the brake being depressed so the vehicle can start and be taken out of park.
  3. Does the Chevy performance exhaust sound good on the 5.3L?
  4. Yes indeed I have seen a lot of folks complain about what they did to their vehicles. Its generally funny. However, I wouldnt call straight pipping half assed. Sound quality, within reason, is subjective. I actually liked the sound of the Sierra with no muffler. I didnt like it when I tried to cover the resonators also. Some people would even argue that GM engineers did everything 100% right and the stock exhaust is the best it could ever be. We all know its not true but some believe that engineers do it all right and best all the time lol. That statement is also funny IMHO. Now the trucks running around that sound like crap is slapping and what not....cant stand em. Its usually the ones that have like 10" tail pipes. Those sound horrible. Again just my opinion.
  5. Funnny enough, the Sierra wasnt that loud even getting down on it. I run up and down the interstate twice a day commuting to work and you almost couldnt hear the exhaust. I left the resonators on it alone so not sure how much of a difference that made. I cant take drone though. I had a 1997 Z28 with a cutout right before the rear passenger tire. The drive from San Antonio, TX to GA when I PCS'd was not just bad it was HORRIBLE LOL. Needless to say, never again. My head was splitting from that drive.
  6. We all sound like our parents eventually, "DIRFT" LOL. With that in mind though, on the 21 Sierra I had, I did a muffler delete on it. I thought it sounded pretty good. I didnt mind the decl gurgle. Thats just normal. I sure as hell dont want it super loud. I got over that when I sold my 13 Camaro SS with LTHs and no mufflers lol. She sure was fun to drive though. Guess Im getting old. May do a delete on the 22 Silverado. Not decided yet. Id have to leave the flapper on due to the DFM.
  7. The only way I know to fix that is put a muffler back on. From what I have read, "It's caused by the decrease in exhaust gas when you lift off the throttle which creates a slight vacuum in the pipes." When I removed the muffler and flapper from my 21 Sierra, it did the same thing. I left the resonators though. Some people like it some don't.
  8. If you remove the flapper and leave DFM on, doesnt it sound like a helicopter? I plan on leaving DFM on. I used my neighbors Pulsar to see how I would like it but MPG dropped by 3ish. With my commute everyday, that is just a no go.
  9. When I put the kit with the springs on the 21 Sierra, it lifted the back some also. I didnt think it was supposed to do that. Since the springs are out of stock etc, I think this time Ill just get the shocks and struts. However, there is less of a difference between my front a rear on the 22 Silverado. Should I just assume if I set to the next to highest setting it would still level it out? Also, if you use the springs it says dont really use the next to highest setting unless you put a wench on or something. Is it the same for just the strut? I dont want it to be too stiff and ride rough. I liked the way it rode with springs and struts and hope its just as good with struts only. Thanks for the advice.
  10. When it gets full on summer here, who knows what it will do. The 2016 Silverado I had got up to 190 before flipping the pill.
  11. So, I guess we are gonna go with its normal. Ill stop worrying about it then. Next up, figure out what exhaust to put on while keeping DFM.
  12. I knew the trans was good. Was just pointing out what it was. The temp gauge was reading about midway between 210 and the next hash mark. I just ran it back down the road about 50-55 and it was just a bit over 210. I did have the Pulsar LT on it during the drive home. Not sure if that had anything to do with it mind you but I pulled it off when I lost 3MPG. As much as I love it being a V8 all the time, I dont want to loose that much. Not sure whats up with the 22s but the 21 Sierra got 20 easy with no DFM. Cutting this one off it dropped for 20-21 to 17ish. @dieselfan1As for oil pressure, Mine running down the highway is about 50-55. The 21 Sierra was about like yours is now which is about what I am used to.
  13. So its normal or not normal? My trans temp was about 167-169 when this was going on down the interstate etc.
  14. Ok awesome. It just seems so out of the norm to go over 210. I mean 210 seems hot as it is but even higher is crazy. Not to mention oil pressure going to 25. Thanks for the quick response.
  15. Riding down the interstate today, I saw my temps go over 210. Not just a smidge but Id say a good bit. When I got off the interstate and not going quite as fast it was still high to me. I am used to seeing the temps not go over 210. Is this normal? It was a balmy 61 degrees. Also, stopped at a light, it looked like the oil pressure was sitting about 25. Is this also normal? Thanks in advance.
  16. Add the Bakflip MX4. Looks much better than the soft fold for sure.
  17. This is all correct. However, the SLT I had and the LTZ I currently have arent enough apart in features that would cause a signification weight gain. Even driving it the amount I have so far I can see it will not get the same MPG. Not to mention, the LTZ has DFM and the SLT did not. Just makes me wonder if something was changed that we cant physically see and GM didnt bother to say. It all just seems odd.
  18. Traded in the problem child Sierra for this 2022 Silverado on Saturday, and washed on Sunday. Much more impressed. Doesnt seem this truck was built on a Friday or Monday. Today I also added the Air Raid Jr MIT.
  19. I believe they are the same weights. Looking at the title registration online it lists as 5230lbs. If memory serves, the other was the same. As for tire size, yes. They "the same size." the Bridgestones were 33" even and the GY are 32.99.
  20. Checked that one. The tires on it are GYs. Looking at them on Discount Tire's web page, they weigh 1 lb more than the stock Sierra tires.
  21. Sadly it has AS/S also. I plan on getting the Pulsar LT to take care of both items. Still though, wonder why the ratings are different. Riding down the interstate shows less MPG than the Sierra at the same speeds also. Granted the Sierra had a Air Raid MIT and no muffler but it shouldnt be that huge of a difference. The Sierra had no DFM and would get 20mpg running the highway (at 70) with no issue.
  22. I thought that may have been the case, but when I look them up, the 5.3L with DFM is still rated lower. According to the window sticker etc, the Silverado I traded the problem child Sierra in for, has DFM and has the lower ratings. Mine is rated 15/20 with a 17 combined. If it didnt have DFM I would understand that rating since that was what the Sierra was rated for. However, thats not the case.
  23. Anyone know why the 22 LTD 5.3L's are rated for less MPG than the 21's? Its the same engine and transmission along with the same HP/TQ. It makes no sense.
  24. This may help.
  25. About what I thought. When I changed mine out, I had no misconceptions about a tremendous increase in HP or MPG. I did it just for it being a bit more free flowing. Much like when I removed the muffler and flapper off the exhaust. I did it more for sound than anything else. Yes, its less restrictive and allows it to flow better which means the engine doesn't have to work as hard but didn't expect any real gains. I have gotten better gains changing my driving habits. I threw on my tonneau cover and slowed down from 75 to 70 in the interstate and so far have gained about 2mpg on the DIC. Granted that in itself is a chore because I like to drive... LOL
