My vacuum brake pump locked up on my 2017 Chevrolet Silverado while driving on vacation. The belt driving it then broke leaving us with no brakes while exiting an expressway at 65 mph.
I had to go through hard turns and stop lights. We jumped over two curbs to get it stopped. We were very lucky no one was injured. The dealership replaced this under a special warranty coverage at no cost to me.However at 95,000 miles they wouldn’t pay to inspect my suspension, or tow fee, or hotel.
They never even sent me a letter telling me there was an issue with this defective part engineered by idiots. Why put a brake vacuum pump driven by a belt off a crankshaft.Fatalities and lawsuits are coming.I reported to the NHTSA. I encourage everyone to do this and stay away from GM products until they fix this major safety problem and redesign the brake system.
