I had to pull off the road and take a picture. 100,000 miles. It only took 10 years, 9 months, and 12 days. 2009 Silverado Ext. Cab LT 5.3L.

Must have been the last so called "mechanic" that worked on the truck. I think they have a box in their shop, when they take bolts off, they throw them in the box, and when they put things back together they just grab a handful of bolts and put in whatever fits.

On my 09 Silverado, the first thing I have to do is remove the corner brace from the truck. When I do that I find 4 different length bolts! Are you serious?

Well, this thread is done..... I had the battery on the charger for at least 15 hours. I went to start the truck and it is dead.....won't crank over the engine. Time for a new battery. Thanks anyways.

November 2015 I installed a new battery in my truck. It is an AC Delco battery, I don't remember the model number. When I am not driving it much, and riding my motorcycle, I put it on a battery tender. I also have a Garmin Dash Camera GPS that plugs into the cigarette lighter/power port on the dash. About 2 weeks go I parked the truck and haven't driven it. I went to start the truck this morning and the battery was dead. I put it on a charger all day, and this evening I went to start it up and noticed I had left the GPS on and plugged in. That is what ran the battery dead. What are my chances this battery will last much longer and do you think it will give me any signs it is on its way out? Or should I just replace it.

I dreamed that I was down at a local GM dealer, and there was a lot of activity and talking about something new GM was doing. I asked a salesman what was going on and he told me. He said that GM was making brand new 1968 Chevy Trucks and selling them for $17,500.00. I was thinking, I don't know what those trucks are selling for now, but I am sure one in excellent shape would go for more than that. Then I thought, I got to go home and tell my wife so I can see if I want to order one. Then of course there is the delima of giving up all the options I have on my current Silverado, and trading it in for one, where the options were limited to A/C or maybe the size of the engine. Yes, it was only a dream. I was looking just now at a 1968 Chevy truck brochure online and realized, I had seen one of these brochures several months ago. I think it stuck in my mind, they say dreams happen like that.

I park my truck in the driveway, and I don't use a drive up bank ATM's, so I don't really have a need to fold them. I have had so many other things go wrong with the truck, that when my wife was looking for a new car last year, we didn't even consider GM.

I have folding mirrors on my 09 Silverado. I fold the mirrors maybe 3 times a year....if that. The truck was 4 years old and under the extended warranty when the passenger side quit. I paid the $100.00 deductible and had it replaced. When the truck was 6 years old, the driver side went out. Of course that leaves me to pay the $600.00 for a mirror and labor. I can't believe these are made so cheap. I never got more than 20 - 25 folds out of each mirror. I don't have any reason to fold them so I don't.....and won't fix it. Maybe that gear and motor mentioned above would be good if I needed to fold the mirrors on a regular basis. Where do they get this idea....most dependable, longest lasting truck!

I have a 09 with the 5.3L. I have always had the dealer change the oil and hardly ever checked it between changes. I checked the oil one day and it was a quart low. I looked at the mileage from time of service until that day and it was 4,000 miles. At first I thought the idiots at the dealer shorted me a quart. I put in a quart and checked it 2,500 miles later, and it is 1/2 quart low. The truck has 66,000 miles on it, and I drive it easy and don't load it up or tow with it, just driving back and forth to work.
