  2. i would check the wire harness in the drivers door jamb. I have had two Silverados with broken wires in the rubber boot. It is a fairly simple fix with solder and heat shrink.

  4. Or, can I just replace the faces on the gauges?
  5. I am looking to buy a 1988 C1500 with metric gauges. Is converting this dash to standard one as simple as changing the cluster to the same year standard one?

  7. I am going to attempt some rust repair on my 2014 Silverado, welding with a mig welder. I wanted know if I need to disconnect the negative battery cable before welding. I am going to use a repair panel above the right rear wheel. I have never tried this before, and advice would be appreciated. Thanks
  8. It kinda sounds to me like your 4 wheel drive might be engaged.
  9. The usual cause for these problem is broken wires in the drivers side door jamb, inside the rubber boot. I have had two Silverados with that problem, a 2008, and a 2014. They can be fixed with solder and heat shrink tubing.
  10. Did you check the wires in the drivers side door jamb?
  11. Thanks for the reply. That is more then I want to spend.

  15. I have a 2014 Silverado Double Cab. The front seatbelts won't retract, or retract very slow. Is there anyway to fix this, or do they need to be replaced? I have tried cleaning them with upholsrty cleaner. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
  16. I would check the wires in the drivers side door jamb. Inside the rubber boot, the wires have a reputation of breajubg at that piont. I have had a 2008, and a 2014 with that issue. Just solder the breaks and use heat shrink. It is easier to pull the harness out of the door jamb anf through the speaker hole. Gives you a lot more room.
  17. It sounds like broken wires in the drivers side door jamb inside the rubber boot. I have had to repair two trucks with this problem. Some solder and heat shrink will take care of the problem.
  18. My 2008 Silverado 1500 felt like it was bottoming out on small bumps. Turns out one of the rear shocks would only compress part way. Changed both shocks, problem solved.
  19. Just an update. I had the trans fluis flushed, and without the bypass the warmest it has gotten is 145 degrees
  20. I would check the harness in the left front door jamb for broken wires. Had the same problem with my 2014 Silverado. Found multiple broken wires. Repaired the harness, soldering and heat shrinking the breaks now everything works perfect.
  21. Them genuine GM's were crazy expensive, but cheaper then nailing a deer I couldn't see.
  22. Got the OEM headlights installed. I can now drive my truck at night.
  23. The headlights were cracked on my 2014 Silverado. I ordered a headlight assmbly on ebay for $90.00, huge mistake. They don't adjust up any where near enough. My truck is now undrivable at night. The second time I have been burned on truck parts on ebay. Not gonna happen again. I decided to bite the bullet and went to my dealership and buy genuine GM lights. OUCH!!! But I know they will work and I won't have to tear the front of my truck apart again.
  24. So, after paying $145.00 for an oil change I have decided to do my own. This is my first time dealing with synthetics. The manual says to use 0W-20. Does anyone have any recommendations on brand and weight, also filter. My truck has 142,000 miles on it. I want to protect the AFM.
  25. Thanks for all the replies. I think I'm going to order the bypass kit.
