  1. So it sounds like this update somehow killed your TCCM? Or did that happen after the update failed and the dealer was trying to sort things out?
  2. Have put a few hundred miles on the truck since the muffler swap and flapper delete. I love this exhaust note. No drone at any speed, quiet when I want it to be, and a healthy V8 sound when I give it some go juice.
  3. From the Onstar site: What happens if I decline a vehicle software update? If you choose “Decline/Delete,” you will not be reminded again and the update will not occur. Instead, you can take your vehicle to your dealer to perform the update at a later time. So, as long as we don't enable background update downloads in the Preferences menu, we can stop OTA Updates? Is the correct?
  4. I haven't tried it yet because I'm building muscle memory to always turn the button off after I start the truck and before I put it in gear, but on some vehicles AutoStopStart is disabled when towing, or when the windshield defogger button is pushed, or sometimes when a dummy plug is inserted into the trailer lights jack. Has anyone used any of these methods on their Chevy/Jimmy Silverado and found one or more of them to work?
  5. Got to the muffler shop this morning and found out that his supplier had messed up his order and didn't deliver the 18" Magnaflow. He did have a 14" in stock so I went with that, and had him cut the flapper valve off while he was at it. Gotta say that so far I think it's a great improvement. Growls with a low rumble when you take off but virtually noiseless on the freeway. So long as it doesn't begin to drone on the freeway after the muffler breaks in I'll be completely happy, and glad that his supplier didn't deliver the 18" that I had ordered.
  6. Didn't GM just announce a $15K version of the Maverick?
  7. My first 2023 had sat on the lot since February. It had 105 miles on it. I bought it at the end of June. I traded it in for a the blue LT I have now that was 400 miles away so they trucked it from their sister lot to the lot where I bought it. I don't know how long it was on the first lot but when it got to me it only had 36 miles on it, so I'm guessing it wasn't at the original lot long. I'm picky about my vehicles so in addition to wanting a good deal I want something that is as close to being "out of the crate" as I can find. I then do my own oil changes and tire rotations so that I don't have to leave them in the hands of someone else who couldn't give a rip about cosmetics and care of my baby. In these times of short supply there aren't many of them that linger long enough for the dealer to mark them down much.
  8. If there are very few miles on it that might be an indicator.
  9. Superglue, or possibly wedging it up with something that is all but invisible. Necessity is the mother of invention afterall.
  10. I'm hoping that by leaving the baffles in place it will help with that. Neither muffler is particularly loud, and since my hearing is not what it once was...
  11. Thanks! I'm taking the truck in on Tue. morning for either an 18 or a 14 Magnaflow. I think I'm going to have them cut the valve out as well. Can always put it back though I doubt it will be necessary.
  12. Saw a picture somewhere that showed a build-out on the outboard side of some of the calipers. And it was this that some wheels were making contact with, preventing them from being used.
  13. Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I just now saw your reply. Thanks!
  14. I believe the offset is 28. Check out the specs on some of these sets. I have no affiliation with this seller or their site. I found them while looking for a set of Winter wheels and tires for my truck. They sell a LOT of factory sets. I too have the 275/60R20 wheel/tire setup on my Silverado and this seller shows them as having an offset of 28. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_ssn=texastrucktirellc&store_name=texastrucktire&_oac=1&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l2562
  15. Thanks. I've check a couple of times since I bought the truck in August and there's been no update available. I don't mind getting updates, but I also don't like to be among the first given that software has a bad track record for being right the first time. And I don't want to be a beta tester for GM.
  16. If that's the entire kit, where are the other 8 bolts. Mine only used 3 brackets on each side, yours has four. So there should be two sets of eight bolts. On mine one set took a 13mm and the other a 14mm wrench. Don't know the thread size and pitch but they're different for the upper and bottom holes.
  17. ^^^and that sounds like what he'd need. 4 of the smaller and 4 of the larger per side, 16 total. The kit 23RST linked to had 32 bolts total.
  18. Hmmm, not really happy to hear this since I'm still on the fence about removing the valve or not.
  19. Now THAT would be something to avoid at all costs. Thanks! Did you by chance remove it, or force it to stay open after that? Other than that your truck sounded great!
  20. I think I'm going to go with a Magnaflow, either an 18 or a 14. There's a channel on youtube that compared all of the magnaflows they carry and the 18, which is what my muffler guy recommended sounded pretty good to me. I may change my mind when I bring my truck in and go with a 14 then but it will depend on what he says about it. He's been doing exhaust work for 25 years and has helped me with other vehicles in the past. I trust his judgement. Bottom line is I want louder but not obnoxious, and zero drone in the cabin. I also need to get his opinion on the flapper in combination with the particular muffler I settle on.
  21. I put Rhino boards on mine. I had to buy the hardware in a separate package from the boards. Don't know if you can buy just the nuts and bolts, but given the specs you've received from others it should be a simple matter to pick some up. The truck's frame rails are pre-drilled and tapped already. Good luck!
  22. Have an appt. for next Tuesday morning to do a muffler delete. If that doesn't please me I'll probably go with a Magnaflow muffler.
  23. That is exactly what I'm looking for. A growl, not a roar. Or a whisper.
