  1. It's stronger than it appears on tv/movies. If you punch any window of your truck hard enough to shatter the glass, it's about a 90% chance you'll also break your hand. Head versus glass = large surface impactor = big ouch to head. ha I've seen guys hit car windows with baseball bats and they bounce off. The glass is good at resisting impacts spread over an area (like the back of your head), however b/c the glass is tempered, you can easily shatter it with the tip of a small screw driver or nail.
  2. Fixed light bar mount and upside-down HID bulb yesterday. Final pic below (dirty truck, dirtier weather this morning)
  3. If you shoot sitting or on your stomach, the bipod is gold! If not, it's just extra weight to hold up.
  4. Yes. I have a 3" Magpul rail mounted on bottom front of fore grip.
  5. BCM 5.56 Mid-length Upper & Lower w/ Gunfighter handle. Magpul hand guard, vertical grip, trigger guard, pistol grip, stock, sling & swivel, rear sight. Harris bipod w/ swivel. Primary 6x scope.
  6. You could order an extra rear headrest and possibly also the tubed channels they fit into inside the seat. Seats are hard foam so with two small incisions in the leather, you could force the center headrest in. No idea about cost but install shouldn't be too difficult.
  7. Light bar is installed & wired..... BUT instead of down now it's angled up about 5 to 10 degrees! Looks like I ground down the brackets a little too much this time! You can't really tell it's off unless you really look at, but it does decrease the lights effectiveness past 30 yrds. I need a break from this project, so I'll try adjusting the brackets a third time next weekend. Pics attached below. If my HID headlights look a little off, it's b/c the right bulb is upside-down. Need to fix that tomorrow. Also, in last pic you can see the light's so bright the iphone camera messed up... I got a faint ghost image of the light bar near the truck's bed (pink arrow). ha
  8. Actually...... I ordered a few pod lights from Vision X yesterday. Plan on putting one beneath each B-pillar and wiring to side mirror puddle lights. Went ahead and ordered a few extra because I'm sure I'll come up with another lighting idea down the road. ha
  9. I installed a $600 light bar on my front bumper... and it points at the ground! Hopefully on Saturday, I can post I re-installed it... correctly this time.
  10. ARRRRRRGGGGHHH!!!!!! Got my light bar put in and the bracket I fashioned didn't work as planned! The light bar is angled down about 10-15 degrees from level. Soooooo ticked right now! I did go ahead and light it up anyway... sucker is bright! Pic below doesn't do justice because light is focused at a spot on the ground about 10 ft in front of the truck. Reflection washes out iphone camera, but even pointing down, you can tell it puts out more light than my HID headlights.
  11. The power lock kit only moves the locking cylinder. Remotely opening the tailgate would require a separate servo/cylinder to operate the latching mechanism. I'm sure it could be done but would require significant engineering/testing/etc. (the new 2015 F-150 will have the tailgate remote opening as an option)
  12. Messed with the LED fogs tonight, kids soccer game tomorrow, so it's been pushed back to Thurs night... maybe Fri. ha
  13. Good point. I also did not use the included connectors. I went the splice / heat shrink route.
  14. Not yet... maybe tomorrow.
  15. Pulled off the bumper tonight, removed the plastic trim piece to expose underlying metal, and test fit my new light bar. Fits perfect and looks pretty sweet IMO. Plan on doing permanent mount/wiring this weekend. Pics of bumper & test fit attached.
  16. Anyone else notice the 2014 Sierra-style lights on the 2015 Canyon? I'm starting to wonder if GM realized the bi-halogen projectors were a bad idea. They dropped the Sierra's dual-function projector setup and instead went with a separate lens/bulb for the highs, similar to the 2014 Silverado's, 2015 Tahoe/Yukon's, & 2015 Colorado's setup (see attached pic)
  17. The correct term is "illegal commodities broker" thank you! I actually work for an oil company, which is similar because both businesses provide highly desired products at artificially inflated prices! haha
  18. Ordered my 20" Vision X light bar yesterday. It's the Xmitter Low Profile Xtreme 5w Wide http://www.visionxusa.com/LED-LED_Bars-Xmitter_Low_Profile_Xtreme_Light_Bar/c1_288_214/p853/20"_XMITTER_LOW_PROFILE_XTREME_BLACK_15_5W_LED&%2339;S_40degree_WIDE/product_info.html?osCsid=467gkqbh36bh5j169nmk2o6rd3 Hopefully it comes in before the weekend. Will post pics of install when complete. EDIT: tracking number shows Monday delivery
  19. I remember someone questioning somewhere the power tailgate lock's performance in cold weather. While I can't comment on extreme winter conditions, yesterday morning we had a 'record low' of 21 degrees and the power lock still worked like a champ! If anyone has specific product/installation questions, PM me. I stay mainly in the 2014 section, so I'll likely miss your post here. Thanks.
  20. My method is pretty DIY! I take a wire coat hanger and cut free the bottom straight piece. After cutting, the tips are sharp. On one end, I tape up about 3" of end of wire parallel to wire hanger. Then push the other sharp end through the grommet. It makes a tiny hole then, as you pull the wire through, it stretches the hole just enough so it'll pass through. Makes a really tight seal, so no silicone needed. That was a typo... I used a PowerProbe http://www.powerprobe.com/
  21. Took me a good while b/c I was making sure I documented the steps and locating/testing the correct wires in that bundle was a huge pain. Average skilled person, using my pics of wiring bundle, should take 30 mins or less.
  22. Possibly would start but then die shortly after. (As I type this, I'm picturing Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop stuffing bananas in the tailpipe. ha)
  23. I used a really small flat head screwdriver to get the little tabs to release. It's a pain b/c they're pressed up against carpet & driver's seat, so not much room to work with.
  24. Exactly. This should be standard equipment for every full-size truck made today... or at least a factory option.
